Just curious ... In the last year countdown thread was there anyone who was able to post every day? :)

Wokeup to freezing temps this morning in northern California. Hubby and I watched the Rose Parade and saw the reunion of a soldier and his wife and son. So touching. We also saw a couple get married on one of of the floats.

Snowflake, I saw that Wisconsin is playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl. I though of you when the WI band marched down Colorado Blvd.

Hubby and I were privileged to attend one year and it was fantastic. I want to go again one day, maybe next year!

Happy New Year again, everyone!

Well the tree and all the décor is down!!! Talk about the blues...now I stare where the tree use to be and see the rocking chair and remember back on nov 13th how happy I was to put it all up..sigh..me and snowball are sitting here watching "deadly women" on the ID Channel. Not much is on today..and the weather is nuts its 75F humid and windy at the same time. But yeah the post xmas blues are kicking in hard today..The thing is we still have a few days until we go back to work..I go on Monday and the schools start back next weds on the 9th.so that is a lot of time to sit and miss Christmas.I would rather get off earlier in dec.and go back on jan 2nd but I that's just me..okay I will stop rambling now.lol have a good day everyone!

That is a very interesting question! I know that I wasn't able to. I didn't become really 'active' here until about the summer. And even then, I was so busy with family and running around that I couldn't check in every day like I wanted. Then, I took a vacation this past fall and it was difficult for me to find time for the internet.

Now that you mention it, though, I think I am going to make that a personal goal of mine for 2013. It would be very nice to find the time to post at least once every day for the year. I like that idea!

Awwww! Try not to have the blues. If Christmas was here all year-round, it wouldn't be nearly as exciting or special. That is what is so fun about putting the tree up in November and enjoying it for a couple of months - it makes it extra special and gives it meaning. I know I wouldn't get the same joy if my tree were up year-round.

Wow, your schools start back very late. I am in college and I start back next Monday, the 7th. The local school district here starts back tomorrow.

Get yourself out of those blues and start getting excited for Christmas 2013! Being bummed out is no way to start the New Year! :sparkle:

As long as we are here with the great friendships we have forged, and the love of Christmas, we already have broken all the records we need too.

:sparkle: AMEN! :sparkle:

I try to read and post every day, but miss a day here and there due to illness, schedule demands, vacation, etc.

I think I did. I had Wifi when I went camping so I know I didn't miss any then.

I am sorry if anyone enjoyed Jenny, but wow, I couldn't stand her! You could tell around 11:30 or so her voice was almost gone because it was cracking constantly. All she kept doing the entire night was screaming at the top of her lungs, dancing around aimlessly, and kind of falling into people (it looked like it anyway). Just because you are hosting a NYE/NY program doesn't mean that you have to scream the whole time! Most of us are at home watching and we really don't want to hear you shrieking at the top of your lungs. Aside from that, I didn't think Ryan Seacrest was too shabby. I think they paid a nice tribute to Dick Clark, and I really do like that they kept the name of the program the same. It only seems right!

I could have used some better entertainment, though. Perhaps without Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift...

I could not stand Fergie either. The constant posing and trying to be sexy for the camera got old really quick.

Hi folks!!! Hoping I don't have any typos because my kitten is attacking the screen as I type!! Merry 2013! We are on the way to Christmas already! It's THIS YEAR! :)

I am excited for our dinner today. Anyone else eat pork and sauerkraut? This dish is supposed to bring good luck for the New Year. It was a custom started by the Germans and then continued by the Pennsylvania Dutch. And no, I am not Pennsylvania Dutch. I am just Pennsylvania  I know plenty of you will be cringing and scrunching your nose at the word "sauerkraut" but the trick to make it taste good is to drain it and rinse it in cold water at least 3-4 times. This gets out all of the awful bitterness and then it tastes amazing when you cook it with the pork!

I'm Pennsylvania dutch and still can't stand sauerkraut!!! I've tried it prepared all kinds of ways but I just can't do it. I have a pork loin in the crock pot though.

Why would people fire guns off? What goes up must come down. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

People don't understand that. We had a home here get hit last night by a stray bullett. It came down through the roof and hit the footboard of a bed with a 2 year old in it.

We're here for you, buddy.

One last day of relaxation before starting the old daily grind again. Well, the work makes the vacations possible and makes the weekends sweeter! And I'm grateful to be in a steady job.

Have a fun New Year's Day!

You are so right...it IS "THIS YEAR" That makes me feel better already! ;-)

Good morning! Hope this finds everyone getting out of bed with no headache. I surely don't, because we just stayed up until 2:00 and watched movies. Then, wifey set the alarm for 9 thinking we were going to get up and go shopping...

Well, guess who is the only one who got up? That's right...the person who didn't want to go shopping....

I just told her that I was leaving in 30 minutes...with or without her...you should have seen the look when I got to the without her part...

whew...somebody is gonna catch one in a few minutes...hehe....

You better be nice!! It's a little cold to be sleeping in the dog house.

I don't mind it as long as it is rinsed well & has some brown sugar mixed in with it!!!!
