I'm in!

Merry Morning!!! Anyone ever told you guys you all talk too much! LOL I am trying my best to catch up but it is HARD with Isaac.

How was the weekend? Ours was good, quiet. We watched the movie 'New Years Eve' for the first time on Saturday night. I thought it was quite appropriate for the transition out of the season.

Mr Festive is back to work today and Jacob is back to school. I know we are already on the 6th but it feels like my official start to the year now. The tree came down on Friday and I am in the middle of taking down everything else this morning.

It is such a bittersweet feeling. Obviously I feel sad that the season has past but every now and then I get a little surge of excitement thinking about Christmas 2014. The Christmas spirit reminding me of things to come.

I got a few decorations in the sale last week including some festive candy cane coloured tinsel!

Well I hope everyone has a good day at work or home. Hopefully I can find some time to pop back later!

Hi HMG, I've never seen candy striped tinsel before. That's the first thing I will look up this morning .... after I catch up on 18 pages of MMC good cheer.

They've lived there for nearly 8 years and this has always been the case. Their house hasn't had heat or air since the 1st year. We bought them window units a few years ago for AC, but we all know AC is really more of a luxury. Heat on the other hand, that's a different matter. Last year we bought them a room unit heater, but this year a few of their other ones went out.

Her DH is a pastor at a local church, but it's a small church so not a full time salary. The church members gave him a cash Christmas gift with which they went immediately to the store and bought space heaters. She is keeping as many doors closed as possible to contain the heat and her DH put in all new weather stripping and seals.

She's looked into the matter legally, but their area laws are different regarding landlords. I said the same thing, "He can't do that!!" My response is based on my areas laws. Unfortunately - she doesn't have much recourse. The pastor of the church where she works as a secretary has told her the same thing - not much she can do. He was a DA in Tulsa and his wife is currently a DA in Ft. Smith, AK, so I guess they would know for sure. Heavener is right on the border of OK and AK.

She's also leary of making trouble for the landlord as their options for relocating are limited at this time. They're trying to hold out for another two years where they are till her DH is eligible for his maximum draw on retirement from his pension.

I truly appreciate everyone's kind thoughts, prayers and suggestions! :-)

I will keep praying for them, graywolf!

You're just doing what's best for them. I feel bad, too. But I've been playing a lot with her in the house, throwing her balls & toys up & down the hall. Glad M & M love looking outside, too. I'm sure it does them a world of good

I do the same thing and it doesn't take long to wear my two out, lol. Plus the cats keep them on their toes!

LOL!!!!! My sleeping bad was rated to -20 and we had had the big heavy canvas army tents that we took. We put hay on the ground under the taro floor and then more hay on top of the floor. So inside the tent, it was nice and warm. We all had snow suits and dressed in several layers. Plus we had a really big fire going all weekend!!!!

It was a really fun weekend!!

I still wouldn't have let you go cheesy

Good morning! I awoke here this morning at 4:45am to a temperature of 40 degrees and since I've been here at work, it's already down to 34 degrees and dropping. It looks like that cold blast is starting to make it's way or should I say, push it's way here...

I just don't know what it is about being where I moved to, but I had another ice event yesterday/ last night. I left the house in the van with my wife and daughter, when I got down our street to end, it's a hill. I started down the hill, slowly, and that was it, I completely lost control of the van. Lisa starts yapping at me about driving so close to the shoulder of the road, and I said it's not me but the momentum of the van. I was not driving it, it was driving us.....

We slid down and around a curve without hitting the guardrail or driving off the road; about 75 feet. I ended up at the bottom of the hill, in the other lane of traffic (with no other car in sight)... I had to pull over and recollect myself, and check my drawers just to make sure I didn't have an accident in them.....

There was this light mist falling at the time, it was foggy and the road was just cold enough where it started freezing up; black ice....it about scared the beagebees out of me~ I drove the rest of the way on pins and needles until I got back home.

Between that and the Packers losing, esh, what a crappy night! At least there was one good thing, by the grace of god, I didn't hit anything or anyone. I never want to go thru that again~

My goodness you were so lucky! I think of you all every day trying to go about your daily lives and having to contend with such treacherous conditions... if thoughts can keep you all safe I will meditate all the time!

Hey! Sorry it took me so long to reply but I didn't see ya there for a second lol. I am almost halfway through my MBA program with Liberty University online. I'll be taking Statistics for two months starting next Monday. Not easy but I am so hoping it's worth it in the end!:yahoo:

That is awesome, Sprinkleshouse! I'm sure getting your MBA will be well worth it in the end. Good luck with the Statistics class!

wind chill tonight will bring temperatures down to -38c (-36f)...will not be turning down the furnace tonight!

Stay warm, Christmasstar! I will be praying for you and your family!

Good Morning, First Monday Friends!

Yes, indeedy.
It is the first Monday of the new year and the begining of our first full week.

And we are greeted by the following interesting facts:
Days to the Season: 311
Days to Christmas Day: 353

And as the count numbers reveal, we will find ourselves down to SINGLE DIGITS to 2014 Milestone #1 the day after tomorrow, that marker being the 300-day Season Window.
<< How can we be so far along, Crown? >>
Well, little voice, I can only say it's the magic and the beauty of the Season count!

Well, nice and warm here where we stand just over 58 degrees at this hour.
A light rain is falling but that's the least of our worries.
The weather service says we will botton out tonight at about 10 degrees, an all-time record low for the date.
(I'm definitely NOT looking forward to that!)

But regardless of your weather, you try hard to have a Marvelous Monday, OK?

Thanks Crown
