Thanks for all the info on Facebook, I still have not decided and will probably won't for a few days. I see the drama it causes at work and all I can think is we are all adults and we act like middle schoolers because so & so unfriended or won't accept you as a friend.

Late day at work tomorrow, but I only have 3 shifts until my vacation. I love the fact I am going to have another week off, but I hate how close it is to my last one, only 3 weeks. I usually try to space them out 3-4 months at a time, but I would rather use it than lose it.

Hello everyone!

Sorry for not popping in yesterday. My trip home was long and very tiring so I was sleeping pretty much all day yesterday. Anyway, I am back on track today although time difference of two hours still feels weird. (Yeah, two hours are not many in general but I still need usually a day to adapt myself.)



I hope everyone is doing well. My plans of going to business seminar this weekend got cancelled so I now trying to fill the gap in with some activities. ^^

Flood warnings were out and there was some street flooding we had to drive through. But at last, we should have a dry day today!
We have begun mid-week at 69 degrees here in central NC.

I have been thinking of joining Facebook the last few days, after seeing a lot of my cousins at the family reunion and what has been going on with my grandmother I think it may be time to "jump" in to the FB circus. I know all my cousins are on there, and that is the preferred way they all seem to communicate. We always seem to be the odd ones out on the news in the family. I have also heard it also helps when looking for a new job, which really couldn't hurt.

I am thinking aloud, because I really know nothing about facebook, and my Google+ account is as dormant as the day I signed up for it.

Should I go for it?

I have a FB account, but I seldom check it. I sometimes get an email from someone who tells me they posted a picture on FB for me, so I have to go try to find it. Why don't they just email the picture to me?!?

Good Wednesday morning, my Christmas friends!

It's been a typical week so far...busy, busy, busy. Nancy & Jacob were at Jacob's band practice late, so Elizabeth and I went out to Subway for a turkey sub for supper. Pretty good!

Today, I have to get on the lawn mower (since it's not Sunday, CAH!).

first sign of Christmas reminds me,
the other day at work I had a man go through my till that if he was in a red suit would have looked exactly like every picture I have seen of Santa Claus! I asked if he ever played the part, and sadly he said no. But the cool thing is that his name is "Claus"! His grandchildren call him Santa.

That is so cool!!!

FIRST SIGN OF CHRISTMAS FOR ME!!!! Just got a fall fest flyer in the mail with a note at the bottom about the church's live nativity date!!!!! Wooooo!!

I have yet to go to a live nativity! I need to make that a plan this year.

We went and visited my grandparents this morning, they are doing okay. My grandmother has decided to forego the chemo treatments, it just made her feel awful. She gave me a number of her Santas, (I gave her a Santa for Christmas every year from the mid-90's until 2008) they are all so beautiful. I just don't know where I will put them. It was nice to visit my grandparents, but for the first time in my life my grandmother looked weak, it was a real shock to see her like that.

Just resting now, taking a little time to wind down, and then pizza!!! Woohoo!

I am feeling a lot better today, just a nagging headache.

I will be back throughout the evening. ttyl

Awe, I know that must be hard to see your grandma like that. I hope you find comfort with having the Santas she gave you. ((Hugs)) to you!

I'm not on Facebook myself; most of my relatives are older and not computer-literate, so it's not a viable means of staying in touch.

From what I hear and read, Facebook seems to be some people's reality instead of a tool for communication; what happens there seems to them to be more important than what happens in real life. It's great what it can do for extended families whose members are scattered, or for those who grew up digital and can't imagine a world without Facebook, but so far it's not for me.

Mr. isn't on Facebook, either, and a strange thing happened. Someone looking for him on Facebook found that there are several people with the same name, and asked a friend of ours who IS on Facebook which one was Mr. Our friend told him that Mr. isn't on Facebook. The guy got furious with our friend: "What do you MEAN he isn't on Facebook? Why not? I DEMAND to know why he isn't on Facebook!" and went on and on attacking our FRIEND because Mr. isn't on Facebook! I hope most people on Facebook aren't that batty. But it's one more reason I shy away from it. It's probably harmless and even fun, but I've chosen to leave that particular Pandora's box closed. It's tempting at times, and I've been as close as one click away from joining, but it's too scary for me.

The biggest temptation would be to be in closer touch with all of you. But I could do that here and through email ...

I am not a facebook junkie at all but it's handy. I do check it every single day a few times a day just to check for notifications of people who message me or tag me in pictures, etc. I really don't scroll through the timeline that much so I miss a lot of post. I catch whatever is at the top of my page and the notifications I put in my settings for certain pages.

The one thing that Facebook has been a tremendous help is a lot of business pages and pages from Paul McCartney and other Beatles tribute bands have been helpful for me. I get notifications about concerts and businesses running special that I hear about through facebook first before any other sources. If it wasn't for facebook I would have not known about our local radio station that held the contest that Wayne won our Paul McCartney tickets from. Ticket pre-sale info I find out on Facebook before any other source as well. I find out about a lot of specials running at businesses and local events being held in my town. I know I would have missed a lot of events if it wasn't for facebook. Any of your favorite websites that have facebook and you can "like" their page to get updates on events etc. There are a lot of copy cat facebook pages of popular businesses and celebrities so I will go straight to the business website to click onto the facebook link through them. Celebrity ones will have a blue check by their name to show they are legit pages. Nothing wrong with other celebrity pages, some of those are just fan pages honoring their celebs but not the actual celebrity themselves.

Keeping up with family is great! That is the only way I can keep up with a lot of my family.

I follow a lot of news stations to get updates on things happening in my town but forget about stating your opinion unless you are up for an argument. Ha ha! The comments can get ridiculous but I sometimes laugh at the stuff that is said.

Check all your security settings before getting started! Keep everything set for friends because I think the default settings are public and the whole world can see your page. Some people do choose the option to keep it public and that's okay if you choose that but I keep mine all secured.

Well, with all that it seems I am a facebook junkie with everything I listed here! Ha ha! I guess what I mean is I don't really participate and post stuff too often but it is a way to keep up with family, friends and things happening around town.

I didn't mean to write a book here! :lol: I am just trying to give you an idea on how I use facebook.

Thanks Snowflake. I don't know what I'm going to do about the job. I'm interested, I would be working with three year olds on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and two year olds on Tuesday and Thursdays. I just love being with the little ones, they're so darn cute. It's nice because they follow the school district schedule, so I would be off for all of the holidays, Winter & Spring recess and of course summer break. The hours on Tuesday and Thursday will be 8:00 to 12:00 which is nice. But Monday, Wednesday and Friday would be 8:00 to 3:00. That's a little long for me. I'm worried about falling behind on my errands and chores, I get overwhelmed easily. And most importantly, I'm worried about the dogs. They're use to me being here all day. I could run home at lunch but it's only a half hour break so I'd only have a few minutes with them. It's frustrating because I do want to do something and of all the opportunities I've had so far, this is the most definitely the most appealing one. I'll keep you posted.
