
Aww that is a lovely memory. I think The Anxious Leaf was written by Henry Ward. My youngest is doing Autumn for topic in nursery and the kids all have to contribute something 'autumn'. On one of our walks Isaac found a leaf which reminded him of this story. So we printed the story and stuck the leaf at the bottom and took it in to show his classmatesOnce upon a time, I wrote a similar story to teach children about life and death and when I shared it with a friend, she indicated being familiar with a similar story about "Freddie the Leaf" and I found it at the local libray and was so disappointed that I never got my story published before someone else did.

I assume it's an old hitching post. There were a few of them in the village along the Mississippi River where I shot this one. Could be original, could be ornamental. The houses were old enough for them to be real.
That's so precious. What a neat experience for a child.
