Good morning, Christmas friends. Thinking of all of you on the East Coast. Stay safe. I looked at the weather map and it looks scary, so we will all be worried until you check in!

A windy Good Morning to each and all.

Whew!
Nerve-wracking last night as we watched Irene get ever closer to our vulnerable little cottage.
Fortunately, the news kept gradually getting better as the storm weakened to a CAT 1 and moved a bit further east.
The eye passed just east of Cape Lookout about 8:00 AM this morning with 85 MPH winds.
That's about 25 miles east of where our place is and outside the eye wall.
Will contact someone we know over there after the hurricane is out of the way so he can check on any damage but we don't expect anything severe.
(It's just been a blustery/rainy day here in Raleigh, well inland.)

You just can't count on Mother Nature.....but you CAN count on this:
Days to the Season: 78
Days to Christmas Day: 120
Under 3 weeks now until the 100-day Christmas Milestone.
(Moving right along!)

Well, the power has been flickering in and out, so I had better close before I loose what I've typed!

You have a Sensational Saturday, Everyone!

And with this post, Crown is poster #17,700. For their efforts, they win a plastic raincoat to carry with them for inclement weather!

A windy Good Morning to each and all.

That IS good news, considering that yesterday they were expecting CAT 3 in N.C. At our house, we're mostly preparing for a power outage/water outage. I'm not sure what to expect---this is my first hurricane in New England. We're busy today getting through anything that may require electricity, just in case.

today we got lots of rain...but I kinda enjoy the day....pretty much just chilling throughout the day....gon lay down a little now cos I gots some headache

Good afternoon!!

Crown - glad to hear your cottage should be ok! We got a text from my brother in Cape Cod saying they were heading home (to Ohio) to avoid the hurricane - they woudl be here in a few hours. (He fly's his plane) Then we got a second text saying they had a change of plans & they were going to ride it out. The storm is supposed to stay east of them. They are expecting wind only. Hopefully it all turns out ok!

It's a beautiful day here - lots of sun & very comfortable temps so far. We are heading to our friends for a pond party. Should be a good time.

Have a gret day friends!

getting hammered by Irene- all is well though still have power.. in a lull right now...
Jayish- coming at you....

Much Love everyone...

winds in at 75 mph.. no major damage though- hanging tough.. jayish- hold on!

YABBA!

Hang on, Binger! I'm not even on a coast and they're predicting 5+ inches of rain and 50-70 mph winds.. ay yi yi. So nervous. Crown, glad to hear you came through ok!

O.k the yard is all picked up I bought gallons of water and gas for the generator. Plenty of food in the house for the kids. The rain is already here just waiting for the storm to come up the coast,as ready as we can be.If the power goes out it could be out for a few days so I will be back on as soon as I can. Hang in there everyone on the east coast.

Crown: glad you had some good news regarding the path of the storm. Hope all is well!!

Good afternoon!

What a shopping trip! A one month supply of dog and cat foods filled up the back seat of the truck and there was still grocery shopping to do. Good thing I can pack! Stopped at a few garage/estate sales - found a few things for the store, but nothing major. It is getting harder and harder to find the good stuff. I did find a few Christmas stamps and some Gooseberry Christmas books I did not have - yay!!! I plan on looking at them later this evening.

Have a great evening and stay safe!!!!!!

Good Evening Everyone!!!!!!! It is good to see everyone on the east coast checking in. I have been praying for all of you. I just got home from the Jim Shore signing. He is a really nice guy and takes the time to chat with everyone while he signs your pieces. That is why it took me almost 3 hours to get to him even though I was only about a 1/4 of the way back. I hope he didn't have an early flight home. I was going to get my picture taken with him but my batteries were dead when I got to the store and I couldn't believe that hallmark didn't have any batteries for sell. So instead of buying batteries I bought another Santa and the nativity star ornament. I'll try to post pictures soon. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!

You are so lucky to have seen him in person and to have gotten his autograph! You should have taken your phone! Congratulations, anyway!

We're getting rain on and off in Mass. Expecting the worst of it tomorrow morning and afternoon. The NWS says:

...TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT...
...WINDS... AS HURRICANE IRENE APPROACHES...SUSTAINED TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. MAXIMUM WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE IN THE 50 TO 60 MPH RANGE WITH GUSTS TO 80 MPH.
DAMAGING WINDS ARE LIKELY. SOME HOMES MAY HAVE DAMAGE TO SHINGLES...SIDING...GUTTERS AND WINDOWS...ESPECIALLY IF THESE ITEMS ARE NOT PROPERLY SECURED. LOOSE OUTDOOR ITEMS WILL BECOME AIRBORNE...CAUSING ADDITIONAL DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE INJURY. SOME POWER LINES WILL BE KNOCKED DOWN BY FALLING TREES...RESULTING IN SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES. MANY LARGE BRANCHES OF TREES WILL BE SNAPPED...AND A FEW TREES WILL BE UPROOTED

And there's a flood watch in effect. At least they're saying "scattered" and not "widespread" power outages. We're ready, anyway.

Strong winds are scary!!! When my son was at UC San Francisco in the hospital, I had to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge in winds that gusted up to 80 miles and hour. I was petrified. When I got home, our fence had blown down and electricity was out all over. Keep safe, everyone.

Hubby and I will head out to Mass and then down to the Elks Lodge for a Hawaiian Luau, minus hurricanes; or is it monsoons? I will try to drop in later if the mai tais don't get me!!!
