I had another thought: you should get an infrared camera like my stealthcam, put it up high out of sight, then stuff your mailbox with a lot of empty envelopes. Even if the camera is not very close to the mailbox, most of them have very high resolution, so you can zoom in on the perp.

That's a really good idea! I've been thinking about that all night last night about how I could set up a sting. I guarantee you, the next place where I am going to be living will have cameras on the front and rear that will be recorded onto a DVR in the house.

There is a neighbor of mine (2 doors up from me) that has a camera hooked up on his front porch. The police are going to talk to him tonight and ask him if his camera picked up anything....

In the mean time, I just spent the last three hours, talking to the police, going to the banks, I will now have to slowly close two checking accounts and start two new ones; (the police and bank recommendations). because, each check has your account number and mailing address on them. The thieves can forge and or order new check books with your information on them.... This really stinks.....:-?

Good morning MMC! Happy Friday! Sorry I didn't get to respond to all the posts I wanted too - I'm running out of time! It's quitting time! YAY!!! Hubby is on vaca today so I'll go see what he's up too!

Last night I browned the sausage sautee'd the onion/celery for sausage dressing & then I mixed it together & froze it. The less I have to do next week, the better! The house smelled SO good! I also cleaned the basement & dusted our bedroom(they wil put their coats in there) & cleaned the aquarium....I'm crossing things off my "to do" list!

Tonight we have an engagement party, tomorrow morning I am going to small town/old fashioned type Christmas open house shopping with the lake girls! Hubby is going to the football game tomorrow night - I MIGHT put up my tree?! Sunday we have my FIL's side Thanksgiving. There goes the weekend!

Ok, I'm outa here. Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Friday!!!

Lots of fun things going on for you!! Enjoy!!

Hiho, it's the last weekend before Thanksgiving! I guess I better get some decorations up now, because next week is all about making pies. Got to have pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.

Getting excited about ThanksGiving! Making my first turkey, kind of a dry run for Christmas lol. Wish me luck!

Good morning my Christmas friends,

I had a really nice day yesterday at work (we had a pot luck) and it was very good and fun. Everything was great until I got home. I walked in the front door and my wife was standing there with all the mail I had stuck in the mailbox at 5:30am for the postman to pick up that day, all torn open and all the checks that I had written were stolen out of them. There were birthday cards for my nephew in there, bills, and prescriptions. Who ever did it, was not interested in them, just the personal checks. So, I filed a police report, called on bank last night to stop payment on a check (which cost me $35.00 dollars to do so). And today I have to call or go to another bank to stop payment on those checks...:-?

I am peeeeed-off beyond all means...If I could have gotten my hands on the little buggers that did that, I would probably be in jail myself right now. Now, I cannot ever put any more mail in my mailbox for the postman to pick up. Come to find out late last night from a neighbor, the very same thing happened to some people in an adjacent community near-by to us last week, and their checks that they wrote to utility companies were tampered with/ altered and cashed at a Wells Fargo in Virginia. Great!!!!

It's always something isn't it??? It's probably someone that doesn't believe in Christmas either.... two words come to mind...Smith & Wesson~

I'm so sorry to hear that. I can't believe how some people could stoop so low, it's disgusting.

very foggy morning here, all school bus's on 2 hour delay.
Off to work in a few minutes. Tonight and tomorrow working on the gingerbread house stuff. My "water" has a kitty footprint in it!! Penny, stay off the table!
Have a great day everyone.

Penny's a little stinker, lol. I hope you have a great day Christmasstar!

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

Well, The Nutcracker Ballet is upon us! Elizabeth caught up all her school work so she could be out today. They are putting on a short version of the ballet this morning for some Statesboro elementary schools that are taking a field trip to the studio. Tonight at 7pm is the first full show. I can't wait!

I also found out that we are going to the mountains on Thanksgiving Day! Yippee! A long weekend in my favorite place!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Good luck to Elizabeth!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to start cooling down here today too and it looks like we have a slight chance of rain. Then the cold really arrives this weekend with the high sunday only being in the 20's. It was a long night here. Mom had been slowly getting back to normal all day yesterday but took a turn for the worse around 9 last night. It was like she was starting to have another attack. She refused to go back to the ER though. So I made her take her anti clot med and some aspirin and just watched her all night. She never got any worse and thankfully this morning she is pretty much back to normal. She just still has a bit of a headache. I'm exhausted though because I didn't sleep at all. So nothing big on the agenda for me today. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Continued prayers for your mom. I hope you are able to get some rest today!

I'm excited too, can't wait! Good luck!

Thank you all for your prayers for my mum. It seems she is feeling slightly better today. And happy Friday everyone too! I'm glad that this crazy weekend at uni is finally over. I hope everyone will have a nice weekend. Best wishes!

Good afternoon!
It's another busy day here. I'm finally sitting down and having a much needed cup of coffee. My daughter had an appointment at a local college this morning and I decided to take a ride with her to keep her company. It took a lot longer than I thought. Then we stopped at the bank, post office, pet store and the butcher. I need to get some chores done now. I'm so happy I started dinner in the crock pot first thing this morning, so I don't have to worry about dinner. I have a beef vegetable soup cooking and it smells so good in here. I'm heading back out later this afternoon to visit my parents. I told my mother to have the coffee ready, I'm going to bring some cupcakes. I found a cupcake bakery nearby that also bakes gluten free, so I could pick up something for myself too!
I hope everyone is well and are having a happy Friday!

I play the piano a few times a year ... usually in November and December. (Can't play by ear at all, I have to read sheet music.) As a toddler I was fascinated with the neighbor's piano, so we got a little spinet when I was seven and I took lessons all through school and high school with a neighborhood piano teacher. I was the chorus accompanist for two or three years in high school, and played in the pit for a couple musicals. As a teenager I loved to play "selections" (medleys from Broadway musicals), vintage sheet music, and Christmas music. Sometimes I was asked to play for a church dinner or event. In recent years, though, there just isn't time, but I can't bear to give up my piano. I get it tuned annually and play a little during the Christmas season. My skill was never that great, and it's much worse now with the lack of practice, but Mr. loves anything I play. He's looking forward to hearing me play again this year after it's tuned.

I got a nice electronic keyboard on sale several years ago, and I get that out during the Season and play carols and hymns on the "organ"!

And thanks for the reminder about Simon's Cat ... I'll check the piano keys for little cat footprints before the tuner comes!
i was the opposite, I did not talke lessons until I was an adult, but was told I needed to learn to read music and not always play by ear. I no longer have a piano so have not played in years, I will have to sit down at one some time and see if I can still play.

Have fun at the ballet!

I am SO JEALOUS of you all going to the mountains for Thanksgiving! That is AWESOME! Have fun!

Hello! It's cold here but no ice...yet. I've heard Sunday we may get snow. I'm loving it and am glad y'all are too! I hope the snow makes it as far south as Dallas so you can enjoy it too!

Next time we are in Texas maybe we can run into y'all. Or you can come up here sometime and I'll show y'all around the Wichita Mountains! :)

I know the rest of y'all may laugh but when it snows in Oklahoma and Texas it doesn't take much for schools to shut down and government offices to close. As a state worker I say bring it!!! :)

That would be fun to meet up in Downtown when you all come down if nothing is going on with us at the time. Keep me posted! I will also be on the lookout for discounts and coupons for the exhibits for you all to use.

Oh yes! We are expecting some icing on Monday. The school might close. Like you said, it doesn't take much!

I'd love to be able to play by ear … those like you who can do it are gifted! If I want to play a tune halfway decently, I have to buy the music! I tried to train myself to play from a "fake book" (melody line and chord symbols), but I didn't have enough time to practice at it until the chords come naturally. Sometimes I stumble through something just for the exercise. How wonderful it would be to be able to just sit down and play!

so glad she is doing better and taking her meds. My mom would not take hers because her whole like she never needed any meds and certainly was not going to start taking them now! Any time the doctor puts her on anything she takes herself off again after only a couple of days. She suffers from occasional dizzy spells and you guessed it, will not take the meds the doctor put her on. This is why I will feel better when she gets into a place where a nurse will monitor things.
Hope you get a better nights sleep tonight.

That is the main reason that I had to move her in with me. She didn't take them before. Now that she is here I can monitor her and make sure she is.

Kim and I enjoyed our second movie of the Christmas Season yesterday. We watched The Polar Express on Blu-Ray. Polar Express isn't necessarily one of our favourites, but we enjoy it. The animation is wonderful and the message is something to which everyone can relate. As a matter of fact, I think all of us here can still hear the sound of that bell! :)

I know I still hear it!

it is also scary how easily someone can steal you identity. I sure hope they catch these people quickly.
