Good Morning, MMC!!! It's a chilly morning here with a temp of 22. We got about an inch and a half of snow overnight so it looks pretty out there. Expect for the 40mph wind blowing it around and the fact that there is ice underneath it. My plan is to just stay inside and watch football today. Might make some cookies to snack on too. I hope everyone is having a GREAT DAY!!!!
I like your plans for today Made with that kind of weather. Have a good Sunday.

Goodness, it looks like the Invasion of the Snowmen! They'll keep things festive until springtime rolls around!

My mom used to make snowpeople, carolers, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa from a pattern that wrapped felt and batting around soup cans. She used to sell them to friends in the neighborhood. I have a cute picture of a crowd of her "little people" on top of our stereo console (remember those??).

I LOVE THIS!!! This just made my whole day!

I was desperately missing a bit of nostalgia from how I remember things from childhood. Taking down my decorations and tree right now and before I did so, I poured myself a cup of coffee and watched Rudolph off the DVR since I never got to watch it in December. It always reminds me of setting up the tree with my parents. My parents would watch the local TV guide to see what night they were airing Rudolph and that was the night we would put up the tree. Yes, pre-VCRs/DVD-Rs and DVRs. LOL You were at the mercy of the TV Programmers to see anything.

By the time my son was born I had a Christmas VCR tape I had recorded which had Rudolph, Frosty, A Christmas Story and A Christmas Carol (George C Scott's rendition). When I was 19 that became my tree decorating, cookie baking Christmas tape. So when Noah was born, I continued it. We'd put up the tree and I'd play that VCR tape. I don't think that tape has seen the inside of VCR player since 2002. That's when I purchased DVDs of most of my favorites and retired the cassette. I still have it though.

I just logged in here before beginning the great dismantling down to nothing but nativity type decorations, a few white lights near it and Christmas candles which will remain till the day after Candlemas. I was so happy to see this picture. Thank you so much for posting it! I love it. It looks like something that would have been in my mother's house or my grandmother's.

Opened on page 115. Current thread at page 125. LOL I'll catch up as soon as I do the terrible deed. Then feel guilty knowing Noah and Dana will come in later this evening and go, "Aaaawwwww you took the tree down? Aaaawwww maaaan!" Bud will come home and say, "Aawww baby I'm sorry. You could have kept it up you know! I don't mind! Anyone wants to say something they can deal with me." LOL

Okay... here I go.

I swear...

No... I really am going.

Thanks, Buddy!!!! I hope you stay warm too!!! I start shivering just thinking about your temps!!!

Go Pack, Go!!!!!!

Xx
Thank you!
We will definitely try to!
We take very short "walks" in this kind of weather, and wait as long as we can so it warms up a bit as well. Poor Harlowe lasted about 3 minutes before she was lifting her paws. I always pick her up & head home when that happens. We'll try again later, poor thing. I wish she didnt need to, bless her heart.

Go Pack, Go!!!

I hear ya graywolf. I always say putting up the tree and decorations 1000 times more fun than taking them down. However, the way I look at it is when I take it down it's only so that I can have the fun of putting them up again in roughly 300 days!

Our stores were so picked over. Even the dollar store had very little Christmas left this past week. Bummer here, but awesome for you! Enjoy the lights that are still up! When I brought Mom home Thursday night, I counted 3 or 4 houses with lights on yet - that was it! :(
The leftovers were horrible this year, I always hope to get good stuff.

Afternoon All! My first check in of the day. Everyone was gone around here by 7:30am so I've just been working on a myriad of things from work-work to housework. ;)

Tree comes down tomorrow. If I had an artificial one I'd leave it up longer. Everyone's discussion today regarding how many houses still have lights up with trees lit and such made me remember something. When I was a child we had a neighbor across the street who always had her tree sitting curbside for the yard debris pick up on December 26th. It always made me so sad, because where we were from, no one ever took their tree and lights down till some time well into January.

After several years had gone by and I was older, I asked her why and she said, "It's December 26th. Christmas is over. Good riddance." It felt like I was speaking to Ebeneezer Scrooge himself. LOL What I thought was funny was she was such a very nice woman. I always wondered what made her despise the holiday like that.

My son just came home so I'm going to help him with a project he's doing for his girlfriend's father and then he'll be heading out. Bud won't be home till well after 8:30 or 9 tonight. So I'll just keep working on things. LOL We always try to get all of our work things done and out of the way so when we get to be home together - we can just spend time with each other.

Hope everyone has a blessed Saturday. Be safe driving in your snowy conditions. We have thunderstorms today and then finally a cool front tomorrow. I'm so excited!

I had a friend like that, he loved decorating for Christmas, lights everywhere, but he ripped every thing down on the 26th. He always said he hated Christmas stuff after the 25th.
