Re-reading my post I only criticized one teacher who was rude during a meeting and walked out in the middle of it. It caught everyone off guard because it came out of nowhere. Not cool.
I have liked every teacher that my children have had except this one was hard to communicate with. I think highly of teachers and have always had a good relationship with majority of them.
Sorry if I came across as "teacher bashing" and offended anyone. That was never my intent. I am just proud that my son overcame the one and only teacher that didn't believe in him. I am proud of his efforts and what he has accomplished.
Again, I thank all teachers for their hard work! cheesy
I do not blame you at all for your comments. I have had a few teachers who were honestly awful. That is not saying that I am anti-teacher or that I disrespect anyone that is a teacher, but I haven't had good experiences and neither has my brother. Some people are amazing teachers, however. They are extremely passionate, kind, helpful, genuine, and really want the kids to learn. For most of my schooling, I didn't have this.
My first grade teacher was one of the meanest people I ever met. My mom had a serious surgery that year and I remember I was crying during the pledge of allegiance and she told me to suck it up and shut up. Being a six year old, that was extremely rude and hard to take. She used to keep kids who didn't cut perfectly in at recess. I remember the one time I didn't cut something out to her liking and she screamed and screamed and made me cut over and over and over.
Now my second grade teacher was the absolute worst. My mom had another surgery that year and this woman was just RUDE. My mom talked to her ahead of time so the woman would be nice to me and she was just plain rotten. The one day she told me she knew my dad did my hair because it was messy. Gee, thanks. Then she accused me of cheating this one time because I looked over at the clock. She used to scream so loud at my class that kids three rooms down would hear. She didn't care if we learned or not.
My English teacher in the seventh grade was also awful. She used to write rude comments on people's papers such as, "Dumb sentence." "What were you thinking?" Like you don't do that to a kid's paper, you should be explaining what they need to do in order to fix it.
All of my teachers in high school were too involved in drama and gossip and didn't care about teaching us anything. I had maybe three good teachers in high school and that was it. I had the best luck in middle school with teachers who just focused on teaching.
That being said, I understand your rant. I am not bashing teachers in general, just a couple that I have had. There are so many great people that I know looking for jobs in teaching and it's a shame because some of the ones around here are extremely mediocre and don't care about students really learning.
