Christmas Countdown - 2014

Good Sunday morning, my Christmas friends!

The parade yesterday was a blast! But it sure was hot. August is a tough time of year in south Georgia for a parade, but it coincides with the founding of the county, so what can you do?

We're running late for church (as usual), so I better run.

Snow-in-Texas and I went to the Cowboys game last night. They played the Ravens - Snow-in-Texas' team. My son-in-law got the tickets for us. I am a die hard Cowboys fan and Snow-in-Texas is a die hard Ravens fan so it was a blast going to a game with him. We did a lot of picking at each other through the game. Ravens won so in the end I was happy for him that he got to see his team win! I am glad it was just a pre-season game!

I am going to go back and try to catch up on a few post.

Good morning! Had a rough night sleeping last night, with so much on my mind, all I did was have these crazy dreams all night last night.

I'm starting my morning off right though, I'm having a big breakfast with a ham steak, 3 eggs sunny side up with shredded cheese on top, bagel and a cup of coffee to wash it all down with. I got an early start and I got a tub of laundry in the dryer, one in the washer, the refrigerator is all cleaned out, the rabbits are fed, and I'm getting ready to head outside in about 20 minutes to start cutting grass....

Looks to be a beautiful day around these parts here today, so I guess I'd better get my butt a moving, so as to take full advantage of it.....

Wow! You got a lot done already and I am barely functioning right now! Ha ha! I am just trying to manage to get some coffee in me. I do have a busy day ahead though!

I hope you get some sleep tonight - maybe a nap today!

It looks like we may get some rain today, I'm hoping it won't be too much. The pumps in my basement are still running like crazy since we had all of that rain last week. I have to go back to the doctor this morning for the TB reading and then they'll be able to finish filling out the paperwork for the preschool job. Not too much else planned for today. My daughter needs a few more storage containers to bring to college so we may do that and I need to get some boxes soon to start packing her stuff up. Ugh, it's getting so close. Her best friend is leaving in less than a week. They've been spending as much time together as they can. I let my daughter give notice at her job a little early, yesterday was her last day. I want her to enjoy every minute of these last two weeks. Anyway, I hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

I don't blame you one bit for wanting to get as much time as you can with your daughter before she leaves. I know it must be bitter sweet for her having to go.

I cannot wait to hear how your job goes once you get started. Teaching is very rewarding!

Good Morning, MMC!!!!!!! It's going to be hot, humid, and rainy here today. Yuck!!!! I don't have to much going on today. Just want to run a few errands this morning and then I'm going to kick back and watch the Nascar race. I'll probably be working on some projects on the computer at the same time too. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!

Xmastidings, you mentioned being in your 50's and enjoying Disney. My mom is in her 70's and loves Disney as well. Not as much the movies but the place itself. She has taken her grandkids (my kids) to Disneyland twice and Disney World twice. Now she is ready to take her great grandchildren (my grandchildren). She agrees and says, "It is the happiest place on earth"! It's a childhood memory for her since she grew up near Disneyland and was there for the grand opening and performed in a choir for the big event. (I know I have mentioned this before on here but not sure if you knew that).

I really hope we can gather those kinds of funds to take the grandkids there. It sure has gotten very expensive!

Straightening up the house this morning for a guest. We're meeting a friend for lunch, then we'll probably all come back here to gab and watch movies. (Reels-on-a-projector-type movies.) Mr. recently got two blooper reels as a gift, and I'd love to see them again!

Nothing beats the hand-drawn animation in the 1940s Disney films. Some of the textures, lighting, and effects in Pinocchio, or Fantasia, for instance---amazing work! I'm afraid the art of hand-drawn animation and backgrounds will be lost now that CGI is the standard. (CGI actually creeps me out a little … ) We were discussing it the other day, and the only mainstream hand-drawn animation we could think of is Simon's Cat.

I am not into the CGI animation at all. I am a huge fan of Looney Tunes cartoons - my absolute favorite. I had turned it on the other day for the grandchildren only to see it in CGI format. I did not like it one bit! I did find the nostalgic ones on Boomerang and was a happy camper!

To think about it another way, it's what we grew up on so we love the nostalgia of our childhood with hand-drawn cartoons. The kids of our day will look back on CGI as part of their childhood and find appreciation in that. For me, give me back the hand-drawn animation! =)
