Christmas Countdown - 2013

Good afternoon,

I have been busy today, went to get my haircut, I no longer look like a Chia pet. I mistimed my day, and left too early so after my haircut I had to kill over 90 minutes to get to my dentist appointment. So, what does a Christmas nut do to kill time? Go to all the stores and check out how all the Christmas displays at all the stores are going. I went to Macy's, they have theirs all set, a lot of nice high end stuff. Sears, they are truly pitiful if you want something else besides a tree. Ocean State Job Lot, was setting up lots of cards and lights out. Kohl's, the best of the lot, nice set up and FULL! I checked other stores but nothing to report. Of course, I forgot my cellphone at home, so I have no pictures.

Howdy! I have been busy and haven't had much time to visit. Got a lot going on the next few weeks, all good stuff! I love this time of year.

Wayne and I hit up the sale at Bath and Bodyworks over the weekend buying candles. 2 for 22 bucks plus 20% off. We bought Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, Evergreen and Fresh Balsam. I already bought 2 Pumpkin Cupcake candles over a month ago and burned them all the way down. Had to get another!

We reached a high of mid 70's at 11 am this morning and have been dropping in temps today. It will get down to the mid 50's, north winds blowing and rainy all day. I am LOVING IT!!! I have the house opened up and burning a Pumpkin Pecan Waffle candle now with Christmas DVD's playing while getting some chores done.

I hope everyone is having a Merry Day!

Wayne and I hit up the sale at Bath and Bodyworks over the weekend buying candles. 2 for 22 bucks plus 20% off. We bought Pumpkin Cupcake, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, Evergreen and Fresh Balsam. Good morning!
The house is so chilly this morning! The temperatures have been dipping down in to the 40's at night but it has been warming up in to the upper 60's during the day. We still haven't turned the heat on, my hubby wants to wait until its a bit cooler during the day. I can't wait to see how the radiant heat in the floor is going to work. I hope we like it after all the work my husband did.
Not too much going on today. I already walked the dogs and went to the supermarket for a few things. I saw a gingerbread haunted house kit while I was there. I think I may pick one up next time, they are so cute! I need to get started on some household chores soon. And my daughter has a job interview at the outlets this afternoon and I'm going to take a ride with her. There is a Christmas Tree Shop there and I always like to walk around and see what they have.

my brothers house has the radiant heat and it is great, I love going over there on a cold day, my feet are never cold.

Good morning MMC! Our day started out with a beautiful sunrise & within minutes the sun was gone & we haven't seen it since. It's really foggy now! Crazy weather. We are supposed to hit 72 today but unless the sun comes out, I have my doubts. This is the last day predicted to hit 70's in the 10 day forcast. I have a feeling our furnace will be getting more use by the end of the week!

I went to the garden after work last night & picked some HUGE tomatoes! We aren't getting a whole lot of maters anymore, but some of them were just huge! More fesh salsa coming up! :grin: Then I mowed the lawn! Then I changed up the seasons & I finally got my Fall & Halloween decs up in the house! I turned on Christmas music & decorated it up!

After that, I watched Halloweentown on Disney while working on my Christmas afghan. I had never seen that before. It's cute!

Not much going on today. My boss' were in a tizzy by the time I walked in the door this morning...GREAT...so it's been "one of them days" already! Ha ha!

Black Friday is a black eye on the holiday season now. (imo) It isn't how it use to be, it use to be a fun day to work. Last year was the first time in all my years of working on BF that I didn't feel safe.

We are done with the weed eating. We live on the side of a mountain so we really have no lawn. I keep a lot of it natural and weed eat around house and keep the briars cut in the woods. Now we are in leaf raking mode. The leaves from the Popular trees are falling. I rake them away from the house and into the woods.

I wasn't happy when I read about that. At least they're opening at 8 p.m. so employees may have SOME Thanksgiving with their families. But as the opening hour for retail stores has crept steadily backward from midnight, it probably won't be long before most stores decide to stay open all Thanksgiving Day. I'm not happy with that thought.

When the shopping frenzy becomes so intense that people are hurt---or even killed, as has already happened in past years---something's wrong. Christmas shopping can be a fun event, or a frightening example of commercialism at its most violent. As for us---the day after Thanksgiving in our house is for wrapping gifts and preparing gift packages for mailing and shipping, while playing Christmas music and OTR. It's relaxing and fun.

Hi everyone. Hope your all well and best wishes to those who aren't at the moment. Just reading the comments above re Macy's opening time. Disappointing for familys who have people working. It seems retail workers are really getting a rough time come holidays. It's the same here I'm afraid. Every holiday bar thankfully Christmas day, shops just open as normal giving workers a pretty raw deal on family life.

Xmas I agree on the black eye for Black Friday. There was a picture in our paper of a woman screaming with a shopping cart running through a store at 3:00am... Sad

I went out one year. Got to the mall at 3:00am because they were doubling gift cards- what you put in, they doubled. I went out for that- saw people carrying sleeping kids in pajamas. And people jumping over planters and running through the mall. I got my gift card and left. Was home in bed by 3:30 and I said never ever again.
