Good morning all! It's awfully early and I woke up early to get to working, but now i feel tired and awful and not like working :P but i should anyway ;)
Have a good day all of you!

Hope you feel better.

hey everyone! well i'm up & got hubby of to work @ 6am & had some time before i must get to work so wanted to wish ya'll a happy new year & tell ya'll of our goals (not resolutions) for this year.
1. get healthy-all of us-the whole family, i think i have 1 son not on board w/ it.
2. QUIT SMOKING-this 1 is just for me.i'm the only smoker in our family, i do not smoke in our home-always outside- i'm tired of coughing & all the ill side effects of smoking, i've just gotta get it together.
3.not sure....heck if we/i can do the 1st 2 that's wonderful.
i'm gonna have to work especially hard on #2. i know i'll be doing alot of praying!

ya'll have a great tuesday! God bless each of you!:!!

Good luck! I definitely hope you kick the smoking habit. My father is the only one in my family who is still smoking, but I don't think he will ever quit.

Good luck - know you can do it!!!!!!!

Hey everybody!! I am SO SICK of this weather. We've got 102 mph winds (slightly better than the 165 mph last time but not much) Again, trees down, bridges and airports and train stations closed, sheds blown over, tiles off roofs. Don't think my windows are built for this kind of thing. The blizzard that is being predicted is due to start any time now but it doesn't look anything like snow right now so that's a bonus.

This is my last day of holiday and I won't be leaving the house. I didn't get my baking done yesterday and there's a programme about William and Kate on just now so I'm not too worried about vacating the premises, but at some point, the dogs are going to have to go out. Hope it's died down enough by then. It doesn't worry me if it's snowing, it's just when you're blown off your feet that I'm not too happy with!

Catch you later xx

Stay safe!

Good Morning, friends~

Sending hugs to all of you this Tuesday morning!

Hope you are all well, and not having too tough of a time with the post Christmas blues. I was, but life kicked in, and off to fret about other things

I need to stop into work to finish payroll quick, then off to my doctor appointment late this morning. My husband is accompanying me, so that really makes me feel better. Thanks for all of your thoughts & prayers, I will keep you posted.

Happy Birthday to Rob & Kimothy!! Hope you guys have a great day!

I saw this quote on friendship that I wanted to share, not sure who wrote it, but it's kinda cute!
"Friendship is like a Christmas tree, decorated with warm memories and shared joys. You're the slightly cracked ornament that always makes me smile."

:sparkle:

My thoughts are with you Snowflake!

Made, how do you like the Coby tablet?

It's okay. The screen isn't real responsive when using your finger but it works okay when you use a stylus. It doesn't come with the amazon app store or the android market loaded on it. Loading Amazon on to it was easy but the android maket is a lot harder and I haven't tackled it yet. I basically just wanted it to read books on and to access MMC. It's okay for that but I don't know how much more.

Hi Folks!

Deocations inside are down, except for the two trees, outside will be lit till the 6th then off, and hopefully down by Sunday...sad times...Always a downer to see early January wash the Christmas spirit away...

I was not nearly as active here last year as I have been in the past...some of that due to life, and some of it due to the sheer volume of posts that I could not possibly catch up on...Count me in with the less is more camp!

So nice to see that we will dip below 300 days in about two weeks!

Thanks Crown!!!

A blessed New Year to all!!! May 2012 be leaps and bounds better than 2011!!!

Jay:transform:

Good to see you posting here, Jay! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It's the same way here. We just had a dusting yesterday and it caused 80 wrecks in a hour.

There was a 20 car pile up on I-80 (up North Pa). I am not sure if you ever drove on there or not, but in the winter it is horrible. I have only ever been on there once going to New York to go to Watkins Glen racetrack. I hate the interstate.

You're absolutely right, you just have to jump in.

I agree!!!!! Just jump right and don't wory about keeping up.

If you get the 1987 edition, I bet you'll all LOVE it. It's one of my favorite just-leaf-through-it-at-random Christmas books. When you get it, let me know what you think!

You suggested it to me last year, and I have loved it since I got it. Thanks again!

back from work, brownies baked.
I cleaned out the kitchen cupboard, you know the one with all the baking stuff, spices etc. Got rid of all the outdated things and sorted out the rest. All neat and tidy again until the next time I bake!
All my Christmas stuff has been packed away until next season. Living room is cleaned and vacuumed. After I did that I noticed the shelves need dusting...tomorrow!

The snow has stopped for now, just very cold at -15c.

Hope you all have a great day!!!

On the Tenth Day of Christmas...

Good afternoon,

My lights are on and blazing strong! (for a few more days anyways) Busy day today, I had my visit to the dentist today, good check up, no cavities! I decided it was time to sell some of my old sports card collection, so I found the ones that were most valuable, took them to the card store at the mall, and they did not want them, I remember when I was collecting them back in the early 90's there were card stores everywhere, now there is only 2 in the whole area. I was going to take the money I made from selling them, and use it to buying clearance Christmas merchandise, but foiled again. :x I may have to try selling on ebay, I have never done that before, only bought things. Back to work tomorrow morning, not looking forward to that after the last 12 days off. But got to bring home the dough.

Have a great evening!

I am hoping we can get it all sorted out today. Most of my friends I've had since i was like 5 so thats 18 years of friendship that I dont want to lose, and at the same time I dont want to lose him either, but I think that if he keeps treating me the way he is treating me right now he will be hitting the curb.

You guys are the best and so supportive! I feel very comfortable and welcome here :)

If he treats you badly, send him to the curb where he belongs. I got rid of my ex-boyfriend last year after he got me a pair of socks for my Christmas present (lol!) and blew me off on Christmas day completely. Saw him for an hour on Christmas Eve when we exchanged gifts and then he left. If you are being my boyfriend, you are spending my two favorite days of the year with me, which he didn't! Don't let the door hit ya on the way out, buddy!

If he is mad that you're hanging out with your friends, he's never going to stop acting that way. You can explain it to him and try your best to make him understand but he's not going to change. The next time you say you're hanging out with your friends he will act fine with it, but it'll all start back up again. It's a vicious cycle. My ex-boyfriend always thought that when I said I was with my "friends" that it meant guys. Not worth it!

I've never been on it there in PA. We usually stick to I-70 and the Turnpike. A 20 car pile up is just crazy. I wonder if it was a local that started it or a out of towner.

Sitting here with all of you and enjoying a hot chocolate with marshmallows. It's been a nice afternoon so far! It is mighty cold outside though! :cold:

We're supposed to see single digits tonight---and I have to head out before 7 a.m. tomorrow. Not looking forward to that!

Free christmas books?

Most of the free books that you find for Nook and Kindle are in the public domain (in the U.S., that generally means published before 1923). There are some good ones out there, but the free books can also suffer from lousy formatting. But if they're free, you haven't lost anything by trying.

Archive.org, Google Books, and gutenberg.org have tons of free public-domain books for download. Many are not Kindle-compatible, though. It takes tech-savvy to convert the files and manually load them onto a Kindle.

I am hoping we can get it all sorted out today. Most of my friends I've had since i was like 5 so thats 18 years of friendship that I dont want to lose, and at the same time I dont want to lose him either, but I think that if he keeps treating me the way he is treating me right now he will be hitting the curb.

Your boyfriend sounds a little unreasonable to me. Don't risk losing your old friends for him.

I was looking for a tablet just for Netflix & simple stuff. I didn't find any deals over Christmas, so I thought I'd start haunting the pawn shops in a month or two.

I a not sure, but they have bad wrecks like that all winter long, huge ones even. I said to DH what would he do if he pulled up to something like that and he said he wouldn't even know where to begin, but that is normal for the fireman up there!

I am SO right there with you. As a kid I LOVED summer because my parents managed a boat landing on the banks of the Catawba River in NC. Now, I HATE summer!!!

Um, like I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE summer!!! I wish I lived in Australia where at Christmas it is SUMMER!!!!! I would not mide speanding Christmas Day on Christmas Island!!! Tee Hee, but that is just me... I like winter, I love Spring and Fall, but ahhhh summer....

Forgive me if this sounds like moaning---I've got something on my mind.

I love to "read the news" here every day, but I'm getting concerned that it's going to be too difficult to keep up this year, with the emphasis on increasing the post count. I like to drop by for a relaxing visit with friends, but I don't always have the chance to click through 20 or 30 pages to keep caught up. I don't want to find that I'm losing track of what's going on with all of you when there's not enough time to read all the posts. Those will be sad days.

Don't think I'm a party-pooper if I keep using multi-quotes. It helps me keep track of things I want to reply to. I'm not a super-poster, so forgive me if I'm not pumping up the count enough. It looks like that may become the primary goal of the Countdown, and that worries me a little. I enjoy getting together with all of you here more than trying to beat the post count, and I'll miss you all on those days when I don't have time to catch up. The Countdown has been an important part of my day for the better part of two years now, but this year I may be out of my depth. I hope that doesn't happen. You all mean a lot to me.

MC, I know what you mean... It took me all day to catch up, but I love this thread... It has become important date to me as well.

Since we are about to take down decorations, I had to hurry up and go snap a little live feed of this snow globe that we bought this year. It is seriously has the best colors! The only one that didn't snap was yellow, and the bright red kind of looks pinkish on here.

What's everyone's favorite color out of them all?

24442gl.png

I love the clear because you can see all of the colors - but I loooooove that green!

OMG these were beautiful!!! I LOVE the clear too.

Winter?? You have had a winter where you are??? Sorry, winter is my favorite season right along with fall. Spring is third for me, and last of all is summer!!!

Oh but those LAZY, CRAZY DAYS of Summer!!! Those days of soad of pretzels and beer!!! And MMC Countdown thread!!!!

VSU, Lauriebear is a Giants fan.

WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOO GGGGGGGGGG-MEN!!!!!!!!!

I have a different feel on taking down the decorations- if they stayed up all year- they wouldnt be special... so, to put them away for 10.5 months.. just makes them more special when you put on some coffee and take them out again...

ohhh did someone day coffee??

Y A B B A>>> ohhhh can hardly wait for LOVE ON LETTERMEN... 12/21,.... AHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHHHHHH wasnt that the best this year???

I agree with you, it seems to make them special.

Cowboys, Braves, Red Sox, and Dale Jr. are my favs.

Ouch Coach!!! THE NY FOOTBALL GIANTS, Yankees, and Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson!!!!!!!

Good morning,

I believe I now have an ear infection, I can hear my pulse in it, and there is a little pain. I will be heading back to work Wednesday morning, so one more day off tomorrow, but I have to go visit the dentist. Taking the kids out to a playground for the final day of vacation. My wife was watching that show Sister Wives, and she said don't get any ideas, I told her having one wife is hard enough why would I want anymore. She had a pretty good laugh at that one.

Have a great day!

That was funny - but hope you feel better soon.

Nope, I don't think it can be fixed. The ornament is made out of a very strange material since it is extremely glittery. When my dad yanked the snowman ornament off of the tree, its hat broke off completely and now there is a hole right in the middle of the ornament. It shattered into the smallest pieces you can imagine, literally specks!

I'm so upset! My dad rips ornaments off of the tree by their hooks. I know that you can't be ripping stuff off, let alone by the hooks - they are NEVER sturdy. It's such a shame because my grandma bought that ornament for us the last Christmas that she was alive. It was one that always reminded me of her and now I'm totally bummed out.

I don't know if you like to read or not, but I have found that reading Christmas books helps me greatly!

Sorry about this...
