Good Thursday morning, Christmas friends!

Happy December 1st! I ordered my Christmas present last night; a fancy table for the crazy-big TV that mama bought us for Christmas. Nancy knew just what I wanted for Christmas.

LOL! Oh well. There's always next year.

We're planning our office party, and my ideas are getting shot down. I can't win this year!

I hope so too...there's almost too many good ones and new ones (that I never knew about) that I find every year. It's nice they have their lights on overnight. I appreciate it.

I know "Almost Day" from a Weavers Christmas album that Mr. has. And yes, for 90 years of age, Tony is still getting it done, just not at full power. Still, how well do any of us sing in a chilly rainstorm, live, in front of millions of viewers? Still a pro, he is.

There are SO MANY new ones, it's hard to keep up! It's almost stressful. Ha ha!!

Yes, Groban and Kelly did good performances as did a few others.

As for Tony Bennett, I love him to death out of nostalgia and it's amazing he has the stamina to perform at 90 but he really can't sing much any more. His performance in the Macy's Parade can only be described as awful. (At one point, he almost fell over and had to be steadied by Miss Piggy!)
I really think it's about time for him to retire, bless his heart.

Electricity rates being what they are, we only run ours a few hours each night. Except Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, when we leave them on all night.

Laura had a big growth spurt after I trimmed her back in the summer, so she may just be worn out. I keep checking the leaf tips for that little bulge that means a bud is growing, but no luck. Maybe the new leaves are too young and tender to support buds this year.

I'm so much of a traditionalist ... I get annoyed at contemporary singers who endlessly noodle around notes instead of hitting them head on. (Cowards!

) So I wasn't expecting to enjoy Tori Kelly's "O Holy Night," but she stayed close to the melody line without too much ornamentation, and nailed the high note (as the crowd cheered). Good show! And I like Josh Groban's sound and simple delivery, too.
