Christmas Countdown - 2011

Good Friday, first day of fall, morning, my Christmas friends!

We cooked supper for Nancy's parents last night. We had stewed salmon and grits, fried eggs and bacon. I love breakfast for supper! Bernie is back to normal, and Hilda is feeling a good deal better, so things are starting to normalize at home, too.

I'm going to run the store tomorrow for Bernie, and give him the rest of the weekend to recooperate. Since dove season has temporarily ended, I don't have that much to do tomorrow, anyway.

If it helps at all I did LOVE the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home and seen it several times. Funny movie!

I think William Shatner is a cool guy and funny!

My son is an admitted Trekky.

Also, my dad and brother loved Star Trek and watched it all the time when I was growing up.

Ok, does this all make up for me not being a fan of Star Trek? Will you forgive me? :wink:

Happy Friday morning, everyone! Or should I say, Happy first day of Autumn!

3/4 to the Christmas Day on Sunday, but tomorrow marks 50 Days to the Season. One of those hidden milestones, really. 50 days is certainly not a long time. It's hard to believe that it is so close considering right now I am at the tennis club watching 18 full courts of tennis being player. Temperature-wise? It's about 64F - very nice! We're supposed to reach about 78F, too. How's that for fall?

We have another group of students arriving in about 15 minutes, so I should prepare for them. I'll check in a little later. Glad to see that everyone is excited to welcome in a new season! Autumn 2011 has arrived.

But I am with you, not a fan but respect the show for it's popularity. =)

I'm a Star Wars fanatic. That is about the only Sci Fi that I am a big fan of. Wayne and I love watching that movie together.

Good morning! Happy Friday!!! Happy 1st day of fall!! Oh man, I missed the pines & I missed Thirsty Thursday this week BUT I have a new refrigerator & a new oven...and just you wait til I'm baking up all them tasty treats to bring to the Pines this Christmas! :grin: I had the greatest day off work yesterday! My hubby was working & do you know how long it's been since I have had a day off by myself? A LOOOONG time! Usually if I take off work it is to go somewhere, or we have plans. I had a day off for no reason (other than my new appliances being delivered) & it was AWESOME! But it left me wanting another day off! Ha ha!

I'm trying a new experiment for this Christmas. I have a recipe book of "making liquor for gifts" - most of the recipes are either fruity or creamy like for coffee. I made a Cherry Liquor. You put 1/2 lb. bing cherries in bottom of wide mouth quart jar, add 1/2 lb. sugar, & fill the rest with 2 C. vodka, put lid on jar - no stirring or shaking. Just let it sit undisturbed for 3 months. Mine will be ready Dec. 21st - a red drink for Chrsitmas! I'm excited to see how it turns out! :lol:

Also yesterday I made a recipe from the (Paula) Deen Brothers Holiday magazine. Spicy Cheese Taco Balls. They are meatballs. We are going to have them at the lake this weekend! AND I made a big pot of Ham & Veggie soup yesterday. WOW is it tasty! AND I listened to some Christmas music yesterday too while hanging out at home & putting up a few fall decorations!

Ok, enough rambling from me!! I hope you all have a fun weekend planned!!!

I know the excitement of a new oven. I just got one a couple of days ago too. We rent our home and our oven went out. The stove top worked just fine and I figured our landlord would just repair our oven, which would have been fine with me but he got us a brand new one! I am ready to experiment on recipes as well. I am allergic to wheat/gluten which is practically in all dessert recipes so I am looking forward to trying out some wheat/gluten free desserts.

I just love watching Paula Deen especially during the holidays even though I can't eat anything she makes! I am also allergic to dairy and she just loves butter! So do I but it don't love me. lol.. Anyway, I watch her show all the time. She is a sweet lady.

Dylan my friends little boy started his Chemo on Tuesday so we passed on boiled sweeties for him to take away the nasty taste and he's being so super brave.

Well my friends... Today has been a long day... I got to work at 3.. And fell violently I'll. Puking, vertigo the whole nines.. I was sent home and couldn't keep anything down, including water and gravol....

I hope you are better soon. It's no fun being in the hospital.

Hey Brad! Here's one for you! Noel Shempsky from the show Frasier is a Trekky. Here is one of my favorite episodes where Noel was suppose to teach Frasier a Jewish blessing to say at his son's Bar Mitzvah then got mad at Frasier for not getting some autograph of a Star Trek actor so out of spite got back at Frasier as you will see here. I laughed so hard when I saw this episode! Enjoy!
