Happy Epiphany everyone! For our family this marks the last day of Christmastide. Most of our decorations came down yesterday but a few are still out including our nativity scenes. This morning my girls moved the three kings right next to the manger for Epiphany. Tonight is our Epiphany feast. For those interested here is our tradition:

although this year our feast is carb free thanks to my wife's New Year's Resolution :-(

Good evening everyone!

Today was suppose to be the first day back to school for everyone in the area, but the weather certainly put a damper on that. No calls for me. Buses were cancelled in all districts throughout the area. The temperature went from about +3c (37f) to -12c (14f) in about two hours. It was quite crazy. Freezing rain turned to ice and snow fast. Times like these nobody should be on the road.

As for tomorrow, the forecast doesn't call for freezing rain or anything of that nature, but the deep freeze will return for a few more days. -27c with windchill. Brrrrr!

I've been fairly busy for the past few days. My apologies for not visiting. I had an indoor 4 on 4 tournament on Saturday and Sunday. We didn't play as well as we should have, but we had a great time. I'm still quite sore! No rest for me today, though. I have hockey tonight, too.

Today and yesterday was a little rough. Watching the Packers lose night really hurt. I didn't expect that to happen. It was a game they could have won. Well, there's always next season. I'm still proud of the obstacles the team had to overcome to make the playoffs. Can only hope to stay healthy next year and field the best team possible. Good luck to everyone else that still has teams in the playoffs!

Well, I should be going. It's pretty much time to eat. Have a great Monday evening!

Merry Morning!!! Anyone ever told you guys you all talk too much! LOL I am trying my best to catch up but it is HARD with Isaac.

How was the weekend? Ours was good, quiet. We watched the movie 'New Years Eve' for the first time on Saturday night. I thought it was quite appropriate for the transition out of the season.

Mr Festive is back to work today and Jacob is back to school. I know we are already on the 6th but it feels like my official start to the year now. The tree came down on Friday and I am in the middle of taking down everything else this morning.

It is such a bittersweet feeling. Obviously I feel sad that the season has past but every now and then I get a little surge of excitement thinking about Christmas 2014. The Christmas spirit reminding me of things to come.

I got a few decorations in the sale last week including some festive candy cane coloured tinsel!

Well I hope everyone has a good day at work or home. Hopefully I can find some time to pop back later!

Hope Mr.'s and Issac's first day went well!

Hi Sam, it's good to see you!
I'm getting back in to my regular routine today too. It was so nice to not wake up so early for two weeks!
I hope all is well and that you have a wonderful day!

Hope your daughter's first day back went well and it wasn't too hard for you to wake up today!

Good morning, Sam!!

It is bittersweet taking down the decorations- sad, but also trying to make it fun by rearranging my winter decor. Kind of feels like new!

I love "New Years Eve"!! One of my favorites. Hope you guys enjoyed it!

Hope you have a wonderful day!!

I have never heard of this movie, but since you both recommend it, I will have to keep an eye out for it. It sounds good!

apparently just cold was not enough, now we have this...

Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
3:19 PM EST Monday 06 January 2014
Blizzard warning for
Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County continued

Dangerous blizzard conditions tonight and Tuesday.

Strengthening westerly winds are quickly blasting in bitterly cold Arctic air tonight. Frequent strong snow squalls are intensifying over Huron and Georgian Bay and inland. Many of the snow squalls will extend quite far inland as the winds become quite strong and gusty. Local snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are quite possible in snow squalls by Tuesday morning.

A combination of the dangerous snow squalls with extreme wind chills of minus 35 to minus 40 will produce frequent blizzard conditions this afternoon and tonight. Frequent to widespread very low to nil visibilities with near whiteout conditions are expected especially in exposed areas.

The combination of a fresh heavy snowfall from last night's storm with intense snow squalls tonight and bitter wind chills poses a life-threatening risk for anyone outside for any duration, or stranded in vehicles if roads become snow-blocked. Travellers need to ensure they have an adequate car emergency kit and ample fuel if travelling any distance.

The blizzard conditions will slowly ease somewhat on Tuesday although the snow squalls and blowing snow are likely to continue in many areas.

Oh no, be careful!
