I don't know if this is nationwide news but yesterday evening I heard a loud boom which scared the crud out of me. I jumped up and looked out my window and didn't see anything going but thinking something blew up. Then 9:00 news came on and said the police department got a lot of calls about a bright light in the sky and a loud boom. I didn't see the light, I only heard the boom. They confirmed it was a meteor. Dang! It was loud!

It reminds me of the time the space shuttle blew up over Texas. That shook my apartment. I had no idea what it was until I heard the news later. That was sad.

They say that there is going to be 6 more weeks of winter. I don't know about anywhere else, but we are still waiting for winter to start here.

I have to stay late at the office tonight---they're working on an important Friday-morning presentation for a client, and they need me to check any changes after their late-day meeting. We are still waiting too. It has been a mild, wet "winter" here. We've only had 2 school snow days. A local paper had an article talking about how confused our local wildlife are. Bears, deer, & turkeys have been much more active than normal. A lot of folks keep bird feeders up in the winter for the birds that stay. This year, the bears are getting into them which is very usual for winter.

Seawaters - We are still praying for you. Cancer is a horrible disease. My mother has battled colon cancer, with multiple surgeries, for 10 years. A lady I work with has a 15 year daughter that was just diagnosed with bone cancer.

oh my, i'll be praying for them also.

Good Thursday morning, my Christmas friends!

My mom called this morning. She has houseguests this week. They're a couple that lived near us when we lived in Fayetteville, NC. All the army families tended to gether up in the same house areas, so I grew up with these folks and their kids. Anyway, the wife is German, and is offering to cook us authentic German schnitzel tonight. They've already gone to the local base commissary to pickup the ingredients. I can't wait!

I finally got my haircut today, too!!

Hey everyone!

I am just waiting for my parents to get home from the doctor appt and I am going to make them lunch. My mom was supposed to have the drainage tube and the bandage taken off today, but he only took the drainage tube out. She is not very happy because having the bandage so tight around her throat makes it even worse to eat/drink.

I ordered some speakers from Amazon a few days ago, I think they should be coming today. My speakers are great, but I've had them for a few years and I can tell that they are about to blow out. I need to wait for my brother to get home from work, though, because I don't know how to install them.

I can't believe it's almost Super Bowl weekend! I don't think we'll be doing anything big, but I am definitely going to watch. I am more interested in the commercials than anything since my team didn't make it to the Super Bowl.

Good afternoon, everyone! I just got back from Wal-Mart, snuck out of work to go Superbowl shopping. My sister is making Cincinnati Chili to eat with spaghetti noodles, and I'm making hot crab dip. And of course there will be veggies and dip. That's why they call it the Super BOWL-you keep eating while you're watching it!

oohh you better not tell anyone you snuck out. i'm planning on pinwheel wraps, mexican dip, & layered dip, & ???????

well after my rant on here this morning i felt a little better.
but CAH, you're gonna kill me, after dropping off daughter this a.m. i stopped @ the convenience store, went in, bought not 1 but 2 honey buns, & not 1 but 2 packs of lance crackers. guess i wanted to stuff my anxiety away. anyhoo after talking w/ a friend of mine @ work i felt a little MORE better so i only ate 1 honey bun & 1 pack of crackers. i'm such a failure. after & only after i ate the honey bun & turned the wrapper over & "bout had a coronary from the # of calories in it. i'm so bad!
my son called me after he left class today & someone in the financial aid office gave him some brochures on some private school loans that may be an option for him. hubby & i are gonna look them over tonight.
slow day @ work, had to send 2 girls home it was so bad. tomorrow i'm off for a slow day.in just a few more days we will be wishing for a slow day. guess ya' just gotta tak'em as they come huh? yuup! oh dear, now i'm answering my own questions.!@#$^*&%##()!#$%)(*@!# uh oh!

Good Thursday morning MMC! I just got caught up as I had to leave the Pines early last night. Seems like it was a wonderful time had by all with good food, drink and company. Carl seems like he was up to his normal cheeky tricks.

I am going to go lay down on the couch, put my feet up, and do some reading for my Meteorology class. I do not feel very well at all! Ever since I got into bed last night, my stomach has been bothering me. I couldn't even fall asleep because it was growling and making crazy noises constantly, lol. I didn't eat much yesterday with all of the hecticness so I thought that was the problem. I had hot chocolate, a breakfast bar, chicken noodle soup, and a can of coke today and I already feel so full and queasy. Hopefully I'm not coming down with something.

For some good news...almost Friday! Anyone have fun weekend plans - Super Bowl stuff included!?

Watching a rather lackluster hockey game, I am exhausted, my foot is cranky and very painful, I have not taken my pain meds since I was sick over the weekend, I have been afraid to take it with a weak stomach. Trying to be positive about my foot though. Hopefully it will be better soon.

last evening was a not so good one. my son came home from class saying there's still the issue w/ his tuition & the computer has booted him back out of the system. uurrgghh. we thought it was taken care of 3 weeks ago but....not.
the man over admissions called last night & talked to him & is giving him a 30 day extension & he can still go to class but has to get all his prof. to sign this paper again saying he's been in class.some of you may remember me telling ya'll he went through this a couple weeks ago. as soon as our taxes come in we will pay it.
we are an avg. family & do not have lots of extra $. our son needs another car to go to school next fall in a town over & his is terrible on gas. the $ we were getting was going to him another car & daughter a car w/ whatever he makes off selling his going on the other also. (no we're not getting a big return just cheap cars) anyhoo i felt so bad for him last night because he knows if we pay the tuition we can't get him the car. he's scrambling trying to figure out something, he's going back to financial aid this morning to see if there's anything. as a mom it breaks my heart, i wish we had the extra $. i keep thinking this will help him become more aware of how things work & how important it is to get things done on your own but as a mom....ya'll know what i mean right?
please say a prayer all works out today for him.

Good evening, dear Christmas family !

I am finally finished working this evening.

I had forgotten how tiring it can be to train a new furchild, though I am glad to have my new little Hermione. I take her out it seems like every few seconds because she is so young (barely eight weeks old !!) It is so WORTH IT though. When she makes mistakes I don't yell at her as she doesn't understand. I just take her out and let her sniff and sometimes we have success !! I am sure to give her lots of kisses and hugs and try to make her feel loved without forgetting my other furkids of course, especially my Wishbone. Hermione is getting the idea and I am sure eventually all will be fine. She plays with my adult Rhodesian Ridgeback and you should see them !!! She climbs all over Clancy and Clancy doesn't say a word....just plays with her right back and of course lets Hermione know if she is crossing the line too much. As soon as I get my laptop back, I will post pictures more pictures of her. Can we post our own videos here on MMC ?? If so, I will post a video of Hermione and Clancy playing together !

Wishbone is still doing well regarding his heart and Ivy and Clancy are well too. My two kitties, Smokey and Lily have finally gotten used to Hermione and now ignore her for the most part. Lily is getting fixed next week and though I dread how uncomfortable I know she will be I will be glad that she is fixed. We just went through her first and only heat cycle with her. Yoy !! it was awful !!

Work is good but they changed me to Monday through Friday on a temporary basis and I am not used to it. Thank God tomorrow is FRIDAY !!!

I got the notice to renew my Hallmark Ornament membership in the mail and I am so EXCITED about it !! The club ornaments this year are AMAZING !! I can't wait for the new catalog of ornaments for 2012 !

I hope all are well. I have missed SO MUCH on the site lately. You have all been with me in my prayers and in my heart. I could NEVER forget my Christmas family !! xo

I am wondering if Winter is EVER going to arrive this year. I know we have had warm Winters before but this really concerns me. I am not saying what is responsible for it but I do believe the Earth is getting warmer. I hope the poor planet can "fix" itself somehow. This weather is just not right.
