Christmas Countdown - 2012

While I am only less than an hour down the road from Undrtakr, this time we actually got the same storm. The sad thing is it took most of the blossoms out of the tree in front of my house.
We also had a lot of flashing lightening and booming thunder. Penny was not impressed and was hiding somewhere in the house, not sure where she went.

Yeah I saw the line of bad clouds a few blocks away from us in the evening. Worst just missed us.

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

I met with the previous mayor of Bellville last night. He gave me a list of all the things that he has agreed to do in the last 12 years, that he always did himself. These things don't come with email (or even snail-mail) reminders. Ugh. I need a tablet that has an active calendar that will popup a reminder like "Don't forget to send water samples to Atlanta next week, or they will revoke the city charter!!" It seems that every onscure state agency has the authority to revoke your charter if you don't stop what you're doing and answer their questions NOW. Grrr.

Today is my dad's birthday. He would have been 72. I surely do miss you, daddy.

Hope you are able to remember all the good times y'all had. This is a tough time of life; watching parents age and losing them while also seeing our kids grow and soon move on. Wish I had listened earlier when folks told me to enjoy everyday with loved ones.

Hi Meceka! Glad you & your furkids stayed safe during the storms.
Harlowe is doing pretty good for the most part, but has had a pretty bad cough this week. I'm starting to get concerned because it's getting worse, may have to take her to the vet if it's not better w/in a day or two. Hope it's just allergies- lots blooming.
How are your little ones? Were Mouse & Palmer scared of the storms too?

Another long day at work. My foot is really acting up recently, I am in a lot of pain, I just need some time off of it. I quickly read through the posts, I hope everyone is well, I am missing Christmas today.

I have been missing Christmas a lot lately as well. I mean, we always do, right?! But lately, I've been finding comfort in holiday movies. Trying to turn one on every day, even though I usually can't finish it all. Life happens..also been listening to MCR. So nice to hear your voices!!

Thank you. FIL is still hanging in there, some days fairly good, other days not at all good. Sadly, it's a waiting game---days, weeks, months---no one knows. Mr. seems okay, but he must be hurting.

Mouse hung around me during the storms and I had Palmer in her crate in case we had to go in the basement - she doesn't always come when she is called. Both cats were a bit on edge before and during the storms, but got over it after the light show was done.

Back from St Thomas, had a great visit with my brother.

Mom gave me an old VHS tape of my kids filmed in 1994. My oldest daughter is in an Easter play at her best friends church. I forgot what a great job she did!

We survived the storms :???:

Although I didn't see it posted anywhere online, according to the radio station I was listening to there were tornado watches in a few of the counties bordering where I live. It was somewhat scary looking out as the clouds were swirling and moving in all directions - it was very hard to tell what was coming at you, especially since we only see a bit of the sky as we live in the woods. What we ended up getting was a very dramatic noise and light show with lots of rain and some hail and one of the blackest skies I have seen in very long time. I also saw the widest lightning bolt ever and right after heard the loudest crack of thunder - my poor pets were petrified! Of course, I had to go out and make sure they were all okay. I have them in safe areas outside, but they always relocate themselves during storms and it is quite the job to find them all. I don't worry too much about the older cats as they know all the nooks and crannies on the farm, but the kittens, of which there are three, moved, too. I finally located them huddled under one of the trucks - why they think that is a safe place I have no idea, but at least they were with their mom and they were dry, too. Shaggy, the outdoor dog, was sopping wet - he will not go in his house unless it is too hot out. That dog loves to be outside and in all types of weather, be it snow or torrential rain. As of this morning, things are back to normal - all pets are waiting to be fed and are their happy selves once again :???: :???:

When did it become 10PM? Always so much going on right now, I don't even know my schedule for next week yet, but they are giving all the supervisors a 3 day weekend next weekend, except for myself and one other guy, we are the only 2 that work every Saturday, I am so frustrated, I could really use a 3 day weekend with my sore foot. I got my car fixed tonight, I am glad I didn't try it, I would have never been able to figure it out, My cousin in law made it look easy.

I am going to bed in a few minutes, so wish you all Christmassy dreams.
