Christmas Countdown - 2013

Here's "The Christmas Corner," with the huge poinsettia my co-worker sent me.

I got it home safely. I was lucky---I had a giant Ziploc bag in the back of my car that I could put it in to protect it on the trip home. It's now on a little table next to my "library" sofa.

This continues to be a lucky day. I was able to order a lighted wreath that I wanted from Balsam Hill at half price and with free shipping!

Looks beautiful!! Glad you got it home safely!!!

A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard. During the night, someone came across this. An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night. We should all have the good sense of this dog and curl up in Jesus' lap from time to time. This is too sweet not to share. No one mentioned that the dog breed is a "shepherd!" FYI: THIS POOCH WAS RESCUED BY A CHURCH MEMBER

That is a great story.

It's snowing still!!! I love it! I measured 4 more inches this morning on the ground for a total of15.5 inches of snow on the ground since Sunday night early Monday morning! I am scared to look at the weather almost because I am afraid it's going to end and a warm will come to melt it all away! I worry too much I think. Just wanted to check in on this Thursday. It's been a very busy week at work. My goodness just 3 weeks till the big day! NO it's going way too fast. Thanksgiving being so late is what smushed it up it seems. I can't believe how fast November came and went. I mean it was just this morning it was Halloween. Brandi cooked a turkey breast on the slow cooker with yellow rice and lima beans with leftover thanksgiving ham chopped up in it. So it does not take too much convincing to get up and go! Talk to everyone tomorrow! Goodnight! and let it snow...let it snow...let it snow!!!!!!

Enjoy all of that snow!!! I'll be more than happy to send you a few inches of what we are going to get too!!!

wonderful tradition, mom and dad often talked about that when we were growing up. When they came to Canada they were encouraged to give up Dutch ways and become more "Canadian". As we grew older they started to add more of the Dutch traditions to our celebrations and all of us kids carry it on with ours.

Prayers, please, for a young mother who is a custodian at my school. She has stage 4 breast cancer that is now showing up in her bones. So sad for her two young sons.
