What a great year! Another fantastic countdown.
And thread participation WAY beyond what I ever dreamed possible when we first started here almost 10 years ago. (Has it really been that long?)

What keeps us here and keeps us coming back day after day and year after year?
Our common love of Christmas and its wonderful surrounding Season, of course.
But more than that, I think all of us know something truly good when we see it.
We see common ground with each other and we know that only the finest, nicest and kindest people would gravitate to a place such as this one. A site whose very topic insipires this kind of atmosphere. A haven where we can relax, be ourselves and not feel judged, all while wrapped in the contex of a deep, common interest.
(Can the same be said of many -- perhaps most -- other threads on the internet?)

So, as we proceed through the depth of this 50 day Season, hum a Christmas tune, put on a knowing smile and wrap yourselves in the warmth that this time of year and our wonderful members help to impart.

Today is mine and the Mrs. anniversary, and every year we head out to watch a Christmas movie...she knew what she was getting into lol.

Good morning, Jolly Folks! I am up early this morning with my husband who has to catch a plane for work. I hate it when he travels, but at least it's not super close to Thanksgiving.
The weather here has really taken a turn for the colder. Yesterday started out cold and sunny, so me and the little one took our morning walk. By 6pm the winds were whipping and it was pouring rain. We are supposed to get more of that today and a chance for snow tomorrow. Right now 39 degrees. I like it!
Plans for today: home with the little girl, so coloring, reading books, and playing mixed in with cleaning, organizing and maybe some decorating.

Good Friday Morning MMC! It's currently 52 degrees under mostly clear skies. We are expecting a forecast high temperature of 56 degrees under partly sunny skies. Sounds like a nice 1st day of the Christmas season.
Hard to believe it's really here huh? I had a bit of a tough day yesterday as the work day went kinda hectic and then my exam was well let's just say difficult . Fortunately the exam is only 10% of my grade and I've done well on everything up till now so even if I didn't do well it won't kill my overall grade.
Anyway, it's official we made it to the Christmas season! Time to start watching Christmas shows and listening to Christmas music. I'm going to be doing lots of that this weekend.
Oh and did I forget to mention it's Friday? TGIF! Hope you all have a great November 13th aka a special day to us here at MMC. . May your 1st day of the Christmas season be a great one and lead you all into a great and Christmassy weekend.

START watching Christmas & listening to Christmas music....guess I'm ahead of the game! Ha ha! Have a great day Edge! Hope your exam results are better than expected! xx

Merriest of mornings, MMC, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Wish I could have stayed up with you all! I have a big weekend ahead tomorrow...my husband is running his first marathon and I'm running my 8th 8K (4.96 miles). I haven't trained well for this one, so I'm pretty nervous. I hope I can just finish and have run the whole thing! Wish me luck.

Hello all,

Yesterday was my birthday, I turned 52! Gosh, the years are just blowing by like the leaves outside the window on my house.
I also got a phone call yesterday evening (at 6 pm) from the company I interviewed with weeks ago and they hired me over the phone last night, with the catch that I have to start this coming Monday. Whoa...was not expecting that-at-all! , well, cannot say no, because it is a job of a lifetime, so I accepted. Today I have gotten into the office early, already packed up all my office contents and put them in the van before anyone came into the office this morning. Now, I have to break the bad news to them...feel a little bad....
My kids gave me a swell birthday last night, trying to cheer me up, especially because they know how sad I have been lately with so many negative things going on in my life at the moment. So many, too many to list and well everyone has them, so I will not go into details. It's just accepting them and dealing with the cards that you have drawn from the deck of life....

Happy Birthday xmastidings! Congrats on the new job! I hope everything goes well today! Sorry you are having a rough time right now ~ sending (((hugs))) & prayers! I'll be thinking of you today!

Nicely warm here yesterday, with gentle breezes and plenty of sun.
Chilly today, then downright cold by Saturday night, where we could possibly touch close to the freezing mark!
BRRRR!
Right now, we show 53 degrees on our back door thermometer.

SPECIAL POST #5

One. We are one day away from the Christmas Season. One day from a season of love, laughter, peace on earth, and goodwill to all. For the past seven years, I have had the pleasure of counting down with some of the finest people I have never met, yet that I always leave (electronically) with a smile on my face. Indeed, MMC, we are a family of different generations, religions, opinions, and beliefs, yet we accept everyone because we all cherish what is beyond our next sleep. And, it is the Christmas Season that brings us together as one.

In the spirit of the final countdown to the Season, it only feels proper for me to preface my next thoughts with some lyrics from Kermit The Frog.

“There’s magic in the air this evening
Magic in the air
The word is at her best, you know
When people love and care
The promise of excitement is one the night will keep
After all, there’s only one more sleep ‘til Christmas.”

Although the song “One More Sleep ‘Til Christmas” refers to Christmas Day, I believe it fits perfectly with our yearly tradition and Countdown. Every year, we temper our excitement – to the best of our abilities – for the Christmas Season. Sure, we have our “Milestone” days and weekly celebrations at the ‘Pines, but we know that our favourite time of the year has a specific time and place. Now, we see that Christmas has bud and is ready to fully Blossom before our very eyes.

“Magic” will be in the air this evening, and that magic will overcome our lovely MMC family as we think about those we love, and those loved ones that we have lost, and keep them with us during our favourite time of the year. In less than 24 hours, we will all be able to smile and wish everyone our two favourite words without hesitation. Yes, this evening, once again, we will come together as one and welcome the 2015 Christmas Season!

Friends, there is only one more day. I am looking forward to carrying on the tradition of counting down with you tonight, in real time.

I'm getting SO excited to put up my tree! SO EXCITED!! I planned to start on in Thursday (Nov 19) but my hubby is going to be helping a friend split wood this Sunday ~ I may have to start on it?! (Wouldn't he be surprised when he gets home!)

Hello friends! Long time no see! I know it's been quite a while, but I wanted to stop in and say hi, especially since the special posts are partaking.

Two of the three tests I have to do for work, I now have done and I will be taking the last one next week and will have all my certifications, so I plan on being here more regularly again. Between being very busy with the kids and in my free time studying, if not at work, that's what I've been doing! My new job is going great though and I love it - it's very rewarding!

I think of you all often and pray for you all too! Hope all is well with you all! Have a great Thursday! Christmas is coming!!!
