Christmas Countdown - 2016

Good morning MMC! Merry Monday!!! Why is it all weekend I didn't care that I'm not prepared at all for 40 people coming on Thursday but today I would give my left arm to be at home prepping?? Ha ha! No, really it will be fine - I always start stressing as it draws near!! @Bradmac I was so happy my niece texted this morning asking what she could bring! Guess what I told her?? YEP, Green Bean Casserole!

It was a busy weekend. We were gone all day Saturday, yesterday we were dog sitters for my nieces Great Dane puppy. She is SO SWEET! Her & Gracie were enchanted with each other. So darn cute! We also had Jim's Dads side of the family, Thanksgiving. Ate too much of course - let the holidays begin! I stayed with Mom last night. She has started with a cough/runny nose - but she had a good night. I swear I smell like walking essential oil today. LOL! The smell is stuck in my nose!

Oh I bet it was a riot seeing Gracie play with the Great Dane puppy. Previous neighbours got a puppy Great Dane/Pit Bull mix and the thing was all legs and so goofy running around. Just a sweetheart. Of course Loki being so little would freak out when he'd run towards us. Hope you're not stressing out too much about your preparations for Thanksgiving.

Hi Snowflake22, hope you had a great weekend. Yes we did go out to a restaurant on Saturday. The wait was much too long at the first place we went to but second choice was still pretty good. We were done just in time before the Montreal Canadiens game started, so we avoided the "commotion". Hugs right back

Good Monday evening! First day back from vacation wasn't too bad, except for driving in the snow this morning. And it's cold enough still that it hasn't all melted. If it weren't for the very cold winds, it would have been a pleasant day, even with the snow. Hope everyone is safe and warm tonight, enjoy the rest of your evening!

Merry Monday! Unfortunately my Dad is in the hospital. He went in yesterday morning and he is having a GI bleed but they are not sure where? They did an upper endoscopy and could not find anything so they think it could be coming from the small intestine. He has to have a transfusion today and hopefully will be out before Thanksgiving..we will see. He feels pretty good though..I am going to go down and see him after work.

I know how you feel. I have had a sinus headache all day. I took more meds a couple hours ago & I'm feeling better now. To much to do tonight to be tired/headachy!! I don't think I have ever been so chillaxed when having 40 people coming over in THREE days - need to get my rear in gear. LOL! Good luck with your prep. So exciting!

I ended up bringing Maggie back to the veterinarian today. The doctor sent us home with new medicine, I'm praying it helps to settle her tummy. My poor girl can't catch a break. We're not sure what's going on, he said it may be viral. If she doesn't improve within a few days they may have to do blood work again. I'm praying she feels better, especially before Thanksgiving. I have so much to do and I hate to leave her side when she's sick. I'll keep you posted.

Make sure your oven rack is in the middle of the oven---not too high and not too low. Peek in on them about a minute before the lowest time on the recipe.

If you bake two sheets at a time, halfway through the baking time, switch them---put the bottom sheet on top and the top sheet on the bottom---for more even baking.

If you burn them, don't be discouraged. Whip up another batch. Like anything else, it takes practice. That's why I fell back on making chocolate chip cookies: I've baked more of them than anything else in my time.

Thomas is working from Thursday to Monday
It's almost a tradition that he's not home for Thanksgiving
So I'm used to do everything myself, but it's okay
We are going to be 8 people for Thanksgiving dinner ♥

The kids have the day off on Friday
Maybe we are doing som Black Friday shopping
We'll see.. I dont like crowded places...

I ended up bringing Maggie back to the veterinarian today. The doctor sent us home with new medicine, I'm praying it helps to settle her tummy. My poor girl can't catch a break. We're not sure what's going on, he said it may be viral. If she doesn't improve within a few days they may have to do blood work again. I'm praying she feels better, especially before Thanksgiving. I have so much to do and I hate to leave her side when she's sick. I'll keep you posted.

I hope that cold of yours is gone this morning.

The chocolate chip cookies came out very nicely, thank you! (Mr. taste-tested them for me.) They're here in the office kitchen waiting to be devoured. I didn't have any nuts handy to put in them, so I put a label on the container that says "No Frills Chocolate Chip Cookies"!

Very cool and unique. It will draw a crowd I'm sure...

Happy New Week, everyone!

We woke up to a dusting of snow this morning ... which was a little surprise! It's in the low 30s and a bit nippy, so it's starting to feel like Thanksgiving outdoors. I got my crown re-cemented early this morning, so I'll be in good shape for the office Thanksgiving at lunchtime. (I'll have to go easy when chewing on that side for today, though!) And the receptionist told me a shortcut (with no traffic!) to get directly to the route I take to work, so I wasn't even late.

Here it is Thanksgiving week, and I still can hardly believe it's so close. This weekend was a whirl. I don't know how I'm going to get everything done before Christmas, but it always happens somehow!

Merry Tuesday Merry. Today, we woke up to some light rain. 34 degrees outside, so it could have just as easily been snow. It should get rid of some of the snow in the yard, which will help with setting the outside decorations. Sorry to hear about the dental issues, but I'm glad it was an easy fix. Just a couple days away now and I am hoping to get to the store today and finish up.

A terrific Tuesday to you Holiday. 40 guests? I get worn out even thinking about that many... lol. Obviously something you are use to, so I'm sure you will have it well in hand. Why does it seem like so many of us get ill around the holidays? Why not the first week of February if we really have to?

I really hope the new medication has helped little Maggie already. You have so many things to do to prepare for Thanksgiving, I hope you are taking care during this busy time. Hugs to both of you.
