Christmas Countdown - 2013

I got on a roll and took down most of my decorations. I actually feel okay with it. What helps is that I have the mini white lights up year round on one of my trees (not Christmas but decorative year round tree) and above my kitchen sink that is attached to leafy year round garland. I also pick 2 or 3 small Christmas decorations that I leave out year round. I don't keep the same ones out each year, I rotate with a different one each year.

I might end up taking down the rest, haven't decided yet!

The hours are not what I thought they were going to be, but the money could be double what I make now. I will talk to my wife and he should be calling around 5. LOL!!!! It scared me to death the first time he brought it in!! I hid down one of the aisles until one of the other employess dragged me out to pet him.

It was always interesting to see the look on the faces of other customers when he came in.
 
Glad you did well, Xmas. Now you just need to decide. It can be scary but exciting at the same time. Here's hoping you feel peace about your decision.

Good evening! Hope all is well with you all! I was hoping to get caught up this evening, but remembered that our Internet is out, so I only have my 3G on my cell to use, to check in on here, so I can only do that briefly.

Verizon can't come until Thursday, which makes us a little unhappy. Hopefully it is something that is a quick fix. It is probably good anyway I am not spending too much time on here - I have certification that I have to study for, for work and the test is next week. I already have the certification, but any test still makes me nervous!

Hopefully tomorrow I can briefly through the posts, as tomorrow is my day off - I just don't like to be using too much without wifi. Talk to you guys then!

I got my phone call around 6pm.

I got the job!!!


But...



...I turned it down, if I took it I would have been working 12-9 Mon.-Fri. and 8-1 Saturday mornings. I would have missed my boys growing up, my father wasn't there for me after my parents divorced, and I wasn't going to let that happen to my kids. I want to watch them play baseball games, Cub Scouts, and whatever endeavor they decide to do. I was teary after I hung up with my interviewer, I really wanted this job. I want to maybe even need to change careers, the money would have made us comfortable, maybe even very comfortable, but time with my family is more important. He understood, and told me if I change my mind to call him.

Everything happens for a reason.

I admire your decision!!! What a fantastic dad you are!

I have been having this same conversation with my daughter who is a college teacher. She has the hours she desires with 4 weeks paid vacation a year. She has been offered 3 different promotions that would be a LOT more money but would be a lot more stress and take up a lot of her time away from her family, which worried her. I told her money is not everything and to carefully think it over before doing so. She graduated college, set in a career of teaching with decent pay. I told her I am very proud of what she is doing and that I am here to support her in whatever she decides.

Good for you on your decision!

Good for you that you got the job but i can see why you turned it down
Awful long hours everyday, and can see what you mean about the kids. your wife wood have been doing a lot of stuff on her own as well

I agree with CAH and Shellie. Good for you!! Money isn't everything and you can never get that time back.
