Christmas Countdown - 2014

Mom wanted me to take her to the winery I took my cousin to. It is beautiful as is, but even more so in the Fall. So se did that yesterday afternoon, then browsed around at Fall & Christmas decorations at our favorite shops. Then we went out for dinner, to a favorite Italian restaurant. After we ate, we headed home to spend time with Harlowe, and went for a nice long walk. Then we watched a movie and had pumpkin cheesecake it was fun!

Good morning, everyone!

I have a busy day ahead. Despite it being almost November, I have a tryout for the new semi-pro Ultimate team that begins here in Ottawa next summer. The weather does not look like it will be too cooperative, but we shall see how it goes!

In other news, I have been enjoying time with my dad. He's been in great spirits and we've just been hanging out. Earlier this week, he asked me if I wanted to go to the Ottawa Redblacks (Canadian Football League) game. He could get free box seats, food, and drinks. The game was last night. Instead, I had tickets to see "I Am Santa Claus" star and wrestling legend Mick Foley at Yuk Yuk's in Ottawa. I asked him if he wanted to join Mike (Kim and I's old roommate) and I at the show. He said he'd come along.

The show was excellent. Mick was hilarious. Mike and I were laughing uncontrollably for much of the show. My dad, who did not know many of the stories, also shared a few laughs, too. Before and after the show, Mick had a meet and greet with his fans. He signed memorabilia, 8x10 photos, and took photos with his fans.

As soon it was my turn, he said he loved my "Buddy The Elf" shirt. I told him that I was also a Christmas fanatic, and I may post on a Christmas forum to which he is also a member. He asked which one... I told him MyMerryChristmas.com. He only smiled at me. Such a great and genuine guy. It was nice to discuss a passion - other than wrestling - for a quick moment with a guy I watched on TV for much of my younger years.

Anyway, I should probably get some stuff ready. Have a great Saturday, everyone! The weekend is here! Let's all enjoy it.

Good Morning, MMC!!! It's supposed to be a beautiful sunny day here with a high in the upper 60's. I'm enjoying it from the window in mom's hospital room. She is getting better but is really shaky today like normal. We are just waiting on physical therapy to come around and for her neurologist to come tell us he has no clue again. Then we will see if she gets to go home today or not. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!!!

What a great Saturday weather-wise in the New York metro! Today I'm going to my cousin's soccer game out in west-central New Jersey, then a marching band competition in the same area. It's too nice to spend the day inside, it's probably one of the last nice days of the year before it starts getting really cold.

Good Saturday morning, my Christmas friend!

There's a frost on the ground here in the mountains!

We're having a great time, and getting ready to have breakfast at Joey's Pancake House here in Maggie Valley. I love that place!

I found Elf on the DVR this morning, so that's what I'm watching right now. Halloween is next week, but I'm feeling pretty Christmassy!

What a great Saturday weather-wise in the New York metro! Today I'm going to my cousin's soccer game out in west-central New Jersey, then a marching band competition in the same area. It's too nice to spend the day inside, it's probably one of the last nice days of the year before it starts getting really cold.

I really hope we make it to New York City this December! It will just be a day trip and hope to travel by Amtrak there, walk around a bit and come back. The Rockefeller Center is the top priority of one of our stops!

I really hope we make it to New York City this December! It will just be a day trip and hope to travel by Amtrak there, walk around a bit and come back. The Rockefeller Center is the top priority of one of our stops!

I hope you get there too! Christmas is one of my favorite time to visit the city, and Rockefeller Center is the best. If you can and have the time, definitely swing by the Winter Village at Bryant Park, it's really cool and it's only a couple blocks from Rockefeller.

Thank you for that info!!! I will jot that down on my notes! If we make it there we will go by there for sure!

Since it will be a day trip and we will be on foot let me know if you know of other close places by the Rockefeller Center in walking distance that we must see. Restaurants too! Nothing pricey or fancy! I am sure we will be in jeans and sneakers since we will be doing a lot of walking. Don't want to eat somewhere with a strict dress code. cheesy

Hey, hey, hey! Finally back! Got home last night about 1:00 a.m. Little girl got up at 4:30! So when I say I'm back, I mean I'm back....but sleepy.



Bambina got up, stood up in her little bed, and started saying Dada, Dada over and over. What's a Daddy to do? We got up and I held her! She kept laughing and slapping me in the forehead! She finally went back to sleep about 6:00. It's all good, though. She just got up a few minutes ago, so we are going to play.



I don't know what has happened since last weekend, but I hope everyone is ok and everyone's family is great.

Now that they have released the names of the shooting victims from yesterday, I will tell you that one of the girls in the hospital in critical condition is my BIL' s niece. She was shot point blank in the forehead. Needless to say, things are pretty touch and go and don't look very promising no matter the outcome. Prayers would be appreciated.

It is a lot of work, and the physical pain that I get throughout the month of November is incredible. I have crushed my finger between two frozen birds, dropped them on my foot when the netting rips, and just the amount of lifting I do hurts my back, joints, legs. The turkey always tastes better to me on Thanksgiving. cheesy

Those lousy frozen turkeys! Revenge is sweet sometimes! Have second helpings and Thanksgiving Day, and big sandwiches of the leftovers! Chew 'em up good! cheesy
