Thanks friend!! Have fun at your BIL's. I was going to go to my cousins house but now everyone is coming over here.

Have fun!

Good Saturday morning! Hope you are enjoying it as much as I am! I'm super excited about today. My favorite basketball team plays on TV and there is racing tonight! We are going over to my BIL house to watch everything and cook out. Can't wait!

On a great note, Wifey feels better! She was off yesterday and felt good enough that she cleaned all day. Not that I really care if she cleans, but I'm just happy she feels better. I'm glad she's pregnant, but not if she is going to be sick the whole time...that won't be any fun!

Made, I'm still thinking of Mom.....

Have a nice time at your BIL's. Glad to hear your wife is feeling better!

last night I had an oppurtunity to find on Demand and watch, Scrooge. It was the 1935 B&W with Seymour Hicks; well, I was sort of taken back with the poor quality/ conditon of the film; it was in terrible shape. I was a little upset to myself last night, thinking all along that the film is on the way to being lost forever from age, wear and or abuse.

But, If what I just read on the Internet is true, the film has now been saved, repaired and remastered. Maybe someone or Merrycarey might know or have some insight/ information that the film now has been restored and is now protected? It would be a terrible waste to see it lost....

MerryCarey is definitely the person to ask. She is our resident expert, but she will deny that FACT. She does know whereof she speaketh in the movie department! Her love and knowledge of the classics shines through.

Yesterday was nice, temperature-wise, just like a late spring day. I still wish we could have some real winter weather, but I guess that won't be happening. I am going to be working on some decluttering and organization for several days. It is not my favorite thing to do, but I do love the ultimate results.

Tell me more! Where did you read this on the Internet? I hadn't heard of any new restoration effort on this film, but if one is happening, I'd love to know more about it.

Short background: This film fell into the public domain---i.e., the copyright expired, so anyone is free to copy it and sell it. Because of its PD status, most of the video copies you see are from poorly printed dupe prints, or damaged/abused/worn prints, or incomplete prints (the film was reissued in a cut-down version). I can tell you what an original quality print looks like---we're lucky enough to own a vintage 16mm print that was struck only a year after the film was released and is in very good condition for its age. The image quality is SO much better than most videos.

If you want the best-quality DVD version available, get this one.

It was produced by a company that had access to the original 35mm film elements, and is complete---NOT the cut-down reissue.

Many viewers don't care for the Hicks version of "Scrooge" because of his "stagy" portrayal. But consider that he played the role onstage, in a silent film, on radio, and in a talking film, and was England's favorite Scrooge for decades. We're lucky his interpretation was recorded for posterity, even if it appears "over the top" by today's standards. It's a window on Christmas history---a living relic of Christmas past. If the original elements are now being repaired and restored---Hallelujah! I guess you can tell I'm very much in favor of film restoration.

Here's a sad-but-true bit of trivia: Well over half of all films made before 1950 have been lost forever due to decomposition. Many films awaiting restoration will decompose before money is available to save them.

Gooooood Morning everyone!!!

Chico is sleeping on my mousepad and I don't have the heart to remove it from under him. He looks too comfy! So I am using the mouse without the pad!

Busy weekend for us but fun stuff!

I hope you all have a beautiful Saturday!

Awww...give that sweet little boy a kiss from his Auntie CM3 xo

CM3,
I agree with Made & CAH. The QA lady is on a power trip. Boo to her!! Don't give her the satisfaction of getting upset. You're awesome at what you do!!
XO

Xmas, you are in my thoughts & prayers. Hope a new opportunity is around the corner!

Seawaters, let me work on some Pippi links ;)

Xo

Awww, thanks Snowflake !! xo

Good afternoon Christmas family

I had a lovely lunch with a dear friend I haven't seen for probably about two years. Now, however, I am not feeling well. I think there must have been red meat products in my food because since I haven't eaten meat for over 20 years it makes me very ill if I get any meat products. I read if a person stops eating meat for a long time that the body stops producing the means to digest it. I definitely have all the symptoms of having gotten some meat products. Sure hope I get over this so...I really am quite sick.....

She said her arm is hurting more today but she has also been forcing her self to use it more than the last couple of days. I also think she is walking a little better. She's lifting her foot up now instead of just kind of shuffling it along.

I hope you feel better soon, CM3!!! There is also a pretty bad stomach bug going around. Both of my sisters have it right now.
