Had a close call driving home from Ottawa. I was driving and we had passed through a small community on the hwy. There was a car fairly close behind me and a transport behind that car. When the hwy divided into two lanes on the other side, I started to move over a bit to the right to give the car and transport a chance to pass on that side if they wanted to.

All of a sudden, a car going in the opposite direction crossed way over from its right side to the outside lane and veered into my lane. It was heading toward me on an angle. I maintained control of the wheel, tapped my brake to warn the driver behind me and lowered my speed to use the shoulder to get out of that dangerous situation.

The driver suddenly veered off into the passing lane on his side of the hwy. My husband was a bit freaked out and I was calm. He couldn't get over my reaction; he thought I'd cover my eyes with my hands. I said, "I'd never let go of the steering wheel; what good would that do?"

Not sure what happened, my first thought was a suicide attempt, but he should have waited for the transport or perhapps he was having a heart attack. Since the driver was able to regain control to avoid the collision, I'm guessing he dropped a cigarette and took his eyes off the road or was texting and driving. It sure seemed like it was intended at the time. If I wasn't paying attention, I would not have seen him coming and been able to make a quick decision to avoid the collision. Thankfully the roads were dry.

The car and transport that were behind me slowed down and kept their distance behind me for a minute or two and I noticed the transport had two people in it and I imagine one of them was reporting the erratic driver. I thought I'd wind up dreaming about it during the night, but it never crossed my mind. I wonder if the driver got any sleep.

My husband and I discussed how horrible it must be for emergency services to arrive upon an accident that could have easily been avoided especially over the holidays. Way back early in his career, Number 1 son came upon an elderly couple that had succumbed to their injuries and the station wagon was full of Christmas presents.

For those who may recall, I had a fear of driving because my mind never seems to shut down so I thought I'd have a hard time concentrating on the task of driving and would never "bounce back" if I caused an accident that took another life. It's no longer my driving I worry about.
Im happy to hear you are ok,i know first hand how scary that can be,.I belive at times like that you have an angel with you watching over you :)
Hugs xo
For those people driving over the Christmas holidays, be aware and stay safe!

Good Christmassy Morning MMC !!

we are going to have a green Christmas heere this year, going up as high as 14c (56f) this week, going to be breaking some records with that !

I am feeling better but have no energy so going to take day off work Would rather do that than go in and possible pass it on to someone else. I only do 4 hours shifts right now so hopefully they do not have trouble replacing me.

So will spend day hanging out here and maybe doing some baking.

Have a great day everyone !!
It will definitely be green here---we may be around 65F on Christmas Eve. The grass is actually growing green again here---in New England! Still, I expect Winter still has plenty of snow and ice in store. It's just biding its time about when to spring it on us!

Glad to hear you're beginning to feel better. Rest up and take care of yourself.

Just found out what movie your Christmas tree in every of your posts is and just loved to see "the Bishops wife ".
A magnificent movie! I saw it for the first time only a few years ago, and really regretted not discovering it sooner. I love to watch it on Christmas Eve.

I miss those pj's; last pair I wore was when I was about 7 years old. Back when we did a Christmas commercial for my dad's clothing store, a little girl (toddler daughter of a family friend) was wearing a pair and she was so adorable I asked Santa for a baby sister that year for Christmas. Thanks for bringing that memory back through this photo.
I used to wear holes in the toes of mine somehow. I remember putting my foot in Mom's lap while she sewed up the hole! "Now hold still! I don't want to stick you!"

Good Monday Morning MMC! Christmas week is here. Wow. Unbelievable. Can you feel the anticipation? The days are dwindling to just a few. Before this week ends we will have the 2 best days of the year back to back Christmas Eve and Day. Hard to believe. I'm working Mon, Tues and Wed (may leave a little early Wed) and then will be ready to celebrate Christmas Eve/Day with my family. Not much left to say. Everything is wrapped. I'm thinking on Christmas Eve I will make some French toast and sausage for breakfast. Need something special to start the most special day of the year.
I hope you all have a great MONDAY and yes it's MONDAY but it's the MONDAY that starts off the best week of the year!

Yes you are right about the snow, we are going to get ours for sure.

Thank heaven you're safe, and that you were alert and calm to meet the situation. It's amazing no one was hurt. It's true ... no matter how safely one drives, you have to allow for the other guy doing something dangerous.

I know experts always say that flying is far safer than driving yet I'm totally scared to get on a plane but I get in my car and think nothing of it.

** CHRISTMAS SEASON DAY 39 **

Good Morning, Fellow Voyagers.
The long trip is nearing its end.

Days to Christmas Day: 4

Look at that, now. Barely over HALF A WEEK to go to Christmas Day.
Can you believe it??

Chilly again yesterday but with plenty of sun and little to no wind, it was really not too bad at all for December.
Today should be another sunny one, with more warmth to go along with it.
Currently, we record 41 degrees on our back door thermometer.

Have a Marvelous Final Monday before Christmas, my Friends.
(And yes, those Panthers did indeed advance to 14-0!)
Thanks, Crown!
Hope you have a wonderful day!

How scary, AMD.
So glad no one was injured.

We will actually be green here too, instead of brown like it usually is at this time of year with no snow. So if there's no white on the ground, which I would prefer, I'll take green vs. brown!!! Merry Christmas week everyone!!!!!!

The only Monday I actually, truly like!!! Merry Christmas week, Edge!!!

That could be that most people like to be in control of their transportation. With flying, you really have no control. Me, I don't mind flying, but I can empathize with how you feel.

I'm really wanting to get caught up - I'm missing all the merriment here!! This darn work thing!! LOL ;) Hope you are all having a wonderful Monday!!!
