Well, we check out in the morning, spend one last day with Gloria, and start our long trek home tomorrow night. I always feel so sad to leave our beautiful surroundings, and we always miss Gloria terribly, and it's tough to go back to everyday work and worries. But we've had some beautiful times here to remember. And Gloria is determined to master her iPad so she can stay in touch via email. We'll be back home Tuesday evening.

Good Monday morning, my Christmas friends!

Mom's birthday party Saturday night was a great success! We had about 80 people, and they were all able to keep the secret, so she was super surprised when she arrived. My brother has a 1930 Model A Ford that he stores at his shop, and he picked her up at home in it. We told her we were all just going out to eat for her birthday, but he brought her out to the masonic lodge where the party was setup, and she started crying. LOL

We finished up around 11pm, and I was beat from jousting with the huge charcoal grill. I cooked 120 hamburgers and 140 hotdogs. Whew! But it was a blast.

I spend most of the day yesterday cleaning up the lodge and returning everything we had borrowed for the party. It was fun, but now I'm glad it's behind us.

This week, we have Vacation Bible School, so I have to get back to work.

There has been a quiet soaking rain off and on since late last night - great for the gardens. I walked around outside after I got home - I think the tomato plants all grew an inch or more!

Good Monday everyone! I am on lunch break and just wanted to pop in to say hey! I am trying to stay off internet at least the first day.lol maybe in a few weeks I will come back more often during the work day. Everything is going good though and I really am liking the people I am with. Tonight we are eating chicken and lime tortillas and that sounds great! Have a great day everyone!

We miss you and SIT, but do take it easy! We all understand the word "busy," and we know you work so hard. How are the grandkids? Do you have a vacation coming up so you can relax? Take care!

Howdy! Wow! I have been away for 10 days. Way too long but still don't have time to do much on here. Busy, busy, tired, tired! Why, oh why does summer have to be so hard on me? We haven't truly hit the high temps yet and it's already wearing me down. It will be in the mid 90's all week and I am not looking forward to the triple digits. I really try to not let it tire me out but it hasn't worked yet.

The good news.... The heat makes me think of Christmas even more!!! We just watched Snowglobe, Home Alone and now A Christmas Story. I say "watch", it's actually just going while we are busy with other things, just nice to hear it in the background!

I am really missing you all but starting Wednesday I will be even more busy. I will do my best to visit more!

Heads up for those east of California: Woke up during the night to a LOUD thunderstorm!!! It is a little chilly outside and the sky is overcast. The thunder is the loudest I have ever heard in CA--it even rattled the windows and woke me up. WEIRD weather!!!

we are expecting thunderstorms tonight too, had one a couple of weeks o that rattled our windows, really made me jump!

Good afternoon from rain-soaked mid-Michigan!

There has been a quiet soaking rain off and on since late last night - great for the gardens. I walked around outside after I got home - I think the tomato plants all grew an inch or more! I spent the morning running errands and looking for store stock - found a few things that just need a good cleaning and also found a pile of Magic Crochet magazines. I am really tempted to keep those as there are some wonderful patterns in them and if I ever got around to making the items, they would make great Christmas gifts!

I agree! Crazy weather! I turned the furnace on at the lake Thursday night. Brrrr!!

We had a great weekend at the lake! Weather was great - warm, not hot. Chilly nights = awesome bonfires.

Saturday a horrible thing happened - I took pictures for the Siren Sounder 5k - I took a great picture of 3 (guy) friends walking together - the fire truck was right behind them since they were the last of the walkers. I got the picture, they were all smiling/laughing & about 5 minutes later, 1 of the 3 guys had a heart attack & died. So horrible! He just lost his wife April 25 to cancer - they have 4 kids, the youngest is going to be a senior in high school. Just too sad!!!

I got the picture, they were all smiling/laughing & about 5 minutes later, 1 of the 3 guys had a heart attack & died. So horrible! He just lost his wife April 25 to cancer - they have 4 kids, the youngest is going to be a senior in high school. Just too sad!!!

That is horrible. Praying for his family.

oh my, that is so shocking and sad. That last picture will be a treasure for his children knowing he was so happy at the end.

I am back at work tomorrow, seniors lunch decorations done, cake baked and in fridge ready to decorate.
