Christmas Countdown - 2015

Hello all,

Yesterday was my birthday, I turned 52! Gosh, the years are just blowing by like the leaves outside the window on my house.
I also got a phone call yesterday evening (at 6 pm) from the company I interviewed with weeks ago and they hired me over the phone last night, with the catch that I have to start this coming Monday. Whoa...was not expecting that-at-all! , well, cannot say no, because it is a job of a lifetime, so I accepted. Today I have gotten into the office early, already packed up all my office contents and put them in the van before anyone came into the office this morning. Now, I have to break the bad news to them...feel a little bad....
My kids gave me a swell birthday last night, trying to cheer me up, especially because they know how sad I have been lately with so many negative things going on in my life at the moment. So many, too many to list and well everyone has them, so I will not go into details. It's just accepting them and dealing with the cards that you have drawn from the deck of life....

Wow! Happy Birthday, and congratulations on the new job! I know you hate to leave without notice, but we sometimes have to do things we don't like. Maybe the old boss will understand.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with some negatives in the midst of these positives, though. Praying for you, friend!

Today is mine and the Mrs. anniversary, and every year we head out to watch a Christmas movie...she knew what she was getting into lol.
Love the Coopers is what we are going to see, Ill let you know how it was.

Nicely warm here yesterday, with gentle breezes and plenty of sun.
Chilly today, then downright cold by Saturday night, where we could possibly touch close to the freezing mark!
BRRRR!
Right now, we show 53 degrees on our back door thermometer.

Not even Friday the 13th can slow this day down!!

I'm still trying to get over the time change a couple weeks ago, so there was no way I could have stayed up to bring in the season with y'all, but it sounds like a raucous time was had by all! LOL

Today is Lulu's 6th birthday! Elizabeth is making her a peanut butter cake later today, and I'll take her for a long ride in my truck while she hangs out.

The Wonderful Ties That Bind

What a great year! Another fantastic countdown.
And thread participation WAY beyond what I ever dreamed possible when we first started here almost 10 years ago. (Has it really been that long?)

What keeps us here and keeps us coming back day after day and year after year?
Our common love of Christmas and its wonderful surrounding Season, of course.
But more than that, I think all of us know something truly good when we see it.
We see common ground with each other and we know that only the finest, nicest and kindest people would gravitate to a place such as this one. A site whose very topic insipires this kind of atmosphere. A haven where we can relax, be ourselves and not feel judged, all while wrapped in the contex of a deep, common interest.
(Can the same be said of many -- perhaps most -- other threads on the internet?)

So, as we proceed through the depth of this 50 day Season, hum a Christmas tune, put on a knowing smile and wrap yourselves in the warmth that this time of year and our wonderful members help to impart.

now why did the picture come on sideways ? That is the tallest tree I have ever seen in front of city hall, going to look great when decorated...will post a picture after it get lit

Happy Friday Friends! Just working today and tonight my oldest daughter is going to a middle school dance and then having 3 of her friends sleeping over. Otherwise should be a quiet weekend. Here is a pic of my daughter and her friends with Ralph Macchio. My daughter is the one on the tie dye shirt. I think Ralph looks good! Sorry I did not post last night my internet was acting wonky! Have a good day!

Good Christmas Season morning, everyone!

Magic was in the air last night. The 2015 Christmas Season has arrived! After counting down, it's finally here. This is a fantastic time of year where the world welcomes in the Most Wonderful Time of the Year, which we long for all year long.

As previously mentioned, I'm excited to return home tonight and pull all the decorations out of storage to begin the festivities. Kim will get to indulge in the sweet tastes of Christmas, while I have to wait another three or four days due to my surgery. At least I will be get to marvel in the music and movies.

Which album is first played? Which movie is first watched? These will be hot topics tonight! So many favourites, so many choices.

Well, I am at Russell right now. The class is super quiet and well behaved. Next period, I have the same kids (Grade 10s) again. Next period, they will be putting up their classroom Christmas Tree. I thought about playing a bit of Jeff's latest Christmas Tree discussion from the Merry Podcast, but I didn't have time to find the exact timestamps. Oh well!

It's been a wet day around Canada's Capital and doesn't seem to be stopping. At least it is still warm enough for rain and not snow. Have a great Friday, everyone! The weekend is almost here. The Christmas Season is here!

Yes, it is, Holiday! The only downfall is that there does not seem to be many ornaments for the tree here. Maybe I will bring in a few next week. Still, it will be exciting to see a tree up in this classroom!
