Well, we had a nice Christmas morning yesterday although it was marred by sickness. Fortunately, everyone is doing better now. Stomach virus or possible mild food poisoning.
Regardless, we push on to New Year's.

Remember, Folks. This thread shuts down permanently at the stroke of midnight Jan 1, to be replaced almost immediately by "Christmas Countdown - 2017"!
Remember also that the count to Christmas Season 2017 has been silently running since November 13.
You will be surprised how far along we are by the time the new thread is launched Jan 1!

Happy morning after, Christmas friends!

Before I found this place, I used to get the PCBs (Post-Christmas Blues), sometimes even before Christmas Day. But not anymore! It's Christmas all the time here!

We had the family over for breakfast here yesterday morning, then we had a late lunch & gift exchange at my mom's. We stayed late, then came home with the HUGE TV she bought us. While Nancy slept, I got it working, hooked up to the network, and programmed with Netflix & Vudu. I'm ready!

Work is closed today, but we're back at it tomorrow. We only get one day off for New Years, on Monday. But that gives me two four-day workweeks.

I hope y'all have a great day!:D
I'm with you on MMC having gotten rid of my PCBs. I don't get them anymore. I mean yeah it's a tiny bit sad that it ended but this place gives you the excitement of starting to think about the long journey to the next one and all the great and fun things along the way to get there.

I go back too work tomorrow to but for 3 days...I took off Friday and have Monday like you do. Have a great day!

Thanks Crown! Hope everyone is feeling better and you have a great week off from counting down!

Thank you!
The link gives me an error message, but I appreciate the thought. I can always register with Ravelry and look for it there! I like the creative way the patterns uses bobbles/popcorns!
Maybe I can save it on my computer as a PDF and PM it to you

Thanks! Glad to know others still consider it so.

And I know. My family loves the holidays, but it's just not a priority anymore for them, and I would say for most people now.

I've got my own set up and everything. It's been illuminated non-stop all month and won't be off for at least another two to three weeks. As far as TV goes, indeed I plan to go back and re-watch all my DVRs from December, probably more so now than before as I'm just continuing to hang on to and maintain what's left of the holidays.
So sorry to hear it's not a priority anymore! The holiday spirit seems to hang on here at least through January 2. Hope you get to enjoy as much recorded Christmas as you want! 'Tis the season to be jolly!

When we take our Christmas Decorations down, they get replaced with our snowman decorations. Granted we do not have as much snowmen stuff as we do Christmas but it does help the house feel less blah. We have several stuffed snowmen, snowmen candles and candle holders and some that light up. The snowmen decoration stay up until the beginning of March.

Hello all!

Hope everyone is having a good start to the week. We had a busy morning, but now it is just sit around the house and enjoy all of the goodies from yesterday!

It will not be long and our Christmas decor will come down. Sad? yes. But, I still listen to Christmas music on my own and sneak in a Christmas movie or two from time to time. Plus, I get to come here and hang out! That really helps the Christmas spirit stay strong all through the year!

Have a great day!

Well the Santa selection was pretty thin this year. I found 2 though to add to the collection. So the count is around 135 now. I picked up a few ornaments, a new Santa door mat, and some paper too. Oh and some chocolate covered cherries too. I can't believe I haven't had any so far this season.

Chocolate covered cherries are my mom's favorite.

"Christmas" does eventually end at the Gunny's house in its truest form. But Christmas never ends at my house in its colors and pagentry.

Christmas never ends in our spirits, hearts and minds...I do think about it all year. Even laying out in the summer heat in July I smile thinking about these days that we just experienced of what's to come.

This is so true! Last summer I listened to Christmas music every time I mowed the grass. I used to try to refrain from anything Christmas after Christmas and before Halloween. Then, a few years ago I thought to myself, "Christmas time, Christmas music and movies make me happy. Why should I put that away?" So, now I simply embrace my love of Christmas all year. Now, I don't listen to the music out loud much at home, but just put the headphones in think of all things Christmas. Finding mymerrychristmas really helps too. Finding others who love Christmas as much as I do if great!
We also keep one Christmas decoration up all year, it is a Santa head on the wall. It is a nice subtle reminder of Christmas all year.

I have a shelf just outside the kitchen with five or six Christmas mugs in a row that I keep out year-round. They make me smile! I just got a Ralphie "You'll shoot your eye out" mug for Christmas, too.

My Christmas music enters my playlists earlier each year. It's my favorite kind of music, and the season is too short for me to play all I want to hear.

I love the mug idea! I have been toying with the idea of keeping my "I LOVE SANTA" mug out all year. From now until next November I will mostly listen to non-Christmas music. But, the Christmas music comes out every now and then. Especially on snowy winter days. Then, once we get to November, I listen to nothing but Christmas music. However, by that point Christmas music is played more and more often starting in October. It kind of rotates with Halloween music.

I used to not do anything Christmas related during Christmas in July. Then, a few years ago I watched QVC Christmas in July and really enjoyed seeing all of the decorations and everything. Then, I found the old 1983 Solid Gold Christmas Special on the internet and made my own DVD with 1980s Christmas commercials. I actually found that in July and it has become a tradition that I watch it in July.

I, unfortunately, had to take my live tree down today...it was shedding needles at a tremendous rate 2 weeks BEFORE Christmas, while it was still taking water, then it almost stopped taking water altogether. Every time someone would walk by, there would be a raining of needles, sometimes even when no one was near it. So, needless to say, it came down today, but the rest of the decorations are up until after Three Kings Day. We keep our live tree up until then, too, except for this year. It was not by choice, but necessity that we took Bruce down. Sad and a lesson learned for future Christmases.
