Hi all, just waiting for the sun to come up a little more so I can go out into the garden. Don't want any slithering surprises! I need to gather some foliage for printing activities I am touring around for kids these holidays. Stay safe and happy everyone. Cheers Virginia

I here that they taste just like chicken.....

Ha-ha! I used to catch the small ones that I would find and throw them in the chicken yard.... he-he-he, watching those chickens go after the snake is enough to make a person pee themselves laughing sooooo hard!

Now imagine the act of slurping down a long spaghetti noodle, now you get the picture....

For those that know me well will probably faint when you hear what I am about to say.... Starting Saturday and for the rest of next week will be in the upper 60's to 70's and I am looking forward to it! That's a shocker, isn't it? I always want freezing weather! I think it's because we have actually had some really cold days that stuck around for a long time with some icy weather. I am not ready for winter to come to an end yet but just looking forward to a few warm days then I want it to get icy cold again!

We plan to take our bikes out to the lake as soon as it gets warm. We are also going to become members of the Dallas Arboretum which is located on the lake and will be nice to walk around there while it's warm. We visit there often since we live very close by to stroll the garden or see concerts. We were just there during the Christmas holidays but decided to join since they built a children's garden. I was way more impressed with it than I thought I would be. We ventured through there for over 2 hours and still didn't see everything and that was just the children's section! I am looking forward to going back with the kids!

This is from the internet but we have seen it a few times and it is amazing. Every fall they have this really nice pumpkin village. They fix the place up for Christmas as well. The membership is good for a year so we will have unlimited access to see everything they have each season.

Do you have a veggie garden or flower garden? I am hoping to get a veggie garden going this spring. Right now in our area it's time to start planting onions. I will have to wait awhile before plating anything else.

I'm on my 4th cup of coffee today! Can't you tell..... 8-)

Do you mean snakes, or slugs? I'd hate to meet either ...

Oh yea, I saw one of them things once on TV. It was an episode with the Crocodile Hunter (Steve Irwin - "miss him") trying to handle one of them in the wild. It nearly handled him.....

Good morning all. Temp was a cool 18 when I left for work this morning. Sadly temps will be in the 50s this weekend. At least this will give the folks around here a chance to thaw/repair their water lines. Many folks in our area use spring water and their lines froze in the sub-zero temps. We have a well and were fortunate to avoid the frozen water lines. Hopefully winter weather will return soon.

Our son's girlfriend heads back to college Monday. He will be heartsick for a while but we have to get busy applying for college scholarships for him. January 30 will be a big day for us as he starts the interview process for a full scholarship at Gardner Webb University.

Have a blessed day everyone.

Best wishes for your son's interview!

I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday when everyone was celebrating Elvis's birthday. Gloria Jean told us a personal story about Elvis Presley. She was working on a film at Paramount in 1961 at the same time Elvis was working on "Blue Hawaii." Gloria was having lunch with some other girls who were in the movie she was in, and Elvis came to their table and talked to Gloria. He said he wanted to do a film with her, because he thought their voices together would be dynamite. Meanwhile, the other girls at the table were just about going through the floor because Elvis was talking to Gloria! Gloria immediately told her agent about the conversation, but the agent never followed up on it---he should have had photos taken or talked up a film project with Elvis's people, but he just let it drop.

Michael Jackson was a fan of Gloria's, too. He once sent her a fan letter, hand-delivered by a courier, asking for an autographed photo.

I wonder why the agent didn't follow up?! So exciting though!

Hope you have a great day HMG!

Hey everybody!!!! School has started for Kandice again (she thinks that sucks....hahahaha) and all is going their regular ways.......only my cat thought she has to get sick.....she was trying to pee everywhere....You could tell she couldn´t really do it.......it turns out to be a bladderinfection....so now we drove to the vet who gave her some antibiotics that last for three weeks plus a pain killer so she can pee again.....cost me 30Euros.....I would have paid 100 if it made her feel better!!!!!

I hope the antibiotics help!

Thanks, HmG!!

Still bitterly cold overnight. But,
It may get up to 10 degrees! I may fall over if it does =]

Hope you have a wonderful day, too!!

Oh that's still too cold! Keep warm!

Glad to hear you're warming up there as well! I bet Molly and Maggie were happy to be back out. Hope you're daughter loves her new job. Aldi - is that the grocery store? I googled it. They just opened one here in the last year/two here. I never been in the one here.

Thanks sugar! The dogs were super excited to go for a walk, they slept very well afterwards!
Yes Aldi is the grocery store. I have never been in one either, they also just started opening up here too. I'll have to pop in one day and check it out.

Seriously, folks, you cannot just make up this stuff... here's a clip from a news article from Lac Du Flambeau, Wisconsin:

"This really shouldn't be a shock to anyone, but for the record, let's just say it's usually a pretty bad idea to set a charcoal fire under your car. A Wisconsin woman did just that, and set her 2007 Dodge Caravan on fire. Even better, she lives in an area named after a burning torch!

The Lac du Flambeau woman was trying to start her minivan in some really awful temperatures, around -23°F, and after removing her battery and warming it indoors (smart), she decided to warm the engine block with a charcoal fire (not smart).

The inevitable fire started with the underside of the bumper, and quickly spread to all the deliciously flammable bits of rubber under the hood and around the engine bay...."

This is, what we call, a "Carbecue"....!

Snowflake, was this you????

People are crazy!
