I miss snow days. My favorite snow day of all (stop me if you've heard this one) was one elementary school Friday. I lived very near the school and always walked. I got to school a little early in spite of the snow and sat down with a few others. The book orders from Scholastic Books had come in (we used to get a flyer that we could order books from), so the teacher handed out the books to those who had ordered them. Then the principal came in and asked which of us had walked to school. We raised our hands, and the principal said "Have a nice weekend! Bye!" Outside, they were sending the buses back as they arrived. So I had a snow day with a bunch of brand new books to enjoy!

Just a quick hello friends! I just got home from a long day and have to head right back out to get some milk and a few other items and of course our dinner...We tend to eat out school nights now which is fine with me. It's so easy to keep the kitchen clean that way! Now on the weekend we still cook and all. Well it looks like we have another day of 80F weather before we cool down. It looks like snow is already in Arkansas and Miss and La. is getting sleet and ice. Of course we are getting rain but we desperately need that! Okay I may be back later tonight... I have to decide what I want tonight to eat...talk to yall later!

You are right about it being bittersweet. I will miss it, but I got a taste of retirement while I was off during chemo and radiation. So I think I just might truly enjoy it!

Oh and Seawaters: contrats on your retirement!!! I know you are so excited about it! And Feb1st is not far away at all! it's just around the corner...I would imagine as a teacher retirement is bittersweet. My grandmother was an elementary English teacher for 34 years and after she retired she would talk about the "olddays" teaching and I remember her old students as adults were always coming up to her everytime I took her somewhere in town.. I bet your students are going to miss seeing you leave though... enjoy your retirement you sure deserve it!

Now I'm hungry ... count me in for lasagna and potato soup. And the recipe for the crockpot lasagna, too! (Oops, sorry if you heard my stomach growling.)
 
I was the lucky one. Over the years, I have had so many special kiddos. I love it when I run into them at the grocery store and they have their own kids with them.

Agree on this one for Seawaters, big congrats, but of course there will be some bittersweet feelings on ending this career. I remember my students well over the years- full time teacher for 3 years, subbed for 17 more. It is a very special profession indeed. How lucky would a student be to have Seawaters as a teacher...one can only imagine!

I looked at the photos on the Internet. So interesting. I was thinking the same things as Brad, trying to figure out why they couldn't outrun it; but the article I read said that the flow was 35 mph!

I love the Scholastic book orders. Nowadays, there is a minimum order, so if your students don't order enough, you end up spending more money than you want. No, I hadn't heard that one before. At least you had your day mapped out for you!

Went to my financial planner and got the requisite signature about the rollover. Then I went to the district office to turn in my resignation letter. Only 12 more school days for me to work!!!
