It was an awfully busy day at work. I didn't get to check in before tonight. One of those days when I'm in the middle of a job, and it's interrupted by a priority job ... so I finish that, go back to the original job, and get interrupted AGAIN ... it went like that all day, and everyone eager to get THEIR job done first. Hardly a moment to breathe, although I did sneak out and take a 10-minute walk just to clear my head. I was feeling very low all day, had something on my mind. Didn't feel better until Mr. got home. We watched a Hildegarde Withers mystery starring good old Edna May Oliver and James Gleason---"The Penguin Pool Murder." Gotta run for now ... we're getting rid of a computer station and chair to make room for a sofa that we're getting from MIL's downsizing, and I have to take a photo of them to send to my BIL to see if he wants to take them.

I hope you are having a much better day today!!!!

Goodnight, friends!!

LOVE this picture!!!!

Well the time for bed has come, it was a rather productive evening, I came up with an impromptu chili for dinner. I didn't have my usual ingredients to make my normal recipe so I used what I had in the cabinets, a jar of spaghetti sauce, can of kidney beans, ground turkey, salsa, habanero sauce, and spices and I had a nice fire breathing chili. Surprisingly very good!

Good night, all!

That chili sounds delish! Had to be the habanero sauce! Lol!

Oh yea, I'm right with you on that. Why is it, that chili always hits the spot just right?

Chili and some real good corn bread.....mmmmmmm, my tummy is starting to growl already!:-D

Speaking of corn bread...you should try this recipe sometime - from an Amish cookbook in Pennsylvania:

Cheesy Cornbread

1 sweet onion
1/4 c. Butter
1 egg beaten
1/3 c. Milk
1 c. cream style corn
1 box Jiffy corn mix
2 drops hot pepper sauce
1c. Sour cream
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Dill weed
1 c. Grated cheddar

Preheat to 425. Slice onions thinly. Sauté until soft. Combine mix, egg, milk, sour cream, corn, pepper sauce and pour into 8" Pan. Combine onions, salt, dill 1/2 cheese. Spread over batter. Sprinkle remaining cheese over onion. bake 25-30 min. Enjoy!!

Morning all!! Hope this finds everyone well! A week to go until the kids are back at school!! These hols seem to have flown by, I had all sorts of plans to meet up with other mums and kiddies and I havent managed any meet ups!!

The hubby is at hospital this afternoon, he had a MRI scan on his knee about 4 weeks ago now so going for the results later today!! Been told worse case senario is a ligament reconstruction?? think thats what the consultant said anyway! Hopefully it wont be as bad as that and its something they can treat easier!!

119 days to go!! The season will be upon us in no time!! and I for one am soooo ready for it lol!!!!

Have a great day all xxxx

Hope it all went better than expected for your hubby! Sending prayers up!

I could put those numbers on my bike, too, as long as I could put a decimal in front of the 3! Yep, I could do .35 miles, LOL!!!

Ha ha ha Seawaters!! If you have a really good bike, riding is SO much easier!!! Never in a million years would I be riding 35 miles if I still had my old bike!

and now, off to work again for the day!
Have a good one everybody!

Have a greta day CS!

.......love the earthy , musty scent of fallen leaves.....not to mention the crunching sound it makes when you walk over it.

This reminds me - I was so surprised to see so many leaves had fallen across the bike path at the lake - just in 1 area! When we rode our bikes over it Sunday morning, I just loved the sound of the crunching leaves - and the smell!!

Good morning, all

Quickly popping in before I have to drop off the boys at my in-laws house and head to work. It is the last day of summer vacation for JP, so the real fun will begin tomorrow when it's time to wrangle him out the door in time. I have my inventory tonight so I work this evening and tomorrow evening, but I have this upcoming weekend off so 2 nights in one week is fine with me. Our local orchard opens for business this Saturday, my wife wants to go there and see if they have a Halloween tree to decorate in the house for October, she has been wanting one for a few years now, and after Labor Day it is free game to start decorating for Fall/Harvest/Halloween.

Have a great day!!!

Love the Halloween tree idea! Please post pics!! I have been seeing more & more houses with pumpkins on their front porch! My uncle has pumpkins going almost all the way around his flagpole already!

Hi everyone, miss you guys!!!

Have a good day judesmama!

Speaking of fall colors, I bought a skein of Red Heart Fall (0981) variegated yarn and Red Heart Grape Fizz (3931) yesterday to do a test piece of each to see if I liked those colors. The Grape Fizz is jeweled tone. I want to make an afghan for Lily (my granddaughter). Her favorite color is purple, so I think she will like it. I will do a ripple along the lines of what we discussed regarding the rainbow variegated.

I was going to copy and paste a pic, but I am on my iPad and don't know how to do that without the Control key.

Ooooh, can't wait to see pics!!! Sounds great!

Good morning!!!

I just read the Farmers Almanac winter prediction! Brrrrrr!!!

:cold:

Have a great day everybody!!!

Thanks for letting me know about the link.

Thanks for the pattern! Looks like a good one for a variegated yarn. If I'm not mistaken, it's similar to the quickie baby afghan pattern on the Caron "Pound of Love" skeins. (That pattern has come in handy several times when I got a rush request for a baby blanket!) I hadn't seen it done as a square. I'm not a big fan of the sort of open latticework that joins the squares, but I could always joins the squares another way ... Also, must try it in Christmas colors or red, white, and blue! Or fall colors for Halloween ... Thanks again for sharing that!

P.S. The download link doesn't download a PDF, so I just printed it instead.

Good Morning my Christmas Friends!

We are expecting some more triple digit temperatures. Blah! Fall will be here soon! As Gabulldawg mentioned about coming out of summer hibernation, I cannot wait to come out of it myself! Bring on the cooler temps!!!

I have a busy day ahead. I hope you all have a Merry Day!

Stay Cool and hope you are feeling better!!!!!

I bet Ryan would like Hildegarde Withers!

Evening you all :) It's funny to see most of you just starting your morning and it is already after 4pm here!

I tried to share a few photos from over the weekend but it exceeds the size limit on here.

I ordered a special limited edition Monoploy set last week. It came with an additional 5 tokens all in gold including the new cat! But guess what......they sent me just the normal version which I already have! I was so disappointed when I opened it. I have sent a complaint I just hope they will send me the one I want if there is any left!

Ok well off to make food, bath kids, bring laundry in, tidy the toys away.....domesctic rush hour begins...LOL!

Speak to you all later!

I hope they correct their mistake for you! They should!! That's frustrating! Enjoy your evening!!!

Your weekend sounds like a fun time. We have a three-day weekend next week, with Labor Day as our holiday. Of course, for me, every day is a holiday since I have retired. Sometimes I don't even know what day it is!

Sort of like the song by Chicago, "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?"

Written by Robert Lamm
Lead Vocals by Robert Lamm

As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me what
The time was that was on my watch, yeah...And I said

(I don't) Does anybody really know what time it is
(Care) Does anybody really care (about time)
If so I can't imagine why (Oh no, no)
We've all got time enough to cry....

Good Morning!
How is everyone and how was your weekend?

It was a three day weekend here I can't believe how quickly it went by. On saturday we visited a wild animal park. The park is really interactive and you can get quite close to the animals. Needless to say we really enjoyed our vsit! There were Lemurs and Monkeys roaming about.

On Sunday we decided to go to car racing instead of Whitby. It was the Gold Cup and there was also a couple tours and demonstrations so it was a fun event. In a male dominated house like ours I've gotten used to the boys getting their way lol.

Yesterday we just had an easy day. We watched the new GI Joe and played board games and recovered from a very busy weekend.

I doubt I will be able to catch up on all that I have missed on here over the last three days! I hope I haven't missed anything important. I hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to the week!

I am with you on the open latticework for afghans; however I did use it on a long skirt I crocheted as a welcome-home outfit for me to wear when my (then) husband came home from overseas. I wore a body suit the same color as the skirt, hose that were the same color, and shoes that matched in color. This was back in 1972.

Speaking of fall colors, I bought a skein of Red Heart Fall (0981) variegated yarn and Red Heart Grape Fizz (3931) yesterday to do a test piece of each to see if I liked those colors. If you tap on an empty line (in Tapatalk), I think it will give you an option in insert a photo---works best if the photo is in your Camera Roll or Photo Stream. I haven't posted a photo using iPad in a while, and Tapatalk has gone through a few updates since then.

The colors and ripples ideas sound great!

I bet Ryan would like Hildegarde Withers!

I was hoping he'd see my post and give her a try. I love the three movies with Edna May Oliver! And the mystery books and stories are good, too ... not so much for plot, but for characters and dialogue. The story goes that after Stuart Palmer saw how Oliver played Miss Withers, he began to write the character of Miss Withers based on Edna May Oliver's interpretation! I recall one book where Miss Withers goes to Hollywood and keeps getting stopped for autographs by people who think she's Oliver.

For those who don't know, Hildegarde Withers is a mystery story detective from the 1930s to the 1960s created by writer Stuart Palmer---she's an old-maid schoolteacher who is friends with a salty police chief in New York City and keeps involving herself in murder cases and annoying her friend by solving them.

I just don't understand creative copywriting. Specifically, how a campaign that consists of long statements printed in all-cap bold block letters on buildings and walls and sidewalks with no punctuation and NO mention of the client can drive business to (un)said client ... I spent quite a bit of time penciling in the correct punctuation, but I'm sure it'll all be rejected 'cause it interferes with the design. I say **** the design and use proper punctuation so readers can understand the message instead of having to puzzle it out! But then again, I'm not a highly paid Creative Person. Such is the life of a proofreader, the silent red-pencil cry in the creative wilderness ...
