I don't think you're a whiner. I think all of us here go through this to some extent. I know just what you mean when you say "it's just not the same after the 25th." We'll be watching some Christmas movies here in the next few days too, but the peak of the season has passed and it's more of an afterglow. But the celebration will continue!

Exactly! :-D

:tree:Well, here we are already, Christmas Day +1. I had to go to work today, I got here, and it's only me and this other guy here, out of 27 people, (I'm trying to save my vacation time). I have to take off tomorrow because, that's the day where we settle on our new home and we officially start moving in tomorrow afternoon....

I had a really nice Christmas Day (I hope you all did as well) under the circumstances of packing yesterday and Lisa having to work on Christmas Day. I got up early on Christmas morning and made fire in the fireplace, made this big breakfast for me and the kids and turned "A Christmas Story" on TV. I finished all the laundry in the house, packed up some more things, disassembled the computer and printer to get ready moving. We sort of stretched out the morning by making a Gingerbread house. I let the kids open their stockings and then we got dressed and headed over to Lisa's parents house, where I met up with Lisa, her grandfather and my sons girlfriend. We opened up gifts there in the afternoon. We had this huge dinner, followed up by desserts and coffee and we just hung out there until late last night.

I awoke this morning to a really beautiful snow event coming down, we got some lake effect snow squalls that came all the way down here from the great lakes....It was really coming down for about an half hour or so. It was enough to give everything a nice light coating of snow. It won't last long though, It's supposed to get up to 41 degrees today, but it was pretty~

Well, I hope everyone has a beautiful day today and please, enjoy you day with your family and friends!!!!:-D

Thanks again for this wonderful thread and countdown. I discovered it last year right after christmas. I entered the dates into my iPhone calendar. Every month I got a little surprise. I would take a screen shot and text the pic to our sons who are in college. It sure helped time go by quicker

Good afternoon, Christmas family!

We ended up getting over 4 inches of snow this morning - pretty, but messy out! The gas company delivered propane today and said that the main highway is in very bad shape so I stayed home. I am going to enjoy the time off!

Be safe and Merry!

Well I still have Christmas with my parents today and then the big Official Christmas with my ILs won't be till the 29th or 30th. We had a small thing with them Christmas Eve because my husband's youngest sister had to send her kids with her ex on Christmas day, around 11am. She wouldn't have them back till much later in the evening and wanted her parents to get to have as many of us there as possible on Christmas Eve/Day.

My husband's other younger sister is driving in from New Orleans on the 28th to pick up her kids, who flew in on the 21st to spend Christmas with their dad/her ex. ILs held off on the big spread and family bonfire till she can get here with her DH and kids.

Even with those two more acknowledgements of Christmas coming up - I'm trying, but I still am feeling that pressing sense of loss. I think too because it is my son's last Christmas with us as - our "child." Does that make sense? He's leaving for college in St. Louis, MO in August. Half the nation away. I think he'll come home for Christmas, but who knows?

I was watching the new Christmas movie with Candice Cameron where she is a real estate developer checking out the lodge that focuses on Christmas celebration. In it, the lodge owner is talking to her and says, "A son is a son till he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter for the rest of your life." I burst into tears.

There is so much coming up this year that I'm not looking forward to, I think I invested so much into this Christmas season emotionally that the close of it is feeling overwhelming.

Anyone remember that scene with Kevin Bacon in She's Having A Baby where he is strapped into that jet cart careening into a crash wall? That's what I feel like. LOL

Ah well... thankfully MMC is here and I can play on it all year through. :-)

Merry Christmas everyone! I pray your Christmas is merry and bright. :-D

We had the best Christmas yesterday. My husband had to work, so Mom and I spent the afternoon at my sister's house. Boy did she have a good dinner! Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sauerkraut with sausage, cranberries, corn pudding, mac and cheese, hot rolls, and green beans. After that there were homemade streusels and cinnamon rolls. Then we goofed around for awhile until Mom got tired and I took her home. It was only 6:00 by then, so I took my dog and myself over to Mom's house, and we sat around eating turkey sandwiches and watching the dog play with his new toys. I went home around 8:00, and found out that A Christmas Carol was on. My favorite version too! Well, they kept playing it, and I lost track of time and finally went to bed at 2:00am.

I am so sleepy right now I don't know what my name is.

Maybe I'll just keep staring at this computer screen until 3, when I can go home and have a nap. The charts will just have to stack up today.
what a lovely day!

So glad you had a great Christmas even with all the packing and preparing to move going on. It will be so nice for you to start the new year in a new home.
