Yes, it's 'Pines Day once again. Our happy mid-week respite, hosted as always by Carl and his zany crew.

But even Carl would exhort us to attend to the daily numbers first thing.
As such:
Days to the Season: 151
Days to Christmas Day: 193

The day after tomorrow -- SINGLE DIGITS to the 10th Milestone Marker on our chart -- the HALF WAY POINT to Christmas Day 2016.
(Well, what do you know about that!)


Yes, the heat and humidity returned yesterday but it was not as bad as it was on Sunday. Tolerable for mid-June.
Today, the story may be rain, and that could be repeated each day until the weekend.
At this hour, it is mostly cloudy with a temperature reading of 74 degrees here in central North Carolina.

(I hear there is a new fired twinkie flavor to be tried out on us guinea pigs there this evening. I for one am happy to volunteer!)

Thanks Crown! Initially I read "guinea pig flavor"--not quite appetizing! Glad it'll be something else...:confused::confused::eek:

We got a 1 1/2 mile walk in this morning before it started pouring, then storming - Gracie was hanging out in the basement when I left for work. She does not care for storms! :eek: Poor girl! Looks like we will have a clearing here for a hour or so but they say more rain later. We need it!

The day is off to a good start. I woke up to a really heavy rain, which was out of nowhere and a bit strange, but whatever. lol I then started to make coffee and breakfast. Henry was already up and running around the house with a brown blanket on his head, I have no idea why.:p
Then I remembered that today is the day I get the results back from my resident educator summative assessment(RESA). This is what all new teachers in Ohio have to do in their first 3-4 years in order to stay a teacher. The first 2 years are just going to some meetings and filling out meaningless paperwork. However, in year 3 there are 4 "tasks" which you have to complete. Those tasks range from making videos of teaching, uploading a bunch of files from tests, homeworks, emails, etc... Then you answer a ton of questions for each task. The process is done so that 2 tasks were due in December and 2 in April. You might remember me complaining about doing them.
Well, anyway, I am happy to say that I passed all parts of RESA!!! :D Year 4 of the program is just more meetings, but requires no actual work that I have to do. I am so happy and relieved to be done with RESA!!!:jump

We had a power outage that affected most of the county this morning, and we're finally getting back to normal. I don't know what caused it, but it was obviously pretty serious.

I went to lunch with some of the folks in the office today. Unless a vendor or the company is buying, I usually go home for a sandwich, but I've decided to go with Russell more often. It's difficult to watch him already struggling with ALS. His right hand is so weak now, he can't open a door or eat with it, and he can barely write. Bless his heart, I wish I could help.

But, he's always in a good mood and interested in the job. I'm not sure I could be, in his position. He's a stronger man than I.

The kids went to another VBS last night, then they jumped in the pool when they got home. I don't know what time they came in, but it was way after I went to bed. Ah, to be young again!

My oldest daughter has a pick-up soccer game with the high school girl team tonight so I am going to take her to that. Otherwise not too much is going on..see you at the Pines. New car is doing great. I'm feeling better about things! Taking a relaxing evening tonight-tomorrow is busy, but I get to go home to my parents' for the weekend for Father's Day, so that's fun. I hope you all have a great evening. Take it easy!
 
A sausage link dipped into Twinkie batter and then deep fired? Not exactly what I was expecting from Carl. I like how he is serving it in a waffle cone filled with scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon pieces, and cheese though!!

Yes! It's hot and humid outside, but in my office it's the frozen tundra. Who the heck needs the air conditioning down to 62° ?!
