Good morning everyone! I got some bad news from my Sister this morning; her step daughter (that lives out of state) broke her arm yesterday, and she might have to have surgery. She's at the orthopedist's right now, and they knocked her out so that they can manipulate the arm and see if they can keep the lateral motion under control while it heals. If not, she'll need to have rods in her arm for 8 months. Which will effectively cancel her baseball and wrestling activities for a good while.
ouch.We just had a text message from my sister's step-daughter's Mom; she is having rods put in her arm as I type. She broke both the radius and ulna in the left arm, and the orthopedist's opinion was that rods were unavoidable. She'll have them in for a certain amount of time, then she'll have to have surgery again to remove them. Boo. Looks like it's time for Aunt MerryBells to spoil her step-niece again.
I have known a couple of people that needed that done, recovery was good for them both. I think you may be wrong about the 8 month thing, theirs were only in for 6 to 8 weeks. Maybe the doc was referring to the recovery time with physical therapy that will be needed when it all comes out.
Give her a big hug and let her know we are praying for her.
