Good afternoon, and Happy New Year!!!!

WOW!!! I just went through 34 pages of posts, busy, busy, busy. all of you were.

I am still fighting the PCB's, trees are still all lit up, 88.9 is still playing Christmas music. They had the coolest tag line before commercial: "Making Christmas last. Why? Because we believe."

I ran out to KMart to pick up a 50% off nutcracker for LC's birthday in March, he will be so surprised. They have a lot of merchandise remaining. Just waiting until it goes 75% off.

I will be in throughout the night, beware of the champagne cream stuffed Twinkies at The Pines, they really grossed me out. cheesy

I made a chocolate birthday cake in honor of my mom's birthday - you should have tried a piece of that. I set it on the buffet table right next to the antique snowflake snack sets I brought along to use for plating the cake. They are so cool! :snowball:

Congratulations on finding another nutcracker for LC - I'm sure he is going to be thrilled!

Last night we were invited last minute to a friends house for New Years eve. I walked in and was dismayed to not find one shred of a Christmas remaining. Worse yet, they had a bonfire out back... I walked up to find them starting it with said dismantled tree. Yeah... I gotta be honest... I threw up a little. LOL

I too use our tree, but I strip all the branches off and clip them down for tinder/kindling. I cut off the base that sat in water up to the unsaturated section and then cut off slices like cookie dough, sand and then carve or burn for ornaments on the next tree or to give as gifts. One year I cut off a piece that was 7" tall, bored it out, carved star patterns and small trees in the sides, dipped in resin to preserve and used with 4" pillar candles.

The rest of the trunk I cut down to small logs to use in my little porch chimey out back.

If I can't replant it - you can darn sure bet I'll find a way to make it memorable of part of our lives. It was a living tree... I have to do something to have warranted cutting it down for a few weeks of display. LOL. Oh wow... does that make me uber sappy?

LOL Well maybe not - just when I start cutting it. ;-)

One of the reasons my family switched to artificial trees when I was a kid was how we hated what happened to the tree when we finally took the decorations down. I love what you do! It makes me inspired to have another real one. Of course, I so do not know how to do any of what you posted, but I can try. Thank you for the wonderful tips!

I have that VitaMix, same color too!

Looks like some yummy goodies there!

ROFL I love that thing!! My mom gave that to us for Christmas 3 years ago. At the time I thought, "Oh how cool is that?!" Two weeks later really started using it and became addicted.

Most of the accent pieces or appliances I choose are dark red. Three guesses what the other most often chosen one is - dark or pine green. Lots of red and black or green and black combos.

My husband just walked in the kitchen, started laughing and said, "You need to take a picture of that corner you're sitting in right now and post it. That about sums you up in an image."

I looked around because I was eating a small snack size package of left over Halloween pretzels, drinking from my favorite gray wolf coffee mug on which the wolf is laying in snow, had just brewed some Mistletoe Peppermint coffee and there was a cute Swiss Colony Christmas tin sitting there I was saving for next Christmas' gifts of cookies or truffles. All of which was in front of my VitaMix and KitchenAid mixer where I basically live.

Oh i wish we had coffees like that here. I might have to order some online. I managed to get Maple infused coffee and my son smells it as he comes in everytime and he doesn't drink hot coffee so cannot figure where that tantalising smell is coming from. I think i'll leave some in the house all the time!! But then I'll want to drink it!! Oh the dilemma!!

I do order that one. That's from http://www.coffeefool.com If you order on Fridays and use the coupon code "Friday" they take 20% off. I order most of my coffee from them. You can order the grinds from whole bean all the way down to Turkish powder. They sell pods for the Keurig too, but coffee filter type pods, not those plastic pop in things made for the Keurig systems. Love that!!!

Meceka, I might have to get with you sometime on canning veggies and more! I would love to start doing that. It will be later on if I can successfully grow a garden! Gardening here will start in late January starting with onions and potatoes.

Sounds good - I'll share what little I know. cheesy

I pulled out an older gardening book for reading this month. Planting here is usually the beginning of May - it is never too early to plan!

Just finished our last tradition of the season. Putting the note with the count down in the tree tote in the attic then taking a picture of it. 330 days until our tree goes up again :( I think its nice that my college age sons humor me by going up in the attic to place the note with me.

I can't believe how late it is already. There is a ton of stuff I need to do for tomorrow - it was nice to take a break today. The snowstorm that is going to hit where xmas365 lives is passing south of where I live in MI. I'm really glad we are not going to be hit by it - lots of errands to run in the coming days not to mention I have to work.

Be safe and MERRY!

I am trying to get into this VitaMix website http://vitamix.com.au/ . Can someone try it for me and see if you are having troubles?

It might be our organisations permissions... but i don't think so as i have no problems with MMC!!!!

I am not usually a fan of New Years Day but I must say this is one has been a nice one!

Snow-in-Texas first went to my job. We are closed today but we went in to feed the animals. From there we went to the lake to ride our bikes and feed the ducks. The weather has been very mild today but will get chilly tomorrow. Our tradition on New Years Day is to take down our outdoor Christmas lights and my son helps. We always go out to lunch together afterward. To our surprise, as we pulled up in the driveway, my son was taking down the last strand of lights off the house! He didn't even wait on us, he did it by himself. I was thrilled because it slightly depresses me to do it so he saved me from that! We unloaded the bikes, cleaned up and went out to lunch. Then headed over to Starbucks for coffee. We are just relaxing now.

The indoor decorations will stay up awhile longer. I will take it down when I am ready. Maybe just keep them up until Christmas in July! Does that sound like a plan? What do you think? cheesy

Then in July you could just decide to keep them up until Christmas, it is only 5 months from that point. cheesy

sounds chilly, are you ready for it? Keep safe and stay home if you can.

I hope we are ready. My wife hates the cold, I love the cold (I work in a refrigerator and freezer) so somewhere in between we will be complaining about the cold.
