Christmas Countdown - 2011

Christmas IS in the air. Come August, I start updating our gave/got lists and figuring out who we need to shop for, and start collecting video clips for this year's annual DVD of Christmas clips. Plus working on material for the August podcast and developing ideas to submit to MCR.

I was in the mood last week. I read about "The Stingiest Man in Town" (a live 90-minute musical TV adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" from 1956, now lost) and ordered the cast album on CD from Amazon, where the reviews were all raves. Got it, listened to it a few times in the car, enjoyed it immensely---then dropped the CD and scratched it so badly it killed a couple of the tracks. But I ordered a replacement, and before that goes in the car, I'll back it up on the computer!

"Hammy camel" has a nice ring. Maybe a good name for a band. Carl and the Hammy Camels.
 
Good morning everyone! Thursday Thursday almost Friday!

Good news. If you missed the pines feel free to use my time machine. Just hop in the delorean, set the time circuits, make sure you bring extra plutonium and you are set to go! LOL am I a back to the future fan or what?!?!

Its FINALLY raining today! We are going to have rain tomorrow as well. Still its muggy out, but not as bad as it has been. I listened to Christmas music on my ipod on the drive in to work today. Very nice. Anyone else get shivers when they listen to it sometimes? Just the feelings that come back!!!! yay! A couple more months and I can bring out the fall/autumn stuff. *sigh* cant wait! I'm keeping my eye out for Christmas/Fall stuff in stores. If I find any Ill take a picture since I carry my handy dandy ipod touch with me. Well time to get to work! Have a great day everyone!

I'm getting quite a bit done this morning - did some research online to see if the hours for my trash pick-up were changed. They weren't so I have to make a call in a few to see why my stuff wasn't picked up. Got my workout in while listening to it rain outside - what a lovely and relaxing way to exercise. I don't think I've enjoyed a workout more than I did today! It has been raining quite a bit, and we so needed it to!!!! This is going to make the garden go crazy with growth and it might keep the trees from dropping fruit - lost quite a bit of late :(

I need to feed the fur kids and make a phone call and then work - busy, busy, busy! Love it!!!

Both my grandsons were so excited and said, "yes"! then "grandma, are you going to play"??? I said, "I think I will sit this one out". I got the cards and threw them all over the living room floor and said, "ok, pick them up"! They started screaming with excitement as the hit the floor and scurried all over picking them up! Then they wanted to play again??? I thought I had tricked them and instead they loved the game! I guess they tricked me. Ha ha!

Brad, this sounds absolutely heavenly. When I was a kid, my mom and dad managed a boat landing along the Catawba River in NC. You painted a gorgeous picture of what life was like there! Thanks for the reminder.

It rained yesterday afternoon, but when it stopped, my son and I finally went fishing. It was beautiful! It was about 75°, the breeze was still, the pond had about 6" of fog on the top, and the sun was setting behind the pine trees. We didn't catch anything, but we didn't care! We had a few strikes, just enough to get the old adrenalin going, but for the most part, we just enjoyed being outside together.

I am sure, I would have reacted like that grandkids did....I loved to do stuff like this....should try this with kandice....lol.....me....sitting there for hours throwing cards in the air.....kandice pickin dem cards up and I am surfin right here on mmc with ya guys then

Ha ha! Let me know how that works out!

I know when my brother pulled that one on me when I was 7 or 8 years old I was a bit upset. =)
 
Quick peek in to check to see how you guys are doing. I have about 60 some odd days to till I return..Back home schools are already starting back up,fall just around the corner. I can't believe how fast time is passing. Yankee Candle Co. is about to put out thier fall 2011 collection in early august. I usually love this time of year I can take the heat so long as I know it is about to end and the cool days of autumn are right ahead..oh and BTW every indictation(per accuweather.com & farmers almanac) is that my friends who live along the East coast are in for another brutal winter..seems we are in a pattern of extremes Re:winters and summers. Have a great night/afternoon everyone! miss you all!

I learned about "52 Pick-up" from an early '60's episode of Captain Kangaroo. I think Mr. Moose pulled it on the Captain.
