TGIF, my Christmas friends!

What a busy weekend we have in store! Tomorrow is Bellville's Tom T. Hall Appreciation Day. For those who have never heard of him, Tom T. Hall is a (now retired) country singer/songwriter from the 60's & 70's, when he was a superstar. Anyway, back in the early 70's, when the school that my kids attend was first opening, they had several fund-raising concerts, and Tom T. Hall was booked to play. Before his show started, he walked over to the train depot (the same one across the road from Bernie's store) and was moved to write the song "God Came Through Bellville, GA". It wasn't a smash hit, but it was on his biggest album, "Country Is".

We've decided to dedicate a plaque on the depot in his honor, I've already signed the resolution declaring tomorrow as "Tom T. Hall Day", and we're having an art exhibit. Then later that evening we're having a huge pancake & sausage dinner, and live music. It should be fun!

Here's the song, if you're interested:

We invited him to attend the celebration as the guest of honor, but he said his health won't allow him to travel. He recorded a 10 minute note of appreciation that we'll play during the dedication, and we're sending him a second plaque. I'm looking forward to my last official function as mayor.

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

Good morning Brad, Happy Friday!
Sounds like it's going to be a very nice weekend, I hope you have a wonderful time.
Thanks for sharing the song!

I'm sorry, I know how you feel. Our car died last weekend on me while coming home from grocery shopping. We knew it would die soon and it did. My husband has been looking at cars all week. He might be picking up a new one today. We haven't had a car payment in years. I HATE cars!
Yep ... you can't live with 'em, you can't live without 'em.

That's great that you can work on your audio editing. At least you won't fall behind! I completely understand about all the costs at once. We had an expensive car repair also a couple weeks ago and it ended up needing something else a few days later Grrrrr! Let's hope this is it now for all of us.

Sending tea and shortbread biscuits :D
Perfect!
The audio editing is going well, but trying to record today---my tongue is falling all over itself and my brain won't put words together to make intelligent sentences! I may take a break for lunch and try again later.

Are your cars old or young? Wondering if the expenses on them are worth fixing. I had to get rid of my car because it reached a point that it wasn't worth fixing anymore a few years ago. I got 10 years out of it though after I bought it and it was already 4 years old when I had done that.
One is young (still paying for it) and one is old, but well maintained and still worth keeping. My object is to keep the old one on the road until the young one is paid for. The young one replaced an oldster that was close to needing more repairs than it was worth, so I know where you're coming from.

Good morning, Sam~
Thank you!
Hope you do, as well.

We may go to a few open houses, other than that, it's supposed to rain most of the weekend. We pan to grill out & watch seasonal movie marathons =]

How about you guys?

Storms and cold front moving in so it's a weekend indoors for us which is fine by me :) We have a couple minor house jobs to get done tomorrow but other than that we will just enjoy family time at home. I look forward to some good movies too.

Hope the open houses are go well. Enjoy your movie marathon and cosy weekend.

Good morning everyone, Happy Friday!
It's going to be a beautiful Fall day, sunny with a high of 58 degrees.
I'm going shopping for a new outfit today, my husband and I have to attend a party tomorrow evening. A company that he does business with are celebrating their 50th anniversary. There will be dinner, drinks & dancing, should be a nice night.
Hope everyone is well and has a wonderful day!

How fun. Hope you find a lovely dress and I am sure you all will enjoy yourselves at the party.

Good Friday Morning MMC! We currently have 49 degrees under clear skies. We're expecting a high temperature today of 57 degrees with sunny skies. 57 is quite a drop from yesterday but hey that's a little closer to where we should be for late October.
We made it to another Friday. Now we can sail into the weekend later today. I'm looking forward to it as this 4 day work week for me has been pretty busy. I am looking forward to a weekend of relaxing and catching up on Halloween stuff...of course the normal errands, exercise, and homework have to get done also. Hard to believe this is the last weekend before Halloween. Looking forward to doing the count on Saturday for Crown. Hopefully I won't mess up too bad :).
Enjoy the fact we're on Friday. Talk to you guys later!

Sounds like a really nice weekend ahead. Good luck with the count. You will do great.

Good Morning, Everyone!
So far a cool cloudy day here (highs in 50's today), but with some hot coffee and music it's not so bad. I have a birthday party to plan and prep for. I have two daughters whose birthdays are both on Oct 31 and my husband's birthday comes shortly after. So, a party for three!
I did not get to making my Christmas cards yesterday, but I will try to get at them today. Very soon it will be time to send cards!
Have a great Friday, Everyone, and a nice weekend too!

That is going to be some party! Must be fun and a lot of work planning for three! It's quite special that both girls are on the same day and on Halloween too! My youngest was due on Halloween actually. Funny enough, he is obsessed with all things Halloween :D Good luck with the card making, I am sure they will turn out amazing! I also need to start organising cards, thanks for the reminder.
Enjoy your weekend!

Pretty catchy song. Nothing like country music from back in the old days. I hope your last function as Mayor will be a smooth and memorable occasion. It sounds like a really great final celebration. Hope you have a blast!

LOL I Have similar days where I can't get the right words written. I agree a break will help. Try to take your mind of it and then go at it again. Good luck. You will get it right :)

Good Morning. I slept in this morning until after 10 am. That's a first for me in such a long time, with so much going on, I have not been sleeping very well, I was exhausted and it caught up to me. Lisa's grandfather passed away yesterday very peaceably about 1am. We were there up till 8 pm and we were the last ones to see him before he left to be with his wife in heaven.

Today is the viewing, tomorrow the funeral. My MIL wants it over and done with quickly. I can understand and respect that. Life goes on and this is just another part of the life that we get to experience and one day go thru ourselves....It was just hard to watch at times. But I do understand that it is life. He was comfortable, with family present and in no distress or pain. I am happy that now he is in heaven.....

Hi everyone! Saw our second house with lights yesterday. Not lit up yet but this family always put up their lights before Halloween! I love it! The kids always get a kick out of it too!!
Hey judesmama! Merry Friday!
How awesome and exciting to see!!

That sounds like a plan. I'm paying off my car in December. I plan on keeping it for many, many more years after this. It's only a 2013. I paid it off quicker than I had to and I only put about 10K miles per year on it. It's a Honda civic coupe.
