I was, I'm ashamed to say, unsuccessful in getting everyone out of bed in time for church this morning. :-? Our service is early, 9:30 - 10:30 am, then our pastor drives to another church for an 11 am service. We'll have to have a devotional reading here in the living room to try to make up for it.

I do have something that's been weighing on me. Please forgive this:

An old friend and bandmate of mine is in jail, and has been for a couple months now, having started a good bit of trouble at a Beerfest near Savannah. He is bipolar, his first episode having manifested itself a few years back, and when he goes into the manic phase he's a big pain in the rear end. Since this started with him, I've defended him against all those people who call him crazy, explaining that it's just a chemical imbalance in his brain that can be controlled with medication. The problem is, he won't stop drinking long enough to take his medicine effectively.

I'm finally at my wits end with him. If he is going to choose to drink and skip his meds instead of taking care of himself, then he's on his own. I've refused all his collect calls from jail. Last week, I got a postcard from him, containing an apology of sorts, and a request for something to read. The jail allows books to be delivered from online retailers like Amazon. So, since it's Christmas and everyone deserves a Christmas present, I sent him a book yesterday.

I really hate that he has this burden to carry. His dad was bipolar, too, and I saw how embarrassing is was for him when we were kids. But new treatments can make the symptoms managable. All he has to do is give up the booze and put some effort into getting better.

Ah, sorry to unload this. His postcard is on my desk here, so it keeps him on my mind. He sounds better, judging from his writing, so maybe this time is the one that will change him...assuming he doesn't go to jail for a longer period after his hearing. Ugh.

I think I'll put on some Trans-Siberian Orchestra and grab a guitar. Have a great day, everyone! cheesy

Started shopping for 2014 .... Keeps me in the mood. Great sales out there. Yabba!!

all set up, waiting for the kids to come down.

Remember as mom said.. If we left it up year ling it wouldn't be special. I'll start later this week. It's been up a month. Time to get back to normalcy and think about 2014. Yabba!!

I feel the same way

((Hugs))

That's right!! Just 360 days, and we can count it down together ;-)

We are doing pretty good, thanks. Watching lots of movies, and try to stay warm. Dreading taking down the decorations..so I will throw myself into cleaning & redecorating a bit afterwards. At least I can transition a bit by leaving the winter decorations out =]

Looking forward to the countdown - with you!
When do you take your decorations down?
Im planning taking all my Christmas stuff down this weekend.
Well, maybe not the lights.
I love to have all my lights up during the dark cold winter...

Good Morning Everyone,
Cold and damp here in Texas. I'm working on keeping the PCB's at bay. Already did a little online Christmas shopping for my wife and our two boys last night. Got it ordered and entered into my handy Christmas shopping list APP on my phone! A little early shopping always helps :)

Hi Slim :hi:

Keeping them both in my thoughts & prayers

Does the cold exacerbate the coughing?

((Hugs to Molly & Maggie))

Today will be the first day that the cold is back, so I will keep you posted. She sure went potty much faster this morning!

I honestly don't know if the weather has anything to do with it. It might. I use to think the heat and humidity in the summer was making it worse but now it's cold out and they are still coughing!
Thank you for keeping them in your prayers, I really appreciate that!

We are having one last Christmas get together with my father-in-law's family and church this morning. Then, I will sit around a dread the fact that I return to the office tomorrow. I've gotten spoiled this past week! :)

What about you? Are you off work?

I've been awfully spoiled this past week, too. Got out of work early on Tuesday, then was off the rest of the week.
I have a full day of work tomorrow, hopefully a short day on Tuesday, then Wednesday off. Then it's back to the five-day-a-week grind! I think that's when Christmas seems to well and truly end for me, when the workday again commands most of my time.

breakfast was tasty.
now I have to get ready for church, I am doing children's church today, movie time with popcorn is on the schedule.
Not sure what we are doing this afternoon, maybe nothing but watching movies with my feet up!

That sounds like a wonderful plan … and a darned good suggestion! Save some of that popcorn for your movies!

That reminds me, I must make Chex mix for our traditional New Year's Eve movie marathon. It's the only time of year I indulge in it.

I feel your frustration with being sick. I'm someone that suffers migraines and if it comes with that 'v' word I am moaning and sobbing into the bucket 'cause i hate it and my family don't know what to do to help because I usually keep soldiering on... I actually carry the bucket around doing the washing!!!!

Oh, that's awful! I know feel having no right to complain about my running nose.

My resolution is to be myself more, rather than hiding my enjoyment of the simple things because people scoff. I'm going to remember that these things make me who I am and I hope it makes me a better person and hopefully people are affected positively by the happier me. Being happy with who I am will help me make a positive difference in the world around me.... what is that carry over effect? You smile and the world smiles with you?

Very good attitude. :]

I am watching, Christmas with the Kranks. I know it got terrible reviews but I really enjoy it! It's silly and corny but I think it is fun to watch!

I have realized that reviews are sometimes not the best things to rely on. I quite like that movie as well. :]

Good evening everyone!

Finally no strong winds and storms in South West Scotland. And finally I'm feeling well and getting ready to go home. My suitcase is already packed and I am leaving tomorrow evening because my flight is very early in the morning on Tuesday. I will have to spend the night at the airport. Oh well.

I hope everyone is still enjoying Holiday Season. :] Best wishes!

Goooood Morning MMC!!

The 29th. It's ticking down isn't it? Yep... 361 days to go till next Christmas. *cue Jeopardy theme music*

Does anyone have New Years Eve plans? It's funny when I was single I always had a party or something to go to or threw one myself. We got married and had a kid and in the last 18 years we went out and did something one time. LOL And that was because Bud was booked to do a New Years Eve show in DC. So while everyone in the civic center was counting down, I was in the green room on the phone with my mom saying goodnight to Noah who couldn't keep his eyes open anymore. LOL

We don't have any plans. Maybe we'll have a bonfire with his sister since she'll be here by then. :-)

Hope you all have a great day and all those who weren't feeling well are much better today.
