Good morning my Christmas friends,

I had a really nice day yesterday at work (we had a pot luck) and it was very good and fun. Everything was great until I got home. I walked in the front door and my wife was standing there with all the mail I had stuck in the mailbox at 5:30am for the postman to pick up that day, all torn open and all the checks that I had written were stolen out of them. There were birthday cards for my nephew in there, bills, and prescriptions. Who ever did it, was not interested in them, just the personal checks. So, I filed a police report, called on bank last night to stop payment on a check (which cost me $35.00 dollars to do so). And today I have to call or go to another bank to stop payment on those checks...:-?

I am peeeeed-off beyond all means...If I could have gotten my hands on the little buggers that did that, I would probably be in jail myself right now. Now, I cannot ever put any more mail in my mailbox for the postman to pick up. Come to find out late last night from a neighbor, the very same thing happened to some people in an adjacent community near-by to us last week, and their checks that they wrote to utility companies were tampered with/ altered and cashed at a Wells Fargo in Virginia. Great!!!!

It's always something isn't it??? It's probably someone that doesn't believe in Christmas either.... two words come to mind...Smith & Wesson~

Ugh, Sorry you are having to deal with this. I hope they catch them!!!!

that is so special that your brother will be close by. It is important that your mom has independence, like you say, and has someone close. You and your brother rock!!!

Agreed!!!! :-D

very foggy morning here, all school bus's on 2 hour delay.
Off to work in a few minutes. Tonight and tomorrow working on the gingerbread house stuff. My "water" has a kitty footprint in it!! Penny, stay off the table!
Have a great day everyone.

Have a great day at work, Star and stay safe on the roads!!!!

Good Friday morning, my Christmas friends!

Well, The Nutcracker Ballet is upon us! Elizabeth caught up all her school work so she could be out today. They are putting on a short version of the ballet this morning for some Statesboro elementary schools that are taking a field trip to the studio. Tonight at 7pm is the first full show. I can't wait!

I also found out that we are going to the mountains on Thanksgiving Day! Yippee! A long weekend in my favorite place!

I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

I had another thought: you should get an infrared camera like my stealthcam, put it up high out of sight, then stuff your mailbox with a lot of empty envelopes. Even if the camera is not very close to the mailbox, most of them have very high resolution, so you can zoom in on the perp.

Do you or Mr. play the piano? You might have mentioned this before but I must have missed it!

I am sure Simon's Cat plays when you are not home!

I play the piano a few times a year ... usually in November and December. (Can't play by ear at all, I have to read sheet music.) As a toddler I was fascinated with the neighbor's piano, so we got a little spinet when I was seven and I took lessons all through school and high school with a neighborhood piano teacher. I was the chorus accompanist for two or three years in high school, and played in the pit for a couple musicals. As a teenager I loved to play "selections" (medleys from Broadway musicals), vintage sheet music, and Christmas music. Sometimes I was asked to play for a church dinner or event. In recent years, though, there just isn't time, but I can't bear to give up my piano. I get it tuned annually and play a little during the Christmas season. My skill was never that great, and it's much worse now with the lack of practice, but Mr. loves anything I play. He's looking forward to hearing me play again this year after it's tuned.

I got a nice electronic keyboard on sale several years ago, and I get that out during the Season and play carols and hymns on the "organ"!

And thanks for the reminder about Simon's Cat ... I'll check the piano keys for little cat footprints before the tuner comes!

Good Morning MMC!!!!!! It's going to start cooling down here today too and it looks like we have a slight chance of rain. Then the cold really arrives this weekend with the high sunday only being in the 20's. It was a long night here. Mom had been slowly getting back to normal all day yesterday but took a turn for the worse around 9 last night. It was like she was starting to have another attack. She refused to go back to the ER though. So I made her take her anti clot med and some aspirin and just watched her all night. She never got any worse and thankfully this morning she is pretty much back to normal. She just still has a bit of a headache. I'm exhausted though because I didn't sleep at all. So nothing big on the agenda for me today. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning everyone! Happy Christmas Season!

I missed posting yesterday. I didn't receive a call. I was home for much of the day, but was busy around the apartment. As for today, I usually work Fridays, but we discovered that my car's front driver's side wheel-bearing needs to be replaced. We just fixed the belt on the car about two weeks ago and now this?! It's a real pain! I was quoted at $230. I am really hoping that's all it costs to fix. I can't afford all these payments. Especially with Christmas coming up!

Speaking of spending money, I finally purchased my flight home for Christmas. I had waited about a week later than I wanted to, but I managed to get the best price available. $393! Previously, it was as high as about $460. Now, the exact same schedule is $520. It seems as if I bought at the perfect time!

Enough about money. It's a decent day in Ottawa. A light drizzle is going on and off throughout the day. You can barely notice it when you're outside though. I had to bike back from the mechanic and it was a nice ride. Temperatures are just above freezing, too.

Kim and I enjoyed our second movie of the Christmas Season yesterday. We watched The Polar Express on Blu-Ray. Polar Express isn't necessarily one of our favourites, but we enjoy it. The animation is wonderful and the message is something to which everyone can relate. As a matter of fact, I think all of us here can still hear the sound of that bell! :)

Well, I should get going. I need to figure out a few things to do today. I hope everyone is enjoy their Friday. The Christmas Season is in double digits. It's full speed ahead from here. Let's continue to enjoy everyone moment. Merry Christmas!

Well, uni sometimes feels like a full-time job. I don't have that many lectures in a week but the workload outside the classroom is quite big although manageable. :] As for the blood donation, your case is very inspiring. I hope it wasn't my last time donating blood too.

Good evening! How is everyone's week going? I'm happy it's Friday. I'm now going through my last (for now) assessment which I'm submitting tomorrow. Yay for that. Also, I finally got in touch with my mum. I haven't heard from her for a week which is quite unusual. When I caught her on Skype, she told me she has been feeling very bad lately. She got one of those attacks with high blood pressure and very high pace of heart beats few days ago. Luckily, my dad was at home that night so he took my mum to the emergency department. She has skipped her job for two days now and been visiting different doctors to get many tests done. Her heart, liver and pancreas seem to be okey. Doctors found renal calculus (I guess this is the name in English). Fortunately, they are small enough to be washed out by drinking lots of filtered water and lingonberry tea. Anyway, doctors don't think that current renal state was the reason for those attacks so my mum is going to have her stomach and intestine biopsy done on 3rd December.

I'm sorry for quite a long post. I'm very worried about my mum and I wish I could be at home right now. I would very appreciate if you guys kept her in your prayers for nothing bad and more serious to happen. I would be incredibly thankful for that to you all.

Best wishes to all, and always make you health your top priority.

Victoria - keeping you & your Mom in my prayers!!!

Hey Ryan! I am not too far from you and we are getting some wintry weather this weekend too. Right now it's in the 30's. I am loving it!!!!!! It might get icy on Sunday.

Hello! It's cold here but no ice...yet. I've heard Sunday we may get snow. I'm loving it and am glad y'all are too! I hope the snow makes it as far south as Dallas so you can enjoy it too!

Next time we are in Texas maybe we can run into y'all. Or you can come up here sometime and I'll show y'all around the Wichita Mountains! :)

I know the rest of y'all may laugh but when it snows in Oklahoma and Texas it doesn't take much for schools to shut down and government offices to close. As a state worker I say bring it!!! :)

good evening,

one more week to go, and the mad turkey dash is nearly done. Lousy day as they all have been lately.

Watching an old christmas movie, "it happened on 5th avenue," such a great and underrated movie.

I also bought an "ugly christmas sweater," at kohls.com, i don't want to lose the ugly sweater contest this year.

Here is what it looks like:

it is more like a long sleeve tee. I like it, just add it to my christmas shirt collection. I'll post a pic of myself wearing it at some point.

I have to head to bed, i overslept this morning, those turkeys are wiping me out.

Good night, everyone.

I love it!!!!!!!! :-D
