Christmas Countdown - 2015

I awoke this morning quite energized. Now, it seems as if that energy has been drained. I am tired. I like Daylight Savings, but that hour made it a little difficult to sleep last night. I guess I shouldn't complain too much, at least I am working today.

Actually, it should be a pretty exciting week, overall. My dad is flying into town this afternoon. On Thursday, he, Kim and I are flying to Puerto Plata, Puerto Rico, for about a week. After my grandmother passed away last year, my dad said he wanted to take Kim and I as well as my brother and his wife (separately) to somewhere in the Caribbean. After this long winter, I think this vacation could not have come at a better time! The only real unfortunate part is that I will be missing two possible days of work... The next week is Spring/March break. As long as I get three days this week, I will be happy!

The weekend was a nice, quiet one. Really, it was perfect to get plenty of rest since the next little bit should be plenty of fun! Perhaps the best news of the weekend came after the Packers re-signed Randall Cobb. I was very worried that they would lose him. Seeing #18 play for the Dolphins, 49ers, Chiefs, Jaguars, or even Bears, would have been a little difficult at this early part in his career.

Well, I hope everyone is ready for their workweek! We're so close to our next milestone. I really hope I have the opportunity to join in on the celebration from the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico! Have a great Monday, everyone!

Grandmother update: She has been living with my parents for a week now. The stress from it may kill my parents before my grandmother passes on. The doctors still can't believe she got well enough to go home.

My uncle decided he wanted to take her back home around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. They brought her back around 5:00 p.m. on Saturday! They kept calling my parents during the day because my grandmother kept trying to walk around and wouldn't be still & they didn't know what to do with her.

I want to help, but I don't know what I can do. I work all day & have a family of my own to keep up with at night & on weekends. I really don't have a good bedside manner & would probably just get frustrated with her. I could go over and clean house & do laundry for them, but I'm not much of a cook. My aunts & cousins come to my parents house every night, as many as 10 people at a time sometimes. I think it might be better if I just stay away and out of the chaos.

I can't get excited for our Disney trip because Mom is supposed to go, but with my grandmother, we don't know if she can. The trip is paid for so somebody will be going. We will be disappointed if she can't, but we can't control whats happening right now.

Just keep us all in your thoughts and prayers. We've been through this before with my maternal grandmother, but there was money for round-the-clock caretakers to come in & care for her. We are not afforded that blessing with my paternal grandmother.

On a brighter note: DD stated emphatically yesterday that she was ready to wear shorts again & that she wanted winter to be over. She only wanted a little snow for Christmas! I'm just looking forward to three weekends from now to be able to camp for a couple of nights close to home to get away from everything!

Glad to hear your grandmother is out of the hospital. Sorry to hear of the stress it is causing your parents. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts.
