Hey everyone! I'm Katrina. I have been a member for quite a while, but haven't posted much. I really didn't think about Christmas until earlier this week.

I lost my Mom in May of 2010 and my Dad in February of this year. They both loved Christmas so this year is pretty hard. But I realize that the best way to honor my parents is to celebrate as they would. So, my tree is up, some presents are purchased. And I want to get into the spirit. So, I'm going to spend some time on here tonight. I am not going to beat myself up for what I haven't done. I'm going to gather inspiration and Christmas spirit from this fine group of Santa's elves!

About myself, I am 56 years old. I have a 22 year old son who still lives with me (he's in college). And he has blessed me with a beautiful two and a half year old granddaughter who live sin town with her mom. I work for a major corporation but am blessed to work at home. I am involved with two charity organizations. I am trying to carve some time out for myself to craft - counted cross-stitch, card making and jewelry making. I am looking for inspiration, ideas and friendship in these three crafts.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome Back!!!!!! I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I hope looking around the site helps you find the Christmas spirit.

Hi and welcome back to MMC, katecole1! Here's to hoping you can find some comfort in this holiday season. Enjoy it with your family.

Welcome Back, Katrina!!
Merry Christmas!!! :sparkle:

Welcome to MMC, Katrina!

I'm sorry for your recent losses. I've often wondered if my obvious love for Christmas would make future Christmastimes a source of pain for my children when I'm gone. I hope they follow your example and enjoy it with me in spirit!

Merry Christmas! cheesy

Hi and welcome back Katrina!

Sorry to hear about your losses, hope you find joy and happiness in the holiday season and I think celebrating as they would is a great way to honor them! :tree:

so glad to meet you.
The "firsts" after you loose a loved one are the hardest. Perhaps this may help you get through the holidays....http://www.griefshare.org/holidays

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks everyone. I spent the days before the holidays just cruising around the forum and making some notes. You all definitely put me in the spirit. The holiday was a little rough, but I could feel Mom and Dad there on Christmas Day.

Christmasstar, thanks for the link. I had already gone to that site and had attended the GriefShare Surviving the Holidays seminar twice. But thank you so much for passing that along.

Now that I have put all the decorations away, I am starting the planning for Christmas 2012. I am ready to jump in.

See you all around the forum!
