Christmas Countdown - 2013

Thanks to everyone for their well-wishes and prayers to my friend (and future roommate) Cassie's mother. Cassie's mom past away last night after a long battle with cancer. Both of her daughters, Cassie and Kristyn, and her life partner were by her bedside. It's tough - especially for me - to imagine the physical and emotional suffering Cassie is going through right now. Obviously, this time of year is something we all celebrate and cherish, and I can only hope that she can be strong during this Season and wish her and her family nothing but the best.

Again, thank you very much to everyone here. Your constant compassion is just another reason why I know that MMC has the best people on the internet and why I am truly grateful that you all are only a few clicks away. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Thoughts & prayers for Cassie to get through this difficult time, and for you and Kim as well. Sending you all strength & love.

Good Wednesday evening, y'all!

Our network is still messed up at work, so I couldn't post all day. Shoot, I couldn't work all day! The IT guys keep pushing us onto the network from our harddrives, then we're at their mercy when the network goes down.

It feels wrong, but I watched Star Trek: Into Darkness while at work today. Weird, but I couldn't do anything else, and I was available for the phone. I dunno.

Our company Christmas party is tomorrow night in Savannah. I hope it's fun. The company buys mens and ladies gifts, then we take turns choosing unmarked gifts, opening them, then swapping them for other opened gifts. I don't really like that game, I've seen a few folks get really irritated at losing the gift they wanted, while others folks are laughing and enjoying themselves. The meal should be great, anyway!

Please keep my brother in your prayers tonight, he drives truck, is just outside Winnipeg and it is -39c . Says he cannot keep inside of cab warm but he has to sleep in there tonight.

Good evening everyone.
Just popping in for a quick visit tonight. It's been a long day and unfortunately I feel another headache coming on. I'm going to turn in as soon as the girls get home from work. The outlets are staying open later now for Christmas. I'm not crazy about them having closing shifts and coming out of there so late at night, especially on school nights. Anyway I'm desperately trying to finish shopping for the girls. I'm going to try and wrap it up tomorrow. I have a few more things on my list so I will be heading to the mall again tomorrow morning.
I hope everyone had a great day and enjoys the rest of their evening.

I am so sorry to hear this! My sympathies and prayers are with her and their family. I'll be lighting a candle for her mother .

I remember the first PC I saw...my uncle had one in his home office and it was amazing! I remember the first time, years later, I was able to play a computer game. It was Bo Jackson's Baseball and it was awesome!

I remember when we got our first VCR in about 1985...it was expensive compared to how cheap DVD and even blu ray is now. It was close to $300 and that was in 1985 money!!!

Does anyone remover the first movie they watched in a VCR?

Yes definitely! We got ours as a family gift Christmas of 85. The first movie that I watched on it on the VCR was The Black Stallion.

Good evening,

I think the point of no return has finally hit, it was very busy tonight at work. It seems people are realizing Christmas is only 2 weeks away, and they are starting to shop very heavily.
My vacation for the week after Christmas has finally been approved, I only put in for it back in August. It is a relief knowing I have that coming up.
Just winding down visiting MMC and watching "Home Alone 2."

I should catch some shut eye soon.

I watch that tonight too! Why in the world did it take that long to get your vacation approved? My goodness! I would think it would be a much needed rest after dealing with everybody Christmas shopping. Goodnight Xmas.

In theory it should have been a simple day. I went to the car dealership that rents my husband's vehicle to him for the tour and renewed his contract till he returns. Then I drove back to Lakeland to Michael's craft store to buy new icicle lights which supposedly we're 70 percent off. By the time I got there they were sold out. I then went to 7 more stores all of which were either overpriced or sold out. I'll try again in the morning.

I got back to the house and was ready to get to work decorating and making presents when my mother in law called and asked me to come down to her house with my laptop to help her. While she was in New Orleans visiting her daughter her wallet was stolen. She found out that they ran up to charges on her debit card, credit card, Sears charge card, as well as the credit card of the elderly woman for whom she is a private duty home health care nurse. She was told to keep the card in order to buy groceries and household supplies for the patient. When they stole her wallet they also obviously got her drivers license, and her Social Security card. I spent the afternoon down there with my laptop trying to fix everything for her and order new cards and replace everything.

By the time I got back to my house I decided the only intelligent thing to do was sit in front of the Christmas tree with some hot chocolate and watch Home Alone, and Home Alone 2.
