Christmas Countdown - 2016

Hi You guys,.

I hope Your December was fabulous so far.
All is fine over here...or was....since the Terror Attack in Berlin (our Capitol) we are still in shock....but I won´t allow those cowards to spoil my joy for Christmas and let them dictate my life. We will go to the Christmas Market on Thursday or Friday.....we won´t be afraid.
Aside from the shock....we are good....Kandice´s grades in school have been excellent (I´m amazed....I was a good pupil...but not close to that), the family is fine and Christmas is close.

I wish You all a beautiful time my dear friends.

I thought of you & Kandice when I heard about this. I know it's frightening, but I'm glad that you're not allowing it to ruin Christmas!

Please say a little prayer for my Mom (again!) This morning she had a rapid heart rate & shortness of breath. Now she is vomiting! Home health nurse to come at 3pm! Oh how I hate this for her! Poor lady!! Can't seem to catch a break!

Thank you, it has been a rough few weeks, emotionally and physically. She still has trouble every night, some worse than others. None of us are sleeping very much. Her cardiologist suggested I take her off the medicine, see how it goes for a week. If there's improvement, then put her back on it to see how she does-if she has trouble again, we will concur it is a bad reaction to the medicine. However, it's not typical. I'm worried about other diseases, and cognitive function. Breaks my heart to see her this way. I have scheduled an appointment with her regular vet for Friday, so she can examine her.

Ours has finally hit today, enjoying the sunshine too. So nice not to be -17 degrees any longer.

Here too temperatures are going back up. No dreadfully cold temps on the forecast for the next couple of weeks. I'm so sorry to hear that Harlowe is still having issues and that everyone is not sleeping well. It's good that her vet can see her before Christmas. Hoping that it's just the medicine not agreeing with her and nothing else. And hope you are finding ways to enjoy this Christmas week. Sending hugs from Loki and me.

Good Tuesday morning! A full day of cooking and baking for my family tonight started at around 6:30am. I've got a coleslaw and macaroni salad done. Now getting some breakfast before moving on to my family's favourite veggie-packed sub sandwiches. We're going for "buffet-style". Mini pizzas and individual nacho bites, plus the usual dip and cheese canapés are also on the menu. Then I'll get to baking chocolate and butterscotch chips cookies, oatmeal cookie sandwiches with a maple buttercream, cinnamon roll quick breads and sucre à la crème, a traditional Québec fudge made with cream, icing sugar and maple syrup. As usual I will make way too much food, always worried about running out. But that's ok, I'll have my lunches for the rest of the week. Hope everyone will have a wonderful day!

Good afternoon .. In the final hours until I start my Christmas Vacation Then annual bake-a-thon starts. Kids still have school all week so as soon as they are out the door tomorrow morning I will get their gifts wrapped. Their gifts are the only ones not wrapped yet. Once the wrapping is done and the gifts re-hidden, it's back to baking! Still cant believe it Christmas week already! Hope everyone is ready or is close to being ready.

Busy day. Mom had her disability hearing this morning. The lawyer said he think it went good but you never know for sure. Should get the decision in 60 to 90 days.

My niece is sick too and stayed home. Her dad watched her this morning but had to be at work at noon. So we left the federal building and came right out here to babysit her this afternoon.

Then I have to go pick up my aunt from work since I'm using her car today because mine decided to act up yesterday.

Hopefully things will settle down tonight.

Me, too. It's been almost 4 days, and her nighttime reaction is still the same. Some nights are better, but she is still agitated/in pain/confused. If anything, the medicine may have elevated things.

Each year, I plan and draft the next year's countdown launch post some time between Christmas and New Year's Day (my yearly one week vacation from counting!).
I copy the prior year's launch post into a word document, then review and edit it as necessary, changing dates and adding the current year's count total in the statistics section. Sometimes parts of the text no longer appeal to me or aren't relevant so I delete or change items. But it stays about 90 percent the same year after year.
(After all, Christmas is largely about tradition, right?)

And your Countdown is one of my favorite Christmas traditions!

A busy day at work ... not a minute to look in on the Countdown (or anything else!). I'm still at the office waiting for late work to come in. Bleh. I hope I don't have to wait too long, and I hope it isn't much. My brain is worn down to a nub!

We had Mr.'s car towed to our dealership last night, and are awaiting word as to how much repairs will cost. They were encouraging last night, telling us there's no need to let the insurance company total it. It's old, but it's been regularly maintained and has low mileage for its age, so we'd rather repair it and keep it running if we can. I hope we know more before Christmas.

One more day of school left before break. And it is an early dismissal!

This evening we have a fire going, listening to Christmas music. My wife is baking some cookies and getting dough ready for more cookies tomorrow night. It is so wonderful to be able to lounge around in the evening and enjoy Christmas time!!
