Ryan, I know what you mean! July is when I really start getting the Christmas spirit fired up. July is it for me, too!

I finally have figured it out, friends. When no one else is awake in the morning, I need to get up and enjoy the quiet.

Hey guys! Busy time for me. Still on paternity leave but busy with the kids. William passed Senior Kindergarten! Charlie is saying da-da, hi and hey. Still working on saying ma-ma though. I had my friend over last weekend and we had our Christmas movie marathon. We had a big bag of candy canes from my Mom that we munched on. Lit up my Christmas lights in the basement and we watched a handful of Christmas movies! It was a blast. We gabbed about Christmas till our ears bled. haha. We loved it. Well better get going! Going to make breakfast. Everyone have a great day and I will come back later and post some pictures of little Charlie!

I didn't recognize Colin Mochrie at first in the second picture, I love him on Whose Line.

We love him on that, too! We taped/recorded a ton of those when they were on the air.

Yes, it's truly "H" day today, not to mention the first 'Pines open house of the new month.
But more about Carl's special plans in a moment.

First, let's gaze upon the latest figures and what they represent:
Days to the Season: 135
Days to Christmas Day: 177

And what they tell us is that in less than 2 weeks now, we will be entering the FINAL THIRD of our Season count.
My! My!


A tad warmer yesterday with a light late-day rainstorm. Cooled things off just a bit.
Today? Well, perhaps an elevated chance of rain, but all in all, not bad.
This center-of-the-week morning has dawned at 71 degrees here in central North Carolina.


OK, Guys. First 'Pines open house of the new month and last open house before the Fourth of July.
And you long-time visitors to the Shispering Pines know what that means.
Red, white and blue frosted fired twinkies.
Patriotic music. (Carl is a big fan of Sousa.)
Carl dressed as Uncle Sam, complete with white whiskers. (And you haven't lived until you have seen a camel with white whiskers.)
And pyrotechnics. Oh, the pyrotechnics! You can't miss them. (Just be sure they miss you!)

Yes!! Sousa!!! Tell Carl if he wants to add a movie show, we'll bring "Stars and Stripes Forever" in genuine Technicolor!

And tell Carl that the U.S. Marine Band is in the process of recording and releasing ALL of Sousa's marches. They just released the first volume on their website. It's a free download!

Today is the "Friday" of my week ... I'm off tomorrow to attend to some appointments, Friday is an office holiday, and Saturday is the FOURTH! I listened to patriotic music on the way to work today and brought my binder of July Fourth postcards to show off. I'm getting the Fourth of July vibe going big-time.

The weather is wet and stormy today, but I don't mind, because the rest of the week should be nice. And not too hot!
