I'd like to make some to sell, but the pillow inserts are pricy---about $10 to $15. And that doesn't include the yarn. I'd have to charge too much to make my costs back.

I think you should try the pillow! The video I posted shows how to make the basic "peppermint"---you just make one that is larger, per the pattern instructions; then there are some decreases that aren't shown on the video, but they're not difficult. I could help you with those.
As for the cactus, I'll be sure to take pictures when it blooms. It tends to have a few blossoms at a time instead of blooming all at once, and it usually blooms a bit early for Christmas, but I'll take what I can get!
