I do too and have never had one complaint, both DH and my steaks both came out undercooked tonight, which is something that can be fixed, thank goodness, but then we had to eat our other side without our steak, which I hate doing. Hopefully next time we go back, it's better, since it's not cheap there!

I eat blue steak... so if they get it wrong I get another steak Can you believe some places precook their steak and just warm it? That's an offence to Aussies!!!

Wow...in honor of Elvis' birthday, Carl has Viva Las Vegas playing on the big screen, with other Elvis movies in waiting.

Plus, the king's music is playing in the background through out the Pines.

But, Carl wearing that Elvis wig and jumpsuit is a little much...

He also has some special Christmas cookies left over!

I know you told me the other day, the kids didn't have to make a few of the days up. What about yesterday and today? If not, they should just cancel. No sense in sending them for one day.

I'm curious to know how they make up all of those cancelled days. Our schools were closed for a whole week after Hurricane Sandy and most districts ended up taking the winter break away from the kids. They were so disappointed!

The state actually granted them exemptions for monday and tuesday because of the widespread nature of the event. They will have to make up today and tomorrow though. Most schools have some extra days built into the schedule over what the state requires but if they still need more days, they will just add them on at the end of the year usually. Some add them on at Spring break if they have 2 weeks off then.

Carl has the fire going and it's nice and warm. But he's unveiling a new beverage he calls "Polar Vortex." I'm afraid!

Good Afternoon everyone!! Haven't even had a chance to catch up yet today. Spent all morning de-Christmasifying the house. GACK!!

Our weather is insane too. Last night at midnight I posted all the socks and blankets and chill in our bedroom - now 12 hours later, the AC is on. Nope, not kidding - Exhibit A:

I have taken down most everything with the exception of the little crystal decorations and such which reside in the curio cabinet and hutches during the rest of the year. Everything which goes in boxes elsewhere is down and put up. Now I'm moving on to steam cleaning.

This afternoon we have to go look at a new car. Not thrilled with the idea of car payments again, but it's necessary for Bud. Currently paying through the roof for a car rental while he tours. Hopefully this will be better.

Hope you're all doing incredibly well and yes I'm totally aware that most of you would gladly rather be running the AC than sliding on black ice or dealing with record lows. Didn't mean to complain about it... just love cooler weather.

I am done in! After working around the house all morning and then putting in five hours at work I am ready for a long winters nap.

Good afternoon all. This is my first post on the new countdown. The countdown will probably not be as fun for me this year. Our son graduates high school in June and will go off to college in August so I will be wishing time passes slowly.

Our family had a good Christmas but it was not the same without mom. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts during this time.

I have enjoyed the cold weather the last few days. Wish we would have gotten more snow but I will take our 5 inches. It was -6 when I left for work yesterday and 8 today. Sorry to say it will be in the low 50s by this weekend. Hopefully we have some more snow and cold weather before this winter is over.

Thanks! No food allergies that we are aware of. The girls were tested for multiple allergies after I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. She was feeling better after she woke up and went in to work for a few hours this evening.

Just a quick word here but I had asked for prayer and/or good vibes sent my way for my health. I am happy to say I am in good shape! It was a cyst that we were concerned about and it is benign!

I never want to be an alarmist or pessimistic and was going to wait for prayers IF I got bad news but figured that is a little too late to be asking for prayers. I needed them ahead of time in hopes it all turned out good! It is all good so thank you for prayers and good thoughts sent my way!

I just saw on the AccuWeather website that the Northern Lights are supposed to be visible in parts of North America tonight ... possibly as far south as where I am! Click on the thumbnail for a map.

(How do you get the thumbnail image to show full size in your post? I think I've seen that done ...)

Me too! LOL...they cooked the same steaks, so no, not at all. They didn't do anything. I was pretty dissatisfied. I waitressed all through high school and then my first two years of college, so I feel bad for the waiters, because if the kitchen is bad, it reflects on the wait staff, but that's the way it is, like it or not. Like you said, hopefully next time we go back, it will be better. It had become my favorite chain restaurant here. Keeping my fingers crossed it was just one bad time!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED Elvis!!!!!!! I just swoon when I hear his voice. We have some great impersonators at the Parkes Elvis Festival and the ones who can sing like him... all I can say is their wives better get out of my way!!! I prefer Elvis' black leather though. Have you got one of those Ryan??

I would love to go to an Elvis festival! I guess he is still popular worldwide!
