Christmas Countdown - 2014

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I spent the day at doctors's appointments in the morning and early afternoon. I had one shot right in the bed of my fingernail and FIVE shots in my upper back shoulder blade. Today is the first day of feeling even halfway human after all those shots! After all that, there is not all that much relief! Go figure! But my birthday dinner was wonderful! Work is progressing on the house. For my son's "wages," we were going to pay his monthly rent, but we decided to give him our trailer instead. He was deliriously happy since he can now divide his time between his two seasonal jobs and not have to worry about a place to live. We also have bought his groceries and will supply him with groceries just before he leaves. TTYL

So good to see you! Glad to hear you're feeling after your appointments. So nice of you to help your son out. I'm so glad to hear the house is coming along nicely! Keep in touch, friend! Miss you!

Work was very busy today, I am exhausted. It was also Game 4 for the Bruins, and they pulled it out 1-0 in overtime. Pheeewww!

We went and saw the World Series Trophy, very cool, unfortunately they just herded us in, take a few pictures and ship us out. I really wanted to look at it more closely but oh well.
Here is a picture of us with the trophy, I think the flash and the fluorescent lighting made it blurry. I am so disappointed it didn't come out clearer. (LC is hiding behind us, because he didn't want his picture taken)

Hey Festive! I am doing so well, thank you for asking! How are you doing? Thursday night was really busy, but that's okay. It's the weekend now and I am glad to be off. Tomorrow is Mother's Day here and I will be celebrating it with my family! Hope all is well with you!

TGIF, my Christmas friends!

We went last night to Elizabeth's dress rehearsal for her ballet recital (Spring Showcase, as they call it), then out to find Mother's Day gifts for my mom and Nancy's mom. I still have to sneak away with Jacob & Elizabeth to get Nancy something.

Elizabeth's recital is tonight, and I'm sure we'll go out for Japanese (her go-to splurge meal) afterwards.

If it doesn't rain this weekend, I plan to cut the grass tomorrow.

Good Morning!

I am behind on here. It's been a little stressful for me this week but didn't want to drag you all down. It's all good now so I will share!!!

My dad has been sick since Sunday and had me worried like crazy! First of all he has a mild form of leukemia for 10 years now. It's been in remission but his bloodwork remains permanently off the charts and will never be normal. He is stable but if he gets ill with anything including a simple cold can be serious for him. That is all he has had this week is a cold but has knocked him way down. I would get so upset when I call to check on him and he could barely talk. He is such a cheerful man all the time and this week hasn't sounded that way. He even comes over everyday to use our computer but hasn't came by this week from being so sick. I called him a little bit ago and he sounded great and feeling better. He plans to come
over today! I love my dad so much! I hate to see him sick, just like with anyone on here feels about their parents.

It did put a smile on my face when I called one day and my mom said he is watching The Three Stooges! He loves laughter and laughter is the best medicine!

Please pray that he continues getting stronger everyday!

She is hanging in, thanks. Doing better, still having pain but that's to be expected for a bit. She has her knee brace off, and is walking without a cane. Slowly, but surely!

Thanks for that, too. He had his first spinal surgery yesterday, with another to come soon. Hopefully, he can regain sensation in his arms & hands. He still has a long way to go.

Will keep him in prayers! It's amazing the advancements they have come along with and still do. DH's aunt was paralyzed from the waist down, when EA was a baby or right before she was born (she will be 5 this September), they didn't think she would ever walk again, but she is able to get out of her, and do some steps along things. She has come a long way. Power of prayer, therapy, and amazing doctors have really helped and I have faith for you're him too!!!

Hey there! Just checking in. Been really pre-occupied with the house renovations and also in my spare time work.... Well, things (of course), did not go as well as expected. The walls were opened up and behold.... carpenter ants, wood rot and mold! Nice!!!! The ants had eaten thru the 2x6 studs, sub-flooring, plywood, king studs, jack studs, headers, etc... it was a mess. So, I called exterminators, they sprayed for hours...

Then my GC called for some more help from his contacts, I had 3 carpenters and 4 masons, 2 alarm guys, all working at the house this week. I'm going to get clobbered with a big change order... However, they have been moving along really fast, the exterior of the house has been put back together and the new windows installed and vinyl siding went up yesterday. I did all the electrical work myself. The masons have finished up their work and have left. They are putting in exterior doors today and next week, they should have the drywall work all done on the inside and the stone work on the exterior should be wrapped up as well.

I'm not sad, a little bummed; yes, but not sad. I sort of look at this way, it's better to find out things now, get them fixed and move on and not dwell on things...tomorrows another day! And then after everything is fixed, I should not ever have to worry about those things ever again~ I'm trying to look at things in life as an optimist instead of having a pessimistic point of view of things!!!!

No work scheduled on the house this weekend other that what I, myself may get into from the honey-do list! Well, better get back to work: talk to you in a bit!

Good to see you! Sorry to hear about the extra repairs, but glad to hear they are working on quickly and that you are able to do some of it yourself. That does save you money. You are looking at all of this in a great way too! Hope you're doing well!

Happy Friday Night! Trying to debate if I want to go in there and work or lay down and go to sleep.....know what I need to do, but I also think I'm going to need to take our dog to the vet in the morning. She has a really bad sore that I'm worried about.

Other than that, I'm going to a baseball game tomorrow (if it doesn't rain) and then I might just do my work then. I think that sounds like the better idea.

After I left work today everything went nuts. I was nearly home when my supervisor called. I have to work from home tomorrow for a deadline that the client didn't tell us about until nearly 5:30 today. A lot of people are out of town with plans for Mother's Day, so there was a mad scramble to find people who could get the job done. Then when I got home our printer died---and I can't work from home without it, plus Mr. has a deadline this weekend as well! So I had to run out to Staples half an hour before they closed to buy a new printer plus spare ink cartridges, then bring it home and get it connected and set up, and figure out how to use it. Didn't get any dinner until nearly 11pm. Holy cow. The deadline tomorrow is very tight, so I hope nothing else happens! I think I'm getting tummy trouble from eating so late, though. Ugh.

But I'm counting my blessings, because it would have been MUCH worse if the printer died while I was on the job tomorrow! There wouldn't have been time to get a new one, set it up, and figure out how to works, and I'd be finding out the hard way why they call it a DEADline!

Sorry to hear about all your troubles, MerryCarey, but hoping that all works out today for you. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Good luck.

Good morning MMC!
We are expecting rain again today but it looks like it will finally be coming to an end by this evening. The weather is supposed to be beautiful for Mother's Day tomorrow.
I'm going to be in and out today, I have a few errands to run. I'll be leaving soon to go food shopping. Then my youngest has a hair appointment later this morning. I also need to run up to the mall this afternoon to exchange something. And whatever else happens to come up!
I will pop back in later.
