Good Monday morning, Christmas friends!

When I got up Saturday morning, I had no idea the extent of damage our community suffered. We had power, but apparently the block we live in was the only spot of electricity in our county. Electricity was available 45 miles west of us, but nothing any closer to the coast.

There are huge trees down across roads, highways, power lines, cars, houses...it's such a mess. I'm thanking the Lord that we had minimal damage at home. Some big tree limbs down, some damage to the house, but that's about all. Across the street, trees are down, crushing storage buildings, and falling on at least one house.

I worked at Bernie's store Saturday (it's across the street and still had power), helping him serve the HUNDREDS of people flocking there for gas, water, ice, everything. Someone posted on Facebook that he was still open (and I shared it LOL), and he got slammed. All the gas sold, water, meat, bread. We made at least 250 pizzas for people who couldn't cook. It was crazy!

I worked yesterday getting generators for mom, to keep here freezers running, and getting her a lamp and the TV working. She and my brother have been coming to the house for showers.

Our pastor had come to our area to help with cleanup. He was in his truck with a generator to loan, chain saws, etc. He was rear-ended trying to get to the church, and ended up with a broken nose, his son had a dislocated shoulder. It's just a shame. People out driving, looking at all the damage instead of at the road.

I can tell you, we live in a rural area where guys hunt & fish all the time, and we're still not prepared for lack of power and phone. I've never really been much of a "prepper" before, but this has given me cause to look more closely at getting prepared for the next one. Whew!

Power is slowly being restored around our area, and of course they got power back on here at work LOL, so here I am. I appreciate all the prayers for folks in the path of the hurricane.

Now that the storm is gone, the weather is perfect!! Sunny and 50°F this morning!

I hope y'all have a great day! :D

I am glad to hear you're safe, that damage sounds quite bad. My thoughts are with all those affected.

Good afternoon all. Well, I had to leave school early today, I received a call from the school nurse, Henry was sick and had a fever. Soooo, home we went. That is the nice thing about teaching in the same district your children go to school. It looks like I may have tomorrow off too. The nurse told me she sent 5 kids home from school today at the Elementary! All with fevers of about 102. Something is certainly going around the school.
I hope Henry is feeling better.

Happy Columbus Day, nmc!
It sounds like Carolina's birthday prep is going great!
Hope your work day goes well~
Have a wonderful day!
Yes the birthday prep is pretty good...now it's just hiding the presents from her. I even got a few gifts that she will get at Christmas
Hi everyone .. woke up this morning to the house being at 60 degrees. had to turn the heaters on for the first time just to take the chill out of the air. Suppose to warm up this week so I wont see the need for the heater to much this week.

Snowflake thanks again for that recipe. Made it yesterday and it turned out fantastic. Definitely a keeper!!!

Got to work on the outside Halloween decoration tonight after work. The wind we had yesterday and last night was terrible and made a mess. Some of the inflatables got tangled up in their anchor lines and our blow mold pumpkins were being blown around. Hopefully everything still works.
I totally agree! I needed a hoodie just to walk to the kitchen. Stay warm!

Afternoon NMC. That is quite an interesting substitution, but hey any day off... :D
Have fun with the preparations and the actual party and have a great day in the sun.

Thank you! 6 kids between the ages of 2 and 8 will be quite a party

Goodnight MMC! Does anyone know what Shopkins are? Carolina has decided she wants them and I have no clue what they are or do. It probably sounds like I've been hiding under a rock but I promise it's just cuz I'm living the toddler life

Good evening,

Happy Columbus day, Indigenous Peoples day, or Native American day, whichever your state celebrates.
It was busy at work, especially since I was working a solo act until 1pm, needless to say I am exhausted.
Day off tomorrow, just winding down the night by watching Frankenstein (Boris Karloff).
My favorite of the Universal Monster movies.

Goodnight, everyone.

Shopkins are some very tiny toys that resemble items you would shop for (ice cream, cupcakes, shoes, etc). I work at Wal-Mart and there is a section for them in the same aisle as Barbie and Disney toys for girls (usually at the end of the aisle).
Have fun, there is quite a lot, they usually come in packages of several due to the size of each item.
Enjoy and have a great night.

Time to call it quits for a few hours. Connie had a nice birthday and now to get ready for another work week.
I pray you all had a nice day and will have an even better tomorrow.
Goodnight to all my MMC friends.

Thank you! Looks like they are very little so she probably won't be getting them til next year.

You're welcome!
Harlowe is doing pretty good, thanks. We had a few adventures over the weekend, but came out okay.
I'm doing good, just tired. Glad that Adi is back home, now we can get back to a regular routine again
Glad that your eldest is doing much better.
Hope you're having a nice evening!
Glad to hear it. I didn't realise A was away. Happy to hear he is back now and you all can resume into a routine again.
Hope you get some rest.

Merry Tuesday,
Busy day ahead. My eldest is better now and back to school.
I'm cold. 40s today but at least dry.

Christmas is making it's way into our lives over over here.

Excited to learn yesterday that the city will switch on Christmas lights on November 04th this year. They haven't released who will flick the switch or perform on the evening yet. The Christmas markets will follow on November 10!

I also saw that Movies24 will switch to Christmas24 this year on October 29th. It's the earliest they have ever done. I guess with Nov 01 being a weekday they decided to do it on the weekend instead. I am so EXCITED!

Catch up later.
