Xmastidings, Does it have a lot of sentimental value?

That's a tough one...And a lot of money.

Wishing you luck on making the right choice, friend!

I am being kind of sneaky, and I am going to Down To Earth- a gardening/greenhouse/ gift store here in town that my mom loves! I will by her a small present and also a gift certificate there so she'll come use it & visit soon :)

That sounds like a lovely gift!

How r You guys? All okay over here...I have searched for the christmas movie "The Homecoming".....the Walton´s pilot............yesterday I finally searched for it on youtube......and found it and was able to watch it.......I loved it.....just weird to have a different John, Olivia and Grandpa......but other than that....I loved, loved, loved it

The book on which it was based (by Earl Hamner, Jr.) is very good, too. I had it long ago, but lost it somehow. I see it's available on Kindle, so I just may buy that!

Uggghhh, I just gave the ok for my mechanic to fix my car after it broke down on me on my way home Wednesday night. i had to get it towed to the garage yesterday; going to cost me 2,200.00 dollars to make the repairs...:-? That hurts, right in the ole wallet. This makes for the second time in three weeks that I have it in the garage, the last time it cost me 1,300... I have to start asking myself, does the means justify the ends here with dealing with a free 1994 Ford Taurus....

I mean, I got the car for free from my wife's family (it was her grandfathers), and presently, I have no car payments, (Oh man, I hate to have a car payments). So, I figure that if I do not put another dime into it for a whole year, at a 300.00 estimated dollars a month (a general car payment), I should break even in a year..... with keeping my fingers crossed~

What do you think, am I goofy for doing that or do you think I should just bag it and break down and buy something more dependable? What would you do?

Ouch...sorry to hear about that Xmastidings. We had been putting a lot of money into our latest vehicle too. It was only a 2009 and it was shutting off on me in intersections, so that was really big deal. We had it paid off, so we broke down and bought a new one this past October, but I guess it just depends on the situation - since we have little kids, etc., it was important for us to reliable vehicle.

It''s Friday!!!!

Oh yesssss! I am sooooo very much ready for the weekend~

Me too. I know this will sound silly coming from a proofreader (especially with the hours that you and Ryan were pulling recently), but I worked so hard yesterday that at the end of the day, my writing arm hurt and I ached all over. (Lots of brainwork, and lots of errors, so I had to mark a ton of things and write notes.) Today may be heavy, too. I just want the workweek to end.

Hey everyone! I hope you all are doing well. I haven't had a chance to catch up so I hope I haven't missed any big news!

Have a wonderful day my Christmas Friends!

I will try to check back later!

Good Morning, MMC!!!! It's an overcast morning here in Chicago but hey, I survived the crazy bus driver. So I'm not complaining. Now let's see how this driver does over the next 8 hours. I'll be in and out while I'm here on the bus since it has free WiFi. I was stupid though and didn't get a seat next to an outlet. I went for more leg room instead. So I don't want to wear my batteries out to early. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!

At least you're not on a Fung Wah bus!

I can always find a way to justify trading. I'm a sucker for a new truck, so you might want to disregard my advise. :)

As you say, depending on what you buy, you might be able to spend the same $300 each month on a lease or loan.

We were in a similar situation recently with a 2000 Corolla. The tipping point for me was when the estimate for repairs exceeded the Blue Book value of the car. It seemed silly to me to pay for repairs that were worth more than the car. Instead of putting that money into further repairs, we put it into a down payment on a new car. But, as you say, now we have the payments for a few years. One mitigating situation is that, since we keep a car for a long time, we also bought a maintenance plan that will cover the scheduled maintenance for a few years.

Will summer ever come to New England? It's May 2, and we've barely broken 70F at any point all "spring." Let's have sunshine and 75F, please, before June arrives!

TGIF, my Christmas friends!

Our meeting at church started out very confrontational, to the point that a couple of the men (one of them being the district superinendant) stood up quickly and got loud, but it eventually calmed down. The new DS is very full of himself, mentioning several times that he used to be a "manager of industry" and an engineer, and that his experience and position gave him the authority to move pastors as he saw fit. I heard that about three time, then I told him that I am currently a manager in an industrial business, and the mayor of a city. I told him that my experience has taught me that, although you may have the authority to make decisions for people, it's always best to include them in the decision so they can feel some ownership and consideration.

Anyway, after 3 hours of talking and arguing, he finally told us that our pastor had also agreed that he need to make the move. It will benefit his new family financially, and who can argue with that? I told the DS that could have opened with that information, and it might have saved us a couple hours of disagreements, geez. There were a few folks in our congregation that complained to the DS about the pastor (with some of the stupidest complaints EVER), starting this whole mess, and I plan to let them know what I think about that. In any event, our pastor is moving and we are getting a new pastor who, by all accounts, is a very good man. I hope it all works out.

And I hope y'all have a great day! cheesy

Brad, I prayed for your church meeting last night. How did it go?
The meeting that started in anger ended in holding hands in a big circle in prayer and hugs, so I guess it was a success!
