So just curious. Are good Friday and easter Monday holidays in the US??
It is here but shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc open and do sunday trading hours so they close early. Schools, Offices and banks are closed. Easter Sunday nothing opens. Everything is closed.
No ... I think for the same reason a lot of government buildings do not allow Nativity scenes or Christmas trees. There's a big fear of offending other faiths, and the response is to appear inclusive by being exclusive.

And it's the oddest thing: We listen to an all-news radio station in the morning, and for the past two years at least, on March 17th there is NO mention of St. Patrick's Day. Something political must be going on with that.

No, Good Friday and Easter Monday aren't generally holidays here ... I think for the same reason a lot of government buildings do not allow Nativity scenes or Christmas trees. There's a big fear of offending other faiths, and the response is to appear inclusive by being exclusive. Neither day is a federal holiday in the U.S. As others have said, private companies can do what they wish regarding holidays.

It's funny how we change and our sleeping habits too. When I was in my 20s I couldn't get up for 7 now if I sleep past 7 I jump out of bed like I missed half the day and am shocked when it happens.

I used to sleep until 10-11am on a regular basis when I could (mostly weekends) but since I've been at my current job working 5am-1:30pm, I don't sleep much past 8 when I don't have anything going on. Of course, I can't stay awake much past 10-11pm anymore like I used to either.

Okay thanks I understand. Easter sunday and Christmas day are teh only two days where nothing opens including bus services etc.

All the other holidays or Bank Holidays as we call them are like what you describe above. Some places still open depending on the company. Banks/Schools/government places are closed on Bank Holidays.

I think most people work but if you work for the government you may get Good Friday off. Some companies may close that day but I think most are open. And I don't know anyone who gets Easter Monday off. I believe that kids have off that week from school though.

I work for the state of WI and we don't have either of those days off. I know that some of the Private Catholic schools will have Easter Monday off, but the public schools do not. Our spring break is the week before Easter for the schools, but with Easter always on a different Sunday due to the Church Calendar, it's not every year that it's like that. Otherwise they wouldn't have off for Easter anyway.

Happy St Patrick's Day, MMC!! It's also a special day for me as it is also the 14th birthday of my step-daughter. Have a merry green day everyone!!

I think on a whole St. Patricks Day in the U.S. has been turned into a "drunk" day. Kinda like Mardi Gras has for years now.

I would agree with that ... and that's too bad.
I prefer to celebrate by wearing green and listening to Irish music. I've been listening to Irish Pub Radio on TuneIn Radio this week, but this morning I can't get it to stream.

Good evening,

It was one of those days today.
I overslept this morning, so my day started in a rush. Got to work, some coolers went down last night, so we end up throwing out thousands of $$$ of food. Then we tried to play catch u55
Rp the rest of the day.
I am exhausted, I need to get some sleep.
Goodnight, everyone
Oh no! I hope today is a much better day! Got a text from a friend bright & early this morning that her freezer went out. Must be in the air.

Good Thursday Morning MMC! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Happy Friday Eve! Any other happys? Well I'm happy because today it's my last work day of the week. I know the next couple of weeks will seem long because I won't have any days off and I got used to it these last 2 weeks. But I'm gonna enjoy this 3 day weekend ahead. I am hoping to find some time to just rest. I just don't do enough of that (other than late in the evening before bed or when I'm sleeping at night). I'm not one of those who can just sit at home for 2 hours in the middle of the day on my couch doing nothing. I am gonna try to do something like that though. Saturday I will be busy so I'm looking at Friday as being my day to relax some.
I hope you all enjoy your St. Patrick's Day! Next holiday...Easter!
Hope you have some time for rest this weekend! I am off tomorrow too - be we are heading back to my SIL's for more cleaning. I think I would rather be at work! ;) Have a Happy St. Patty's Day!

Happy St. Patty's Day, my Christmas friends!

I am of Irish descent, but I gave up beer along time ago. As Binger suggested, I'll have to settle for some Green Mountain coffee!

We got some unexpected rain this morning, so I didn't have to rinse the pollen off of my truck. Nice! Of course, all the puddles in the yard are yellow. It's crazy!

I hope y'all have a great, green day! :D
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!! Enjoy the Green Mountain coffee! ;)

We are closed on Good Friday. YAY! :) Many businesses close at noon on Good Friday. Banks close at noon & re-open at 3. Our school is closed Thursday, Friday & Monday. I think most stores are closed on Easter Sunday.

That's an adorable picture ♥
Thank you Holiday. I was up with Maggie a few times but I feel alright. She's sound asleep now. Go figure!
:)
Sorry to hear you were up with Maggie a few times. That little stinker sleeping now! Lucky dog! Enjoy the visit with your parents today. Have a great day. Happy St. Paddy's Day!
