Heat index is supposed to be 120 today.....CRAZY! The football coach and I agreed yesterday to move practice up until 8:00 this morning or 7:00 tonight. It's scary to think of these kids out there, especially with all that are having problems everywhere. Heard where a coach died yesterday from being out there....already knew of 2 kids....tragic....Ol' Ballcoach doesn't see the point. We go out and practice at 2:00 because "We gotta make em tough" but we don't play games until 7:30. Why you gotta make em tough at 2:00? Can't you do it at 7:00 in the morning...I understand the mental toughness and overcoming adversity, but adversity when you are 16 is your girlfriend breaking up with you, not walking around in 20 pounds of gear in 120 heat index, that's stupid. But hey, I'm blessed, I've got a good one!

Guess who's back!

WELCOME BACK!!!!!!

I use to be very big into politics, but have grown very cynical of it the last few years. The polarization of the left and the right have just left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Both sides seem to look whats good to get them re-elected and not good for whom they represent. That's just my opinion.

I have never been big into politics and feel there is good and bad to to all sides, democrat, republican etc. I can't say I am one or the other. Just that some of the political stuff that goes on in our city can be downright hilarious even if you never followed political issues or even understand it. There has been some headline news that I started laughing over.

THANK YOU! I am glad to hear that you will not have them playing in this heat. I worry about kids every year when sports practice come up during the summer. The coach that died lived nearby me and it saddens me that it could be prevented by taking precautions. Once again, thanks for looking after the kids!

You know, Ballcoach, Jerry Jones has the Cowboys practicing inside the Alamodome so it's ok for the kids to not be directly in the heat during the middle of the day. =)

I think you were wise to make that decision. From what I see in print and on the Web some days, teaching English is a losing battle ...

When my (family kids) get on my nerves, I start singing "It's a Small World"! It drives them crazy!!!

I have my Master's in Collaborative Education and started on my Doctorate in Math Education. $ became a problem so the Doctorate is on hold. Maybe I am too old anyway!

I majored in both English and History. I did think about getting a teaching certificate, but I didn't want to get it at SVSU. U of M cost too much, but that is where I was planning on going as the program was quicker, but life intervened and I shelved my plans. I'm still thinking about getting my Master's degree, but right now the cost is too high and I don't want to get a loan out until the economy is better. I may work now, but I don't feel secure enough to take even one class a semester. I think teaching HS English would be fun and scary!

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

I got a little more done on my deck yesterday. I've started putting up the handrails, and it's looking pretty good. I had to quit at 7pm to go to my inlaws for family-night supper. Every first Tuesday of the month, LOTS of us go to her house for supper. Last night we had breakfast. I love that! Grits, eggs, ham, breakfast casserole, sausage...mmm, mmm, mmm!

I hope I can get some more done on the deck today.

Welcome Back!!!!!!! I had the exact same problem as you last week. My belkin router blocked the site for no apparent reason. I tried everything to fix it including contacting belkin but nothing worked. I ended up buying a new router because my cable modem is in my bedroom and I like to use the laptop in the living room.

It must be a Belkin conspiracy, I think I heard their new CEO is named Scroogey Grinchmeister. They must want to keep us from everyday Christmas fun. cheesy

Good morning, Christmas friends. Still more work to do in my classroom, but it is all coming together. I hope to finish before the weekend so I can just do paperwork and fine tune lesson plans next week. I just read on the Internet where Matt Damon defended teachers who have tenure. A reporter had asked him if he thought that teachers with tenure really worked hard. What a stupid question! (I want you to know that I rarely use that S-word!!!) I normally go in early and stay late and I have been teaching a looooong time! That reporter must not know any teachers personally!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!! Today is day 18 of the heat wave here in central Indy. Tomorrow we tie the record. I have a busy day ahead. I need to run to the grocery store and then I have to go babysit for awhile. I'm also supposed to go to a local short track tonight to watch my friends boyfriend race. So I may be late to the pines tonight. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Good for you coach!!!!!! I saw on the news last night that alot of the schools around here haven't moved their practice times and I think that is plain crazy. It's not as hot as there but the heat index is still running 105 to 110 during the afternoons. I know when I played in junior high our coach would keep us inside if it was over 90 degrees outside. We would work in the weight room or run sprints in the gym.

I think we broke like... 6 glass ornaments last year! By "we" I mean ME!! Not either one of my kids - doh!

Super glue is my best friend, especially after my boys get a hold of an ornament. Poor Buzz Lightyear, he met super glue at least 3 times in the last 2 years. cheesy
