You can tell it is springtime here, our neighbors have their campfire going for the second time this week. When they do that we are pretty sure they drink, because they constantly swear very loudly.
Hope you all can get some sleep tonight

We are heading to Philadelphia. My wife and I went to Philly a couple of years ago for a ComicCon, but we did not get to go to any of the sites. My wife is an art teacher and working on her Masters in Modern Art History, so she wants to go to the art museum. I, being a history teacher, want to see all of the historical places too. On the way to Philly we are going to stop at Gettysburg for a couple of days. I am a big Civil War buff and I teach a class on the Civil War. On the way home from Philly we are planning on heading to Sharpsburg Maryland for the Battle of Antietam. Then we will go to Harper's Ferry, West Virginia.

The Gettysburg, Antietam and Harper's Ferry is mostly for me. With my Civil War class, I take the students who want to go on the trip to those locations. The last time we took the trip we went with another school as a joint trip. This was because I am really good friends with the teacher from the other school and he has done the trip for the last 20 years. Next year I will be just taking my students and will need to lead the trip myself, so I want to go this summer to make sure I know where I am heading and can plan the trip the way I want it to go. So, I figured since we were headed that way as a family, it was a good chance to visit with no pressure. Plus, my wife enjoys the history and both of my kids are older enough to enjoy the trip.

Sounds like a great vacation, be sure to get a Philly cheesesteak while you're there.

Good evening,

Just another ho hum day here, it was our anniversary but we really didn't celebrate it since we barely saw each other. With all the things the kids are into we get very little time during the week. We will celebrate more on Sunday when we go to the next Black Wolves game. Thank you all for the well wishes.
I went and visited my grandfather today, he is doing well, if you could just keep him in your thoughts and prayers, they discovered a spot on his lung. He says he is starting to feel old, and he doesn't like it, seems very run down. He is 93 years old after all.
Work will be beckoning early enough, so.....
Goodnight, everyone

It's not too bad at this time of year, most of our windows are closed at night. During the summer it's a different story.

I love going to bed and hearing our neighbors/friends giggling and talking around the fire! Ahh summer! Makes me smile! But drunk swearing when you're trying to sleep gets old real fast!

Oh my goodness – "starting to feel old" I love your grandpa! What an attitude! Many prayers for him! I hope the spot on his Lungs turns out to be nothing at all!
I hope you both enjoy your anniversary celebration when you get a chance!
Sleep tight!

Good evening MMC! I had to go to Pines early tonight because I'm spending the night at my moms! Emma left early for a wedding tomorrow so I am covering tonight! Mom is doing well – thankfully – and as I expected it was a wasted day for mom! Her appointment was at 1:30 and they left the apt at 4:15 after only drawing blood and telling her that her count is still high but it is better high then low and she needs to come back in two months! Geez! I'm thankful for that news but still what a joke!

I forgot to tell you all about the catalog I received in the mail today…

:snowball:D:):march:
Glad to hear it wasn't anything to worry a lot about. Continued prayers for the count to be at normal levels for your mum so she doesn't have this added stress.

I always love how Christmas starts to sneak in here and there around mid year.

I'm limping a bit tonight (twisted ankle a bit when running besides hurting my lower back a little)...and I'm tired as heck cause work is overwhelming...but nothing...nothing will stop me from...reaching the Pines and seeing Carl (it just may take me a little extra time to reach it without a vehicle).

So sorry to hear of your discomfort. Prayers for healing and a quick recovery. Hope you are better this morning for work.

PS Did you enjoy the camel taxi Carl sent to pick you up after reading your post? I bet that was some ride.

It's the same for us to with conflicting schedules, work, kids we barely have time together apart from Saturdays!

Prayers for your grandpa. I really hope it's nothing serious. Thinking of you all. Keep us posted.

Are there any posts or sections in here that give tips and tricks to using this forum? It seems to me that a lot of you (snowflake22 in particular) are flying around here at breakneck speed, jumping in and out of many forums in mere seconds.

Thanks...

One of the things that might help is that you can create a Watch List of threads that you would like to keep up with. That way you will get notifications when someone posts on the thread. It also means that your favourite threads are all together in a list so you can access them quickly instead of having to scroll through and find them.

You will find the Watch tab at the top right hand corner of the thread page. You will also find a Watched Forums and Watched Threads tab on the main bar. When you click those all your favourite threads/forums will be there for quick access.

You can set/adjust your notifications to suit.

Hope this helps.

Good news about your tooth.

This sounds like exactly the type of trip our family enjoys too. I hope you guys enjoy your time there. Sounds like the timing is perfect with your school trip looming. Let us know how it goes.
